  1. I didnt tell my missus about the ifly 737, she saw my credit card statement and went bonkers with me. telling me I was obsessed with FSX and flying. They don't get it do they. When I pointed ou that she spent £100 on a pair of shoes last saturday she relented. When I told her my ifly will give me years ofpleasure compared to her three wears of the shoes she apologised and went and made me a sandwich. Wycliffe
  2. Hi It's impossible to say when version two will be ready. It hasn't yet come to us lowly beta testers but rest assured when it does come out it will be free to registered users. Glad your liking EFB. Wycliffe
  3. Hi i'm assuming the laptop is networked to the main PC. It sounds like a corrupt installation of the display unit. Uninstall the display unit on the laptop, make sure you have the correct version from the website and install again. I find the easiets way is to download EFB to a folder on your PC and then share that folder over the network. Install the data provider from the sared folder onto yur main pc, then go to the laptop find the shared folder on the main pc and install the display unit onto the laptop. Also make sure you turn off any firewalls and UAC, make sure yu install as an adminstrator Wycliffe
  4. Mar has gerard tested using windows classic mode on his machine. wycliffe
  5. Gerard Are you running Windows 7 in English or French. It should not make a difference but in some cases it has. Also Are you using a windows theme, if so could you use Windows classic mode theme. Wycliffe
  6. Following forum rules could you sign your posts with your full name. have you clicked on the icons to activate them Wycliffe
  7. As per forum rules can you sign with your real name, rightto answer question one as one of thebeta testers trying free flight is not something I have ever done so dont know. My assumption will be to answer no as EFB at least needs to know your dep and destination. That might be enough but I am not sure. My advice would be download the free 30 day trial and give it a go. It wont cost youa nything and I feel sure that once you have tried it you will wantto purchase it. Wycliffe
  8. Travis I got tyhe Ifly 737 FSX on day of release, what an aircraft. Good to see EFB will be supporting it and developing a flightplan handler. last night I had a glut of 737's on the grd at EGFF, mostly radio checks and strat up routines but acouple departed. Wycliffe p.s. sorry to hijack the thread Cubpilot, you'll love EFB more each day.
  9. Oustanding achievement sir, very well done to teh whole team. especlliay Urs for having the forsight to concive sucha superb product. Wycliffe
  10. Ed Glad you gotthe issue sorted, I had read the thread closely but didn't want to offer any input as Urs is the man, and I didn't want to muddy the already murky depths you were wading through. All's well that ends well. Wycliffe
  11. Thank you chaps asked and answerede. I think the simple solution is for me to keep a firm grip on what I am doing and not make stupid mistakes. Wycliffe
  12. I know I am going to kick myself when I get the answer. I have just inputted a direct to on the Display unit, which I actually don't need. How does one cancel it. I havent altered the aircraft FMC so the plane is flying the flightplan as t should. Wycliffe
  13. Looks like the old HRESULT error message. You can download .net4 from microsoft and reinstall that. That should clear the problem. I'm sure Urs will respond witha full and complete answer. Wycliffe
  14. The virtual tempreture I should imagine is the tempreture shown in FSX. Tempreture can have many effects on your aircraft especially if you input an incorrect tem[preture in the FMC. their are two temps youneed to be aware of when programming the FMC. 1) OAT = outside air tempreture so if a metar reports 22C then you need to putthattemp in your FMC where it asks for the OAT. 2) FLEX temp, Very simply - flex temperature is a derated takeoff. Rather then the jet using full thrust on the takeoff the 'system' is fooled into thinking the air temperature is higher than it really is.... an assumed temperature. That is then input to reduce the thrust to preserve the life of the engine when full thrust is not required for a safe takeoff. PMDG reccomend FLEX to be set at 54 in all conditions. The PMDG md11 is a rather complex aircraft and to fully configure the FMC which is the EDU and AP you need a number of factors as well as the flight plan. You can create your flightplan in EFB, butthen the correct way to proceed in the MD11 is then to inputthe flightplan into the FMC/CDU. The MD11 FMC is not like a boeing FMC and the inputting of the data is a little different. Spend some time reading the manual or do the tutorial flight a few time you will soon get the hang of it and believe me once you have completed a flight using the FMC the correct way the sense of satisfaction you get is really worth the effort. 15. This 57 yr old is jealous as your probably retired and I'm still slaving away in local gov. Wycliffe
  16. William So pleased that you got it all sorted. Pass on the good word. Wycliffe
  17. Have you connected to IVAO via your pilot client (IVAP?) and also click on the TRFC button on the hidden menu in the EFB display unit. Unfortunately I am a VATSIM user so do not know the intracacies of IVAO. Wycliffe
  18. Ah, That would be it then, there are a couple of files you need to download and install which are available from the EFB download page. Also you need to configure the display unit to access the VATSIM data. The full instructions are in the new installation manual also available from the download section on EFB's site Wycliffe
  19. harris make sure you have the show grd traffic mode highlighted in the systems section. You will see traffic on the ground depicted as aircraft but with no data. Go to a busy airport to check this out any of the major US airports or Heathrow in the UK. Wycliffe
  20. Joubarbe I should imagine that a 7inch monitor would be next to useless mind you i am basing that on my 57 yrs of age and the need for a nice 22inch monitor for flying and 19inch for EFB. I think Urs has answered your query in as much as the minimum requirement is clealry stated on the Website as indicated. Wycliffe
  21. Hi Dave Just to confirm having chekced my cardiff which is the same as yours (Terry Shields) all the stands are there. I can confirm that there are plenty of stands missing from my Bristol Extreme V2 Scenery. Glasgow looks ok but I am using Scotflight dscenery there. Wycliffe
  22. Hi Dave's in work right now but speaking with him on the phone this mornig yes he is using the newest V3 of Bristol extreme. Wycliffe
  23. Hi I have spent a little time thinking about this and whilst not haveing an indepth knowledge of the inner workings of FSinn something did occur to me that might help. My thoughts have lead me to the simple fact that there seems to be some confusion re the construction of flight plans. we need to remember that we might be dealing with svereal flightplan construction routines all of which are valid for their specific use but not in certain instances. Lets think about an FSX flighthplan created using the FSX flightplanner. This wont have all of the fixes and waypoints that we know exist on an AIRAC. So when one creates a flight plan in flightplanner it will have some limited fixes waypoints and plenty of vor's. The main issue with the flightplanner is that it does'nt have airways in it. An FMC in say a payware aircraft such as PMDG or Leveld will have uptodate AIRAC data from navigraph if the pilot has got an account or at the very least an airac which came with the payware aircraft. This will contain all waypoints and fixes in the world. Not only that the airways will also be in that AIRAcC When one creates a flight plan using payware aircraft one normally inputs waypoints and then an airway as in our famous EGFF EGPF route BCN UN864 NITON UY98 NOKIN UY99 RIBEL UN601 MARGO All along the airways there will be numerous waypoints but there is no need to input each individual one into the FMC as it knows where they are along the airway. This is a way of lessening the workload on pilots. VATSIM would expect the flight plan with waypoints and airways and not the whole route string as has been mentioned. So the question is does efb getting it's route from vatroute or route finder cause an issue. Not really but it's not required to put all of the route string in your flightplan submission to Fsinn ofr Suawkbox. Hope my meanderings have helped a little. Wycliffe
