  1. Trevor, EFB has no own file explorer. It uses strictly the file explorer of the corresponding WinOS. As I see you don't use normal network drives, but mounted drives in your file structure. Have you ever clicked one of the DRIVEs in the file explorer opened by EFB? Mounted drives should appear as folders within the drive's file structure.
  2. Hi Jürgen, sorry for the crash, but sometimes a vanilla installation can create miracles...? Great to hear that all is ok.
  3. Hi Paul, No, actually you don't need the Sim running to connect Server and Client via your Network. When connected the red "Server Connection" warning will disappear and the amber "Simulator" warning will remain ON until the server has established connection to the Sim via FSUIPC. It is nevertheless recommended for the initial Setup to have the Sim running to allow the Server detect a few basic settings and to see whether all connections are ok. If properly set up there should be nor more warning at the top right corner of the Client Display. For normal use of EFB v2 the starting order is irrelevant.
  4. Hi Paul, Use 192.168.1.103 according to your screenshots, and don't change the port number if there are no specific reasons to do so.
  5. Urs is AFK at the moment but will return soon and take care of your problem. I see that you have already tinkerend around with various settings. If this is your basic (and first) installation of EFB v2, I would recommend to uninstann EFB v2 completely and reinstall it using standard setting. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING in the basic setup before you intend to connect it to your nework as this is not required for proper network ops. A network connection is always possible using the standard settings. Only in specific cases some alterations are necessary.
  6. Urs is AFK at the moment, but will return soon. As he is the Nework-Specialist, he will give you the answer right away. In any case using TWO different IP addresses for the Server's Computer is not possible and not necessary either. If you use a static IP address, it will be the same (static) all the time.
  7. Trevor, I must confess that I have no idea how you access your networked drives. Normally you will access it through the normal "network" path tree where you can access the ActiveSky "current_wx_snapshot.txt" file directly. The indicated path would then be like "\\<your network_pc>\c\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Hifi\XX_P3Dv4\Weather\current_wx_snapshot.txt. This is the usual way I also use on one of my installations.
  8. Something is amiss with the Server Installation, however this is not so easy to find out from a distance. We need some more information. What is your installation concept? Server, Sim and Client on the same machine or Client on a remote computer? Did EFB v2 run normally before applying the update? If so, could you please create a set of support files and post it here? Does the Server (build #57) start without the update applied? (don't try to run the Client#76 with the Server #57, this will most probably lead to an error) What AV software do you run? Do you have any automatic backup software running in a background process? Can you post a screenshot of your Server's installation folder? (normally to be found at: C:\Program Files\AivlaSoft\EFB2\Server)
  9. Could you please try again and then please move the confirmation window a bit out of place to see the text of the installation protocol? So far I have no clue what could prevent the updater from being properly executed. What are your current build numbers for server and Client?
  10. Hi Trevor, This is not a problem. This entry has been deleted as it is not necessary at all (see updated User Guide "3 Server", page 14). You don't need this entry. The reason why your server is not seeing your network is not dependend on this IP address. You need to enter the proper IP address (or the computer's name) of your server's Computer in the Client's System window. The manuals were updated with the latest update. Current builds are Server #58, Client #76.
  11. Hi Jean. Great to hear that everything has cleared up.There is a license necessary for EFB v1 (old version of EFB) and one for EFB v2 (new version of EFB) This is not dependent on the Simulator. If you have already a license for EFB v1: you can purchase one for EFB v2 at a reduced fee: See here: https://forum.aivlasoft.com/topic/2843-how-to-get-a-discount-as-a-recurring-customer/
  12. Hello Jean, What is the configuration of your installation? Server and Client on the same computer or Client on a remote computer? Do you have the proper version of FSUIPC installed? Check User Guide "1 Installation", chapter "1.2.3 FSUIPC.dll" Do you start the Server with full admin rights?
  13. Ok, sorry a typo!1 Of course I meant the IP address of the Server's computer! IMHO this pseudo dual boot system can still have the same IP address for both boot partitions as well as it can have the same name. Changing the name might however be the simpler solution.
  14. Why don't you give both drives the same computer name? Shouldn't be a problem as you boot them separately. Alternatively you still might check (and if necessary adjust) the IP address of both Boot Drives. Then enter the IP address for the Client instead of the Computer Name. Running two Clients on the same (remote) computer is not a good idea and may lead to problems.
  15. See the User Guide "6 Flightplan" Chapter "2.3 Flightplan via Uplink" for allowed formats.
  16. Ohh, I see. Sorry, I misread your message. I'm afraid you have to do a manual correction in the Client's Settings file. Open the "ClientSettings.txt" file with any text editor (found at C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB2\Client\Settings) and look for the following entry: [Network] IpEndPointType = 0 ServerComputerName = XXXXXXXXXXX TcpPortNumber = 51748 Whatever is shown at "ServerComputerName = XXXXXXXXXXX", delete everything right of the "=" sign Do not change anything else and save the file. Restart the Client. It should come up with the initial input field for the Server Location.
  17. Hi Jürgen, Please Start the CLIENT and open the Main System Window. From there open the "Server Location" Button ahd re-enter the server's name or IP address.
  18. Not that I wanted to give the impression that we are all ignorant developers that do not understand the user's wishes, I might need to point to a few facts from the developer's view. EFB v2 is primarily designed to be what the 3-letter acronym means: an Electronic Flight Bag! This said, it will also become clearer that if we had decided to produce a Radar Scope, we would have changed the name and had implemented all necessary functions. Same applies for a Flight Planning Tool: if EFB v2 were primarily designed as a Flight Planning Tool, we would have renamed it and focused on flight planning features. So, as a conclusion. even if there are a n umber of wishes from the community's side, the decision to implement each new feature should still be with the developer. As long as a few important features regarding EFB are on our to-do list, we will not be focusing on other "goodies", especially not if they do not produce a specific value to the common user of an EFB. First-Minute Users will have realized that even since introduction of EFB v2 on July 1st, 2018, a few new features were implemented upon user's requests or suggestions. It is however simply impossible to always include all specific wishes and suggestions of any users. And again, the decision to do what is reasonable and doable within our scope for EFB v2 should still remain with the developers.
  19. Actually yes, however be aware that as from Win10 Build #1803 onwards there were problems reported with the propagation of the names. But anyway you can of course try with the computer name.
  20. Hi Jürgen, I remember your quasi-dual boot system as explained earlier in this thread. Did you check whether both partitions provide the same IP address? To me it seems that booting with the FSX-SE drive does not use/provide the same IP address as booting with the P3D drive. Can you check those two IP addresses whether they really are equal?
  21. Ok, we may continue this discussion eternally, but even if it sounds like a repetitive question: What is the "very high value" from User Experience? As a complete noob in aviation (I got only 20'000+ flying hours as commercial pilot and flight instructor of which I agree that it is close to nothing compared to many simmers invaluable experience) I would really learn how to benefit from the information provided by the fact that an AI traffic is on my frequency. Maybe I have missed something substantial in my almost 40 years of commercial and private flying. I'm always willing to learn something new...?
  22. Please remain within reasonable and decent limits with your statements.
  23. Well, PatB already answered this with his statement (see above): " No benefit whatsoever ". I leave it to you two to finally find out about the "very high value for user experience". EFB v2 is neither a client for Radar Controllers nor does it provide any means to communicate with AI traffic.
  24. Hi Jürgen, we removed the "any" line as it just caused too much trouble if people decided to put in changes without knowing what they were doing. Just leave this Port Number as it is and don't change it without any good reason. You will see the same Port Number in the client's settings. They must be equal and of course they are equal by default. If you want to connect the Client from a remote computer you need to know the IP number of the Server computer's and enter it in the corresponding input field at the first start of the Client. Alternatively you can also enter the Server Computer's Name. You don't need to input the Server Computer's IP address anywhere in the Server setup. You only need the Server Computer's IP address to connect a remote Client
