  1. That's really too bad. Thanks anyway.
  2. Like martinbrown, I was unaware of the 20% discount when I bought v2. It certainly isn't well publicized. Is there any chance that I could get the discount now?
  3. Long story short ... I left my computers alone for a few days due to New Year's Eve festivities. Looking at things with fresh eyes, I've just reviewed my settings and made two changes that now allow me to run EFB on my remote computer. First, even though I had shared the correct folder to the DP, the full path wasn't present in the appropriate settings field. I changed that to the full path. Second, I changed the server name in settings from the computer's name ("5350") to its ip address. After that, it all worked! Thank you very much, Aivlasoft, for the help. I greatly appreciated it. In the end, it turned out to be my configuration error. Cheers! Joel
  4. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Would upgrading the operating system of the DP computer to Windows 7 help? Thanks, Joel
  5. Hi, You're correct: it was a typo. The DataProvider computer is "5350." The DisplayUnit computer is "Quagmire." I'll try the fixed assignment and see if that works. Again, thanks for the continuing help. Cheers! Joel
  6. Hi, Wycliffe and Aivlasoft, Wycliffe, did you mean to update the operating system ... in my case, from Vista to Windows 7 for the DisplayUnit computer? Would having both computers as Windows 7 help? I don't really want to spend CDN $120 to upgrade if I don't have to. I've updated both the DisplayUnit (DU) and the DataProvider (DP) to SP5, although the version numbers are slightly different: DU: 1.3.1.13675 DP: 1.3.1.13677 Aivlasoft, I've double-checked, and the DU computer's name is "5350" (without the quotations marks). I've set that in DU's settings in the Server Name field. When I click the "Check name" button, the response is "Ok ... hostname found." Both computers are in a workgroup named WORKGROUP. The Win7 computer was configured for a homegroup. However, I changed it to leave the homegroup (since they're for Win 7 computers only) and rebooted to see if that would make any difference. It didn't. Whether there is a homegroup or not, I still have the same problem. As I've said, I successfully use Plan-G on the Vista computer with FSX on the Win7 computer. Of course, it is probably a much simpler program than EFB. I can also successfully share my Win7 folders with other computers at home.... Thanks for the continuing help, Joel
  7. I've just bought EFB and I've been trying to get it set up for a two-computer system. I've followed all of the instructions carefully. I've shared all of the folders appropriately according to the manual and the FAQ on this forum. I've also updated EFB to 1.3.1 SP5. System where FSX and DataProvider reside: Win7 Router: Apple Airport Extreme System where DisplayUnit resides: Vista Both the DataProvider on the host computer and DisplayUnit on the remote computer boot up. However, when DisplayUnit is initializing on the remote system, I get a SocketException error, which I see at the bottom of the DisplayUnit window: "A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable network 0.0.20.230:51747." By the way, I can see that same IP address in the DataProvider window as it is initializing, e.g. ... 13:34:31 Info - Provider initialized. 13:34:35 Info - IP-Address is 0.0.20.230 ... Both the DataProvider and DisplayUnit are configured to use port 51747. I'm not familiar with IP-Addresses starting with 0 (zero). The two computers with the DataProvider and DisplayUnit have the following IP-Addresses: DataProvider is actually on my FSX computer running Win7 Home Premium at IP Address 10.0.1.13 DisplayUnit is actually on my remote computer running Vista Home Premium at IP Address 10.0.1.7 I use MAC addressing on the router. Both of the computers above connect to the router using a wired connection. I have the freeware Plan-G set up on my two computers above, and it works correctly, so I don't know what kind of problem I'm having. Could you please help? Thank you in advance. Joel Murray
