1. Advanced aircraft themselves extensively use Simconnect for their systems too, a lot of developers now run parts of the system logic outside of FS so Simconnect is used to communicate that data back and forth to the sim.
2. The majestic's radios do not tie into the default radio systems in the same way as 99.5% of other aircraft, so it's not possible at this time to tune them externally. Majestic say they are going to change this in the future, but with two other versions still in the pipeline and a few high priority bugs to overcome it may be a long while before we see this changed.
3. The hold short markers you see in the sim from UK2000 scenery are 3D models, FSX itself does not support multiple hold short points on the same runway access point i.e. T1, T2, T3 etc. FSX itself only allows 1 hold short point per runway entry. EFB only reads what is in the AFCAD (that 1 hold short point) it can't possibly know anything about 3D modelled taxiway signs or painted texture hold lines.
4. Possibly because they are not named in the airport AFCAD as that is where EFB gets its info from.
5. Shutting down services on Windows 7 is a waste of time and will gain you nothing. That is even more true if you are only using the Display unit on that machine. If you are that short of memory the you need to get more RAM i.e. more than 4GB and upgrade to a 64bit OS if you are not using one already. Services only use a tiny bit of RAM, they do no waste CPU cycles on Windows 7, it's a surprisingly efficient OS. Sit watching the services with task manager (enable CPU time in its options if its not on already) for a few hours if you need evidence and you will see that even in 24 hours of elapsed real time that most services will have used only a few seconds of CPU time in that day. More than likely the services that you could possibly disable haven't used any time at all anyway, so you would gain no performance only RAM.
6. So the only problem you are having is that you cannot read the documentation that comes with EFB, the software itself works ok though? Try installing another web browser like Firefox and make that the default and redownload EFB and reinstall. you might also want to change your PDF reader to Foxit Reader which is free and much less resource hungry than Adobe's software.
7. Do you have internet explorer or similar installed on your Flight Sim PC? What makes you think there is anything in the latest EFB update to make the radios tunable by EFB in the Majestic Q400? That simply isn't possible at this time because Majestic are not using the default Flight Simulator functions for their radios. They say they are going to fix that in the future and when they do it will just start working with EFB. There are no changes required in the EFB code to make this work, it's all work that needs to be done at Majestic's side of development in their aircraft.
8. I'm not sure to be honest, if there is no error in the FSX airport selection menu then it may not be the AFCAD after all. I will have to defer to Urs in this instance.
9. That will be the airport designers fault more than likely, information like that is gathered from the AFCAD which comes with the third party airport. Have a look in the FSX airport selection interface and I fully expect the same error to be present there too.
10. Hi Marconi, As far as I understand the little blue arrow curving back to the left means just that, GO BACK or revert to the previous plan without the currently selected procedure being included. Until you press Activate nothing is actually done to the Flight Plan in the FSX GPS, pressing back just cancels the process, so I suppose what you are seeing is the preview you desire, but I do not think you can have a live preview on the moving map, I think that is what you were expecting. Once you press the Activate button though you cannot remove the procedure without first going to the Modify area via the route generation area, there you can remove the whole SID or STAR from the plan (you cannot remove individual waypoints in a SID or STAR) and then re-activate the plan minus the SID or STAR, then you can add a procedure back again via the normal departure or arrival pages, etc.
11. Please everyone when Urs says "@all please sign all of your posts with at least your first real name", he really means everyone, it is rude to do otherwise in a civilised forum, thanks. Better yet, add your name to your signature then you won't have to remember to type it. Click the link below to add a signature of your own. ucp.php?i=profile&mode=signature Urs perhaps putting a link to the signature page in the rules box would help new forum visitors, it can be a little awkward to find the correct page to create a signature with the theme that is used on this board. Pasting the below code into your rules text in the admin control panel would turn the word 'signature' into a direct link to the signature area. Simply select and replace the word signature in your rules text with the below. signature When there is news to announce about V2 you won't have to go looking for it that is for certain. Sometime this year is hopeful but that is no promise.
12. It is hoped that it will be sometime this year, but no promises.
13. No there isn't a way around it as far as I am aware and the reason the info is reduced on other aircraft (when on the ground) is that it removes clutter from the map making it easier to read.
14. The original release doesn't, I'm not sure about the Service Pack 1 version, I haven't tried it yet. And by doesn't work, I mean the flight logging doesn't work at all. You can actually see the aircraft moving in the moving map but that's about it, don't expect to be able to tune the radios or anything like that from within EFB
15. EFB does not scan the traffic files at all, or more correctly I should say it doesn't use any of the data contained in them, all it does is look inside all BGL containers to see if it contains relevant NAV and Airport Facilities data, Traffic BGL data is completely irrelevant to EFB. EFB displays the traffic on its moving maps by using the interface Simconnect and it is well known that this interface can become overloaded by system complex aircraft like the PMDG NGX and latterly the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended, of course there are other examples too. Both of these aircraft put so much strain on the Simconnect interface that it runs out of available bandwidth. When Simconnect gets in this state is prioritizes certain kinds of connections so that time critical systems get as much data as possible to keep the simulation working well. The TCAS and AI traffic systems are some of the areas that are classed as a low priority (the opposite of real life, this is a sim after all) so you start to see weird inconsistencies or traffic disappearing altogether because Simconnect isn't supplying updated data to programs like EFB anymore. The rest of the FSX systems (none simconnect) also have this priority methodology in place, under heavy load the first systems to get low priority are things like the clouds in the graphics engine for example and the AI aircraft (flight handling) and ATC system. This is why you see clouds doing strange things sometimes when approaching a complex airport in a systems heavy sim like the NGX. Also the AI aircraft will sometimes act strangely and completely ignore ATC until there are enough spare resources to give to those areas of the sim again. That's why it's a good idea to use a locked (limited) frame rate so that resources are not wasted purely on keeping the frame rate up high.
16. The forum does have a search facility, please use it to help yourself get a quicker answer, it's actually stated as rule number 3 which is clearly shown in the orange rules box at the top of every page. If you click the link below the search has already been made for you. search.php?keywords=The+Eye
17. If I was Urs I would ask for your passport and receipt for EFB, great Idea.
18. Let's not forget that when you take-off the page/tab automatically changes to the departure page and then enroute etc, each page can have the traffic shown or not, but the user must remember to click the airplane icon at the bottom of each page to enable it i.e. the icon only toggles traffic view for that individual tab/page only and not globally for all tabs.
19. It's got nothing to do with EFB, it's most likely EZDOK that is causing the problem. If you have the camera view point inside any of the cockpit geometry you will be unable to manipulate the items in the VC with your mouse. Simply edit and move the view point in EZDOK by adjusting its position and possibly zoom level and you should find it will start working again.
20. Yes pretty much but if in step 2 you have a few aircraft added already, EFB will always use the last aircraft profile you selected from the list, it does not automatically choose the correct aircraft depending on what you are using in FS, you have to choose it manually from the list in EFB. That aircraft profile will now remain the active regardless of what aircraft you have loaded in FSX. Step 3 you have to Save the plan to MD11 format using the save button next to the activate button, presuming you have already selected the correct location to save the plan to. Then you must load the plan yourself via the MD11's FMC. EFB does not automatically load a plan into the MD11 like it does with the default GPS.
21. It's been down for a few hours, it's not a problem related to EFB, the site is actually completely unavailable. Hopefully it will be back soon as the VATSIM option is worse than useless.
22. Make sure you haven't got two AFCADS active for EGCC (UK2000) by mistake as was mentioned in the thread below. You should only have one or the other file mentioned in the active EGCC scenery folder. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1075&p=6612&hilit=uk2000+egcc#p6612
23. It may help alleviate the problem if you use FS2Crew, but I don't have FS2Crew installed anymore and I still have a problem most of the time.
24. The NGX itself puts so much stress on Simconnect there isn't much capacity left over for anything else. Practically every third party app that links to FSX externally has to use Simconnect, so it's easy to see why there are problems. I'm currently spending a lot of time flying the new Airbus Extended from Aerosoft and traffic always shows up fine in EFB with it, that's not the case for me with the NGX, I very rarely see traffic in EFB when ive been in the air for 10 minutes or more.
