  1. Hi Travis, Since I posted that message I've delayed the starting of Traffic Optimizer and the problem has gone away. It appears to be a conflict with Fiber Accelerator - another .NET program on startup. Launching it when everything else is running is now error free, I've also deselected the option to generate the EFB_current_garmin plan so the program now reads the standard FS plan.
  2. Recently a new utility has been made available on both P3D and FSX Forums on AvSim. It's called Traffic Optimizer and deletes the furthest Ai from your aircraft down to a predetermined limit ignoring flights from/to the departure and arrival airports. It utilises .NET and runs on the same PC as EFB's Data Provider. Its most recent version reads the flight plan stored in FSUIPC4 to get the 2 ICAOs but that is causing the Data Provider to crash with the following error... What I don't understand is the name of the plan - EFB_current_garmin.pln rather than the name I used when loading it into EFB - LEMHEGCCX.PLN Clearly this crash is undesirable and I'd like it to be fixed. But the author of the utility tells me he reads the plan once only in read-only mode. So why is EFB unable to read it? Hope someone can help. I can provide full details of the crash on my next flight - probably tomorrow.
  3. Sorry to hear that Urs. How about a less complicated version with added features to follow later?
  4. Four months on since my last enquiry about the status of v2. How are things going? I'm satisfied with v1 with one major exception - the disappearance of Ai aircraft as the flight progresses. On a flight from Minorca to Manchester yesterday Ai were displayed until I reached Paris. Thereafter they all disappeared. Very frustrating. Even the use of a new tool - Air Traffic Manager, available on AvSim's FSX and P3D forums - couldn't keep Ai displayed even with a reduced number of Ai entered. I know this is a SimConnect problem and not EFB. But the sooner we can move to FSUIPC the better.
  5. Hi Urs, Thank you for the update. I'm certainly encouraged to learn Alpha testing is not too far away.
  6. Hi Urs, Any chance of a progress report on v2 please? Whilst I'm 95% happy with v1 the slow disappearance of Ai through a flight is frustrating. SimConnect is the work of the devil!
  7. Thanks Andy. Never would have found that in a month of Sundays.
  8. A small but frustrating problem. On the screenshots of EFB and also at a friend's who's evaluating it the display options on the map are not highlighted. I'm referring to ARPT VOR DME NDB etc. that have a yellow frame around them when selected. I click on them and from the change on the display can see they're activating but the yellow frame around each option isn't shown. I've gone through the settings with a fine tooth comb but can't see what I can change.
  9. Hi Urs, Thanks for your reply confirming a 1280*1024 display will still be fine for v2. There is the option of course in v1 Approach mode to hide some options so you have more vertical space. I tried it on my laptop but the 18" 4:3 display is still better.
  10. Urs, I'm using an 18" TFT with a 1280*1024 resolution for v1. I hope to be able to use it for v2. Will the new layout still suit a 4:3 display?
  11. I know nothing can be done about this in v1 but I just wanted to add that using the Ai viewer in the Data Provider does show several Ai aircraft at the destination airport but they just refuse to show up on the main airport map. I don't really understand why they can be visible on one PC but not on another. I guess SimConnect is totally blocked. This is the only failing of an otherwise excellent application. I hope v2 won't be too far off now. It is spoiling my enjoyment when trying to locate a parking gate.
  12. Nice one Urs! You should have stayed with FSUIPC from the start! It's far more reliable than SimConnect. Any idea when v2 will be available? Is it in beta yet?
  13. Urs, is there any chance this problem can be resolved with v2? It's quite annoying that no Ai show up at all at the destination airport on EFB when in reality there are dozens of them. Trying to choose a parking position is made difficult.
  14. Hi Travis, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and still trying to get used to folder and file sharing. It's quite a bit different to XP. UAC is turned off. I have recovered the situation now and the problem may have been of my own making due to inexperience. I googled the problem and no-one else has had it so it's almost certainly down to me. Thanks all the same.
  15. It appears no-one had permission to access this file. Strange. Anyway, I assigned control of it to Administrators and I was then able to view the contents. Presumably EFB can now as well since it has stopped complaining about being unable to.
  16. Hi, The Data Provider is complaining that it cannot access fafanddmelimits.txt. The file is empty but access is denied even if I try opening it with Notepad. As I am the only user on this PC I fail to understand why I cannot open this file when it's within my User account.
  17. Hi gents, After encountering the same problem as the OP I reverted to my earlier version (1.3). I'll stick with that version as there are no benefits in the 1.5 update for my system. Happy 2014 to you all.
  18. You could share your download folder on the FSX PC so it's available to your other PC.
  19. Thanks Andy. I'll certainly consider it as it will help spread the cost of upgrading.
  20. Andy, I've just checked the price of W7 Home 64-bit OEM and I can get it for £70 from Scan. I've googled 'Windows 7 price rise' but there are no recent articles. Where did you get your info from?
  21. That is a possibility Travis but it wasn't an area that had much Ai. Another stutter-free flight today from LGAV to LFMN. I should make it clear that it's not FSX or EFB that is stuttering. It's the Project Magenta glass cockpit PFD / ND that's the victim. I did wonder if it might be the Aircraft information pop-up display but with that running it was still okay. I'll get to the bottom of it. Yes, some of us are still running XP. I suspect I'll have to switch to W7 next year and will probably buy a mobo, CPU and memory bundle as memory for my current mobo is around 60UKP for 4Gb.
  22. It's the first time I've tried that Urs and to be honest I thought it would impact on EFB but fortunately it doesn't. Still can't work out why it doesn't affect every flight. EGKK-GCTS on Friday was fine but LIRF-EGBB today wasn't. Exactly the same software running on both occasions. Computers eh?
  23. I run EFB on a networked setup and on the same PC as EFB I also run Project Magenta Boeing Suite glass cockpit, its CDU, Radar Contact v4 and Active Sky 2012. This is a E8400 3GHz PC with 2Gb of RAM and a 8800GTX 768Mb card running on XP SP3. On a couple of flights the glass cockpit is pausing every couple of seconds - around the same time as the EFB display is updating. If I minimise EFB or turn off the aircraft symbol for the moving map the pausing ceases. I appreciate I'm running a lot of software on this 6 year-old PC but it should be able to cope. And if it was being pushed too hard why does the problem not happen on every flight? Anyway, I've found a solution which seems to have no lasting effect on EFB. I have changed its priority in Task Manager from Normal to Low. It updates just as quickly but more importantly, the glass cockpit is fluent again. Just thought anyone else having this type of problem might find this useful.
