  1. So when can we expect version 2 with Xplane capability. Wycliffe
  2. Hi Urs I hope your well ,just catching up to see what you are upto. I see that Travis had a bad year last year I hope he is well. Any news on the xplane aspect we discussed a while back. Wycliffe P.s still using and loving xplane
  3. Hi I seem to have broken my display unit, well let me illucidate, the display side pc refuses to read the data file on the master PC. It keep ssaying that the file isn't there when it clearly is. the network is working correctly in fact I haven't done anything to the display unit to warrant this behaviour. If anyone has any ideas as to why this has happened let me know. I shall spend sometime tonight trying to figure this out, but as I have had a nukber of fruitless nights with this and have not been abale to use EFB for a couple of months I don't hold out much hope. Wycliffe
  4. Lee EFB has some flightplan handlers written for it so that when you create a flightplan in EFB and then save it, it will also be saved in the flightplan handlers for your respective aircraft if you have set them up. For instance I have the PMDG Md11 and the level D 767 flightplan handlers setup. So the process I use is 1 Start FSX, rex etc 2 place aircraft at stand of choice 3 Start EFB and select saved plan, ( i have loads saved) 4 activate said plan 5 check metars at depart airport just in case i need to change dep rwy and SIDS 6 Log on to VATSIM 7 Fly Simple really and of course the more you use EFB the simpler the operation becomes, all of my ifr flights are conducted with EFB. I tend to use Plan G for VFR. Wycliffe
  5. I'm running EFB over a wired network, the display unit is on an Windows XP intel quad core based PC and It can take upto a minute to connect, which I consider nominal. The main PC with the data provider is a WIn7 Intel I5. Wycliffe
  6. Hello The developers are more than considerate in offering a months free trial you will find hardly any other developer offering such a good deal. Unfortunately I suspect that your request for a further trial period will be denied. I suggest you read the forums to see what other people's experience is and then purchase EFB. Don't forget this is an addon that has won several awards and is used by several thousand people succesfully. Wycliffe
  7. Hi I use Air Display on my ipad. I have a networked system two pc's networked with three screens. I use the ipad to have my FMC independant from the sim, and it works very well. Basically what Air display does is make your ipad into another monitor of your system, for it to work though I have to leave a miniscule amount of my FMC attached to the main screen. So what I do is open the fmc and undock it, I then drag the FMC to the ipad but leaving a thin strip of it on the main monitor. Bingo I have a touch screen FMC. I haven't done this with EFB as I run EFB as a distributed installation, but the principle is sound and there are plenty of films on Youtube showing this. Wycliffe
  8. Even easier method is just take off from wherever you are and it will pick you up. I did this lats night as I was testing a few things on my system. I first loaded the data provider and then the display unit and started FSX with the default flight in teh Microlight somewhere in Alaska or Canada, aftre aboutten seconds EFB found me placed me on the map with all navaids and VORS displayed. being in a devious mood and I was testing my network to stress it, I then simply entered free flight and jumped to Angola in Africa, within seconds Iw as on teh grd at the international airport and a few seconds later EFB showed me on the ened of the active runway. No need to put in DEp airport or anything else for that matter. I did this all on the fly so to speak without exiting and restarting FSX. Pretty robust system (EFB) if you ask me. Wycliffe
  9. Kalimera Kosta I would guess there is nothing wrong with your setup of your FSX system. Regardless of which pilot client you use Fsinn or Sbox they will both depict traffic on the VATSIM network. The network doesn't know what pilot client your using and really doesn't care as it is just moving data around the network regarding the relative posiotions of aircraft and thats it. Now what you need to be aware of is that in SBOX and FSinn you can set the distance that aircraft are depicted and also the number of aircraft depicted are drawn. FSX and FS9 only actually draws aircraft at a distance upto 10nm from your position. If you put lables on and have an aircraft steadily moving away from you you will see the label go off at ten miles. So there is no point in having the draw distance of aiercraft in SBox or Fsinn set to any higher than that. As regards the number of multiplayer aircraft to have either of them draw I set this to about ten. You will rarely see more than ten aircraft on the grd at any onetime. This should sort you out. 10. Hi All As the OP I feel a certain responsibility in this thread. I have written to Kieth and apologised for my original comments. Having looked a little deeper into Pilotedge I can see why it is a commercial operation and clearly it works with trainee pilots offeringa level of realism that might be missing from VATSIM/IVAO. @Jack, you comment that there is not enough VFR flying on VATSIM in the UK. May I suggest you try VFR Tuesday out of Gloucster towards Bristol or Cardiff or even both I think you will find the standard of VFR control very much in your favour. The South West region does pride itself on the training of ATC in ATSOCAS procedures it is a tradition that we continue to follow as more and more ATC students come and join us in the South West. You never know one day Jack you might like to take the plunge and join us on the dark side. All the best Wycliffe
  11. Its the bit about there being no where to simulate online flight with ATC. I just got a little annoyed about the fact that they are targetting flight simulation enthusiasts and charging 19.95 for something that can be achieved for free. I have since found out that their main traget group is real world flight students, and that perhaps their ATC is a step or two above VATSIM or IVAO. It's a little like all the companies in the UK at the moment saying they can get you your PPI payments back for you witha free service. Its not free they take their cut if your awarded compensation. I did mine for nothing and got back 11 grand. All for the cost of a stamp. Wycliffe
  12. Just did a search for pilopt edge which looks like an online network. First, no EFB is a VATSIM/IVAO related package and works only with them getting online data from the VATSIM or IVAO servers. Second, both VATSIM and IVAO are free to end user online communities. I can't say for IVAO as I am a staff member in VATSIM but VATSIM will never ask a amember for any money. http://www.vatsim.net Wycliffe
  13. I'm a little confused, why are you using wideclient ccould you explain that a little better. Are you only using FSX on one machine. The other machine in your network runs all the other gubbins. This is a similar setup to mine although I dont use wideclient and have no need to. I have three monitors running from two machines. Win7 has created the network for me and I use Input Director http://www.inputdirector.com to allow me to use one mouse and one keyboard for the two machines. Just to make something quite clear in all my experience and that of others EFB should have no impact on your FSX environement. I am assuming that you have a distributed installation with the data provider on the FSX machiine and the display unit on the Windows 2008 server machine. Simconnect is used by the present version of EFB as that is the only way it can retrieve the data it needs from FSX to display the graphical dat on the display unit. So please don't start messing with that and disabling it etc. I would look to your FSX installation for a solution to the stuttering which you most certainly shouldnt have with your i7 based PC. Wycliffe
  14. gerry Are you using EFB across a network (shared distribution installation)? What is the spec of the machine running the display unit. ? Are you running EFB display unit and FSX on the same pc using one monitior? Wycliffe
  15. The traffic issue is an odd one, Iwonder could it be anything to do with the IVAO update feed which is slightly lonegr than the VATSIM one. Regarding getting traffic in the right livery in VATSIM I have never had an issue with this but then again I use Fsinn which allows you to match aircraft correctly or manually. When using WOAI models it has never presented a problem. Anyway each to their own. All the best Wycliffe
  16. Felix I assume your running the two units across anetwork, you must make sure that you have shared files. follow the instructions in the manaual and you wikll be fine. If you wish to see online traffic, VATSIM or IVAO you must also download some specific files, once again the instructions are in the manual. Wycliffe
  17. Pierre Everything you need to know is in the manual, its a simple cse of installing the data provider on your main pc and the display unit on the other pc. You need to make sure you have created a home network, and share some files. As I say it is all in the manaual. when you download the latest version from the website your licence will be ok, there is no need to buy another copy. Wycliffe
  18. William Just make sure you have the multiplayer range in FSinn or Sqbox set to a suitable range equal to what you have set in EFB Display unit settings. eg 80nm. Wycliffe
  19. Hi It's been awhile since I used squawk box, I use Fsinn, but can you check the multiplayer range in squawk box. I had a similar problem just lately where by I was only seeing the odd online aircraft, it took several weeks of bug hunting in efb and even the pmdg nix before I had an epiphany and realised it was the multiplayer range in Fsinn. Once I adjusted that to 80nm I saw lots of online aircraft. @Travis see me after class for some online inspirational talking, it's still my mission to get you online and enjoying the experience. Wycliffe
Wycliffe as per forum rules could you please ask your questions in English.
  21. Hi I haven,t seen that error before but make sure you are running the data provider as administrator . Could yo also be a little more specific and let us kno wyour system spec and installation type. Wycliffe
  22. Chris Glad to hear you like the software, it is awesome when you have it working which isnt that hard. my next task is to have it working on my ipad via Air Display. Wycliffe
  23. You do realise that REX is doing a free upgrade which will put it on a par with AS2012 if not surpass it. Just to add some balance to the discussion. Wycliffe
  24. Joel even tough you have resolved this issue I feel I need to explain my post. I did mean the EFB software not the OS' of your machines. I just reread my post and I think it was a little misleading due to a typo, of mine. I'm happy that all is resolved. Wycliffe
