1. Hi Karol, thanks for the link. Unfortunately I cannot download it since I'm not a member with IVAO. We are only allowed to "listen" to their official whazzup-page. Since EFB is a commercial product sometimes the rules are a bit inconvenient
2. @ Wil, according to the installation and configuration manual (section 3, page 28) you must select the data folder from "the Eye". @ Luc, it seems that the file "firs.dat" contains an invalid line which is not according to their own definitions. You can edit the file using any text editor like "notepad.exe".
3. Jean, this data is taken from the BGL file and will not be changed by EFB. It might be that the developer of the airport has mixed up the runways? Have you already asked at the Aerosoft forum?
4. Hi Vu, yes, you're right. EFB will show you the current position of your aircraft. But only if you activate the moving map. Please do not forget to activate it. It can be done by pressing the small airplane symbol on the charts toolbar. As long as the simulator is not running or is paused, the button is grayed out and cannot be pressed. It is only available when the simulator is running. Hope this helps.
5. Hi Vu Pham, there is no link between the 'aircraft' in EFB and the aircraft in FSX. The term 'aircraft' in EFB is used to collect a certain set of checklists and aircraft related data under a 'user-friendly' name. You can name this 'aircraft' as you like. It's the pilots responsibility to select the right 'aircraft' in EFB when he flies with an MD-11, or a 737 or ...
6. Hi, as per the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks. once you downloaded the checklist, unzip it to a folder like "..\temp" or similar. Then start the "Checklist editor" (DisplayUnit > System > Checklist editor) and press the button named "Import checklists". For further details about checklists please refer to the operations manual, section 12 "Checklists".
7. Hi Carlos, no problems here. Any other users who have the same problems?
8. A new version of the FS9/2004 flight plan handler is available. This is due to a minor bug which has been reported here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1198 Download the new flight plan handler here: How to replace the flight plan handler? Please follow the instructions below: 1) Download the updated flight plan handler to a temporary folder and unzip the file. 2) Quit EFB DisplayUnit 3) Open Windows Explorer and locate the folder "plugins" which is below the installation folder of EFB (normally this is something like "C:\Program Files\AivlaSoft\EFB\plugins"). 3) Replace the file "AivlaSoft.FlightPlanHandlers.MsFs2004.dll" in that folder with the downloaded file (see step 1). 5) Start DisplayUnit.
9. Hi Jarkko, it's the FS9 flight plan handler which doesn't recognize type 'N' as navaid. I will fix this asap and then upload a new version of the flight plan handler.
10. Mark, the SIDs are related to the runways, whereas the STARs are not.
11. Hi Mark, I had to edit your post due to copyright restrictions. Can you confirm that the file "EGCC_afx_UK2xTRMWEST.BGL" is a real FSX file, or is it FS9 data format? EFB DataProvider can only read FSX data files. Please read this post, maybe it helps to solve the problem. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1158
12. Larry, did you already read this post? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1180
13. Hi Jarkko, thanks for the detailed report. Much appreciated! I think that the problem is caused because the route has been saved as FSX plan previously. Somehow EFB cannot identify CEL as NDB when it tries to open the FSX plan. You might have seen that the type of the first enroute waypoint in the EFB flight plan is 'Undefined'. Wpt=Enroute|0|CEL||Undefined|0||52.589667|10.029500|0|DCT Whenever a route description like (EDDV CEL Q282 DIRBO Z990 TOSPA P605 GESKA N851 MIKNA Z226 NILUG ESSA) is available, I suggest to just copy/paste the route description into the text box from the "Select" dialog in EFB. That's what I did with the above mentioned description and the flight plan shows the CEL NDB as expected. Hope this helps.
14. Hi, as per the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks. The runway identifiers taken from either the Aerosoft or the Navigraph cycle 1213 are 04 and 22. I assume that these identifiers are taken from real world. Therefore they must be assigned in the file runways.txt.
15. Hi, as per the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks. The DataProvider can only recognize FSX scenery data files. From the website you mentioned I can see that the scenery most probably is in FS2004 data format:
16. Hi Walt, the procedure is as follows: 1) select origin and destination airport (i.e. LSZH to EDDF) 2) select cruise altitude (i.e. FL240) 3) then change to the 'Modify' page (now you will see the origin and the destination airport in the lower pane) 4) select the origin airport (LSZH) in the lower pane by clicking in the grid at line 1 (only this will allow EFB the show a list of objects in the upper pane) 5) tick the 'Fixes' option to additionally show fixes (per default only VORs, DMEs, and VORDMEs are listed) 6) now sort the list according to the bearing by clicking on the column header named 'BRG' 7) select a 'Fix' or 'VOR' or 'VORDME' or 'DME' from the upper pane according to the requested heading/bearing and distance, then press 'Insert selected waypoint' 8) now select the added waypoint (which is now line 2) to create a new list in the upper pane 9) repeat steps 7 and 8 as long as needed. Step 4 and 8 are context sensitive, which means you always have to select that waypoint which shall be the starting point for the list in the upper pane. Hope this helps.
17. Patrick, I would rely on the chart since there the course is depicted as 251° two times and in the profile view below it's also depicted as 251°.
18. Hi Patrick, thanks for the good words on EFB. What you describe seems to be a rounding difference (... which should not be).
19. Hi James, - is this behavior reproducible or not? - did you activate the route when the aircraft was on the ground and the engines were off? - could you send me the route (.efbr file) that you used when it occured? (support@aivlasoft.com)
20. John, EFB is a 32-bit application. It runs on 32-bit and 64-bit processors.
21. Hi Mike, thanks for the kind words on EFB! Although I'm not a network specialist I like to share my best experience: - The easiest way to connect the two computers is when both computers are running Windows 7 using a so called 'home group'. - Both computers must have the same logical network address which means that the IP address on both computers must start with the same groups of digits, i.e. 192.168.1.nnn, where 'nnn' is the workstation address and must be different on both computers. If you run the DisplayUnit on a second computer, FSX can run in full screen mode. Note: The network address is depending on the so called 'Subnet mask' which determines how many groups of digits or even digits are used for the network address and how many digits are used for the workstation address. Usually on home computers the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
22. Andre, Please do not delete these files. They are a valuable source of information if any problems occur. The files will be overwritten after a certain time. I'm not sure what you exactly mean with this. This thread will not be removed or deleted. It will remain "forever". You can answer on this thread at any time and the thread will be put at the top of the list which is sorted according to their relevance to the present.
23. Gus, did you try both files, the .zip-file and the .7z-file? We have had several hundreds of downloads in the past few weeks. Although it might not help, but the problem seems to be beyond our server.
