1. Are you a subscriber to the Navigraph FMS data (airac cycles)? If so, then I suggest that you download the latest cycle from their website and install it. If you're not a subscriber and you used the Navigraph procedures which are included in the EFB setup then you will find the Navigraph installer in the installation folder (where EFB is installed). It's a file name "AIVLASOFT_1101.exe".
2. Mark, after reinstalling FSX you must reinstall the Navigraph procedures too.
3. seems that I don't know my own software anymore. Of course, you're right Travis. As long as no procedure is selected there are no frequencies and also no vertical profile available.
4. Vic, thanks for sending the logfiles. I can see a lot of exceptions of type "0xC000014B". See here for further details on this topic: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=145. I can also see that a utility runs which auto-saves FSX status every 5 minutes. Am I right? I don't know how many other add-ons are simultaneously running that might have an impact on either FSX or SimConnect. It seems that FSX is somehow "overloaded" from time to time and then it freezes or crashes. As a result of this also EFB DataProvider crashes.
5. Vic, Can you please send me all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com. The files can be found as follows: Windows Start Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles If it's a networked installation, please send me the logfiles from both computers. Thanks.
6. Bruce, thanks for the screenshot. That's very confusing ... Can you please send me all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com. The files can be found as follows: Windows Start Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles If it's a networked installation, please send me the logfiles from both computers. Thanks. EDIT: please see the next two postings below ...
7. Hi Bruce, can you provide me a screenshot which shows the entire window of the EFB DisplayUnit when you opened KSFO approach?
8. Lothar, can you please try the following: - stop/exit the DataProvider - start the DisplayUnit on your second computer. Now the splash screen appears for some seconds and then it will disappear. After that, the yellow bar "Initializing EFB system" appears. After some further seconds it should change to "Connecting ..." - on the menu bar, press "System" > "Settings". The settings dialog opens. Now verify the following settings: - Is "Server Mode" set to "Remote"? - Is the "Server Name" exactly the same as the name of the DataProvider computers name?
9. Thanks Jack for clarification . I think that I've already what you explained, ... but only in version 2.
10. Clive, There is no converter available for such a situation, so you must type it manually using the built-in checklist editor (or you convert it into the XML-format which is used for the export/import of checklists).
11. Freddy, - which airport? - which AIRAC cycle is installed on the DataProviders computer? - on the RouteSetup page, did you have a look at the Modify page?
12. Joel, I assume that this is a typo? In the DisplayUnit's settings you must set the name of the DataProvider's computer, not the DU computer's name. That's OK. If the DNS cannot resolve the DataProviders IP-address from the given name in the DU settings, we could try to add a fixed assignment in the file called "hosts". Do you know that file? You will find it as follows (on the DisplayUnit's computer): "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts". This file has no postfix like *.txt or *.exe or similar. It's just "hosts". If you are familiar with file editing you may add the following line at the end of the file: 10.0.1.13 5350 It is important to leave at least one whitespace between the IP-number and the computer name. After you have added this line, save the file and try to restart the DisplayUnit. Now if the DNS is looking for a computer named 5350 it will take the IP address 10.0.1.13 for a connection. Maybe this helps.
13. Joel, thanks for this detailed description. That helps really. As far as I can see it must be a problem with the DNS (Domain name service) which cannot properly resolve the computer name of your FSX computer. It returns 0.0.20.230 but it should return 10.0.1.13. Therefore the DisplayUnit cannot connect. Please check whether the name of the FSX computer is properly set in the DisplayUnit's settings. To find the FSX computer name please open: Control Panel\System and Security\System. There you can see the computer name. Are both computers in the same workgroup? Did you configure a homegroup?
14. ... and another improvement could have been added for 1.3.2 (which is already in the pipeline)
15. Hi Martin, what exactly means "nothing" ? - do you see the "splash screen" when trying to start the DU? - are there any logfiles available at "C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Logfiles"?
16. Frequency boxes on the enroute chart are only available if one is flying online.
17. Clive, thank you for your kind words and welcome aboard. Enjoy EFB!
18. Heinz, could you please send me the file "...\Addon Scenery\UKBB_Borispol_Kiew\scenery\AFX_UKBB.bgl" to support@aivlasoft.com so I can try to figure out what's the cause for this exception.
19. Hi, No, there is currently no setting which can be changed. Not only that it doesn't fit the holding phases, it's also not a VOR but a DME. That's indeed not helpful since you won't get a radial from a DME . I will try to improve this in version 2. If I compare a r/w chart against the EFB chart I can't see a "big" difference concerning the holding position. But it might be that I don't see what you mean please, according to the forum rules, sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks.
20. Peter, we will add some more weather related information in version 2. But currently I'm working in other areas so I can't tell you about details. Stay tuned ...
21. Hi Lothar, just have a look into the file "Runways.txt" which can be found in the following directory: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\UserData. Most probably there are already some entries for EDDP. Try to remove them. For more information about the "Runways.txt" file, please read the operations manual, starting at section 2, page 3. Just download the latest Navigraph FMS data for AivlaSoft EFB to your FSX computer. Run the installer and - after a successful installation of the airac cycle - just restart the DataProvider. Merry Christmas to you too
22. Peter, ASE does a cyclical load of weather data. So it's possible that you try to get the METAR for a certain airport which is not yet loaded. It depends on things like CPU performance, network performance (if you have a networked installation), FSX settings, DisplayUnit settings ...
23. Peter, as Drew already mentioned, you must select the file named "current_wx_snapshot.txt".
24. Andrew, version 1.3.x of EFB always uses UTC time, regardless of the settings in FSX. This is a feature that will change with version 2. There you can select whether you want to use FS-time or computer time.
25. Thanks Todd for this information. I will have a look whether there are some more "unknown" airport identifiers.
