  1. Urs, Thanks for the background and the reasons why a rewrite was necessary. I understand you're now using FSUIPC instead of SimConnect which should make communication with the various flight simulation packages more straight forward. There must be an awful lot of code in v1 that requires amending or perhaps you don't work on it continuously. I would have thought changing parts of the interface to make SID and STAR selection would be easier once you had version 1 out. Perhaps v2is radically different. Is this rewrite taking longer than v1 did? I look forward to seeing the final product whenever that it. Hopefully not much longer but it is concerning when months go by with no news on progress. Perhaps that's something you can look at and maybe give us some news when certain milestones have been reached.
  2. Completely agree with you Ned. There would have to be significant improvements in v2 or a big discount for v1 owners to convince me to switch. I just don't understand the need for a complete rewrite. It suggests v1 is deeply flawed but that isn't how I see it.
  3. What like including a flight planner perhaps? I already have one of those in PFPX. Even if it were to include things new to v2 there should at least be an option to buy the basic package that emulates v1. Apart from a few issues and the disappearing Ai problem there is very little wrong in v1. A full rewrite using a different source seems to have caused a huge headache. Is it worth it?
  4. Urs, You posted the above message 3 years ago today. Three years! Can we realistically expect v2 to be released this year? Can you provide a progress report on how things are going please? I bought v1 in November 2013 and can recall delaying that decision as I thought v2 might soon arrive. Just as well I didn't really.
  5. There is only one active runway at EGKK.- 08R/26L. The other is used as a taxiway. If you open the AFCAD you'll probably find both ends of 08L/26R are closed to take-off and landing.
  6. When loading the attached flight plan EFB lists multiple items it doesn't like. Can you advise what the problem is please? Does it relate to CYQB (departure airport) or KMCO (arrival)? I have other plans for KMCO and they're okay. CYQB is freeware from AvSim library. 2016-06-01 15:29:23,056 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2016-06-01 15:29:23,071 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Application started: AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider, Version=1.5.1.15704, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=953442301537c18c 2016-06-01 15:29:24,491 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - License successfully verified. 2016-06-01 15:29:24,491 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - check user settings 2016-06-01 15:29:24,491 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - User settings loaded from 'E:\Users\Proudfoot\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Settings\DataProvider_UserSettings.bin' 2016-06-01 15:29:24,507 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Prerequisites ok, starting data provider now 2016-06-01 15:29:25,599 [1] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Initializing sequence started. 2016-06-01 15:29:25,599 [8] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Selected simulator is FSX 2016-06-01 15:29:25,599 [8] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Navigation data folder is 'D:\FSX\AivlaSoft' 2016-06-01 15:29:25,599 [8] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - AIRAC cycle 1605, Valid 28/APR/2016 - 25/MAY/2016, Provider=Navigraph 2016-06-01 15:29:25,599 [8] INFO AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider [(null)] - Reading indexfiles. 7. Thanks Urs. So you've done all the easy stuff and now there's just the difficult remaining! So a reasonable chance of me being able to buy it before the Grim Reaper comes calling!
  8. Thank you Urs. That does make sense since SuperTrafficBoard makes much smaller demands on SimConnect. Are you over 90% completed with v2 yet?
  9. Urs, I know I have asked this question before but with respect your answer leaves me confused. When I start a flight and have traffic enabled in EFB I see lots of aircraft at the airport. But during medium / long-range flights they slowly disappear from the interface. You say this is down to a problem with SimConnect. But I also use SuperTrafficBoard which also relies on SimConnect and this shows all the Ai aircraft in FSX including those at complex airports with many gates. Why can't EFB 'see' those aircraft if SuperTrafficBoard can? Is it because they may use different versions of SimConnect? It's particularly frustrating because in all other respects I am happy with EFB v1. Having to buy EFB v2 just to cure this strange problem would be difficult to justify.
  10. Thanks for the update Urs. A release this year would be wonderful! I live in hope.
  11. Urs, This thread is now two and a half years old. Is there any realistic possibility of v2 being released this year? The problem of Ai disappearing during a flight continues to frustrate.
  12. Hi Urs, Thanks for clarification on the server message. Thanks too for confirming SimpleCam can be customised for multiple aircraft. I had the impression it was for only one aircraft - hence the attractive price. You probably noticed the Trike as my default aircraft. I don't fly that but it has to be the default aircraft when you're flying Concorde. If a different (more complex) aircraft is the default all the gauges and switches may not load correctly with Concorde. Anyway, I'm very impressed with SimpleCam and will in all likelihood purchase it this weekend.
  13. Hi Urs, Very impressed with SimpleCam and I'll be buying a licence shortly. Just want to ask about this message that popped up when FSX Free Flight menu was displayed. I have the time service running and the PC is able to access the Internet. If I OK that message and then launch SimpleCam again it loads okay. Any ideas about why it should complain? My Firewall hasn't displayed any warnings either on this initial failed start or later when it loaded okay. LATER: After repeated starts of FSX it appears to be a timing issue. Sometimes I get the message above and other times I see the trial message indicating a successful connection. Can you confirm if SimpleCam can cope with multiple aircraft or just one?
  14. Thanks Urs. Look forward to this in v2 although it will come too late for my current situation.
  15. Does no-one have any comments to make about my question? Where is the FlightLog data held? DP or Viewer? Why can't it be retained in the event of a FSX crash and reloading of a saved FSUIPC flight?
  16. I'm running FSX SP2 and EFB with the display on a networked PC. The Data Provider runs on the FSX PC of course. I'm beta testing an aircraft and need to capture fuel flow and fuel remaining for each of the waypoints in my flight plan. There are some issues with this aircraft and FSX is crashing on panel view changes. Whilst I can reload the last saved FSUIPC flight the problem is I lose all the FlightLog info even though the Data Provider hasn't been shut down. It fails to recognise the aircraft's position when loading a saved flight. Is there any way I can retain / recover all the EFB data and continue where I was immediately prior to the crash?
  17. Thanks Urs. Not what I was hoping to hear. I'll leave you in peace for a while.
  18. Hi chaps, I'm curious as to how v2 is progressing. Sorry to ask again but hopefully you can give us some good news that the end is getting nearer.
  19. That doesn't look like a valid ICAO identifier. All UK airports are alpha only. If on 3rd party scenery it's likely the author has made a mistake. Is it Ledbury? If so this link may clarify things. http://www.pprune.org/private-flying/228086-ledb-code.html
  20. Hi Urs, Do the fixing of some minor bugs include the disappearance of Ai during a longish flight? That is the one BIG problem of the current version that I'm otherwise very happy with.
  21. Hi Travis, Firstly, nice to see the forum back. One job Urs didn't really need. Regarding EFB2 it's good to hear an alpha build is working for you. I won't ask too many questions but as long as I can continue to fly FS Labs Concorde-X with EFB without a lot of extra setting up I will be happy. As I said most I'm very happy with most of v1 except the problem of Ai disappearing but the switch to FSUIPC should fix that. And making it available to FS9 users will make you extra money.
  22. Makes perfect sense. Back then we didn't have P3D or FSX:SE. And problems have surfaced with SimConnect which were perhaps not obvious back then. The only one that springs to mind for me is having to select the landing runway twice - once on Arrival and again on Approach. A couple less clicks for METAR would also be welcome. Other than those I'm struggling to think of any multiple click options. How true! As a former programmer myself I often looked at old code and wondered why I wrote it that way! I wish you well with v2 work. You can't change the way you are and are clearly a talented programmer. I will now leave you alone as promised and hope v2 is available by the autumn. For now, flying is in conflict with outdoor activities now the nice weather has arrived.
