  1. Hi Urs, Thanks for your reply. I must have spent nearly two hours trying to resolve this yesterday. I even reverted to an earlier version of EFB but that wasn't compatible with P3D v3. There must be a fundamental difference between FSX and P3D because I used exactly the same procedure in FSX to load a plan and that Garmin option would have been enabled because I've never turned it off. The sim was definitely running in both FSX and P3D. I read through some other messages and saw a reference to Garmin which I guessed was for the GPS to use. As that is of no interest to me I disabled the option and bingo, the plan was loaded. I use SimStarterNG to start P3D (and FSX before it) and that now includes an option to load a flight plan when the sim is stabilised. If there was a plan already in P3D and the Garmin option was enabled would that cause the error? It didn't in FSX but I wonder if it might in P3D.
  2. Hi Sasha, I had the same problem with an earlier version of EFB. If you update to the latest 1.6.8 I think it does find the scenery.cfg for P3D.
  3. I've discovered that if P3D v3 isn't running the plan loads fine. But if I try to load it with P3D running it fails. Why? And this is even stranger. On the Data Provider if I deselect Load / Update Garmin GPS system... it works fine. Why would that option cause this error?
  4. Bit more info. I decided to paste the route into EFB and it still failed. This is bizarre. Here is the plan... EGLL CPT UL9 KENET UN14 OKTAD DCT MEDOG UL18 LANON DCT ABLIN DCT LAPMO EIDW Why would EFB not accept such a simple plan? I can't find any reference in the documentation to LOAD_FLIGHTPLAN_FAILED which seems odd given how extensive it is. Help please!
  5. Gents, I've switched from FSX:SP2 to P3D v3. I have uninstalled EFB and reinstalled the latest version, 1.6.8.33244. Everything is configured across my network with the display unit running on a separate PC. When I load a plan generated by PFPX for FSX into EFB it loads okay but when I press Activate the Data Provider beeps and displays the message Exception from P3D received: LOAD_FLIGHTPLAN_FAILED. But if I load the same plan into P3D's flight planner it accepts it. Different situation to the ones above. Is there a solution to this please? Surely I don't need to resave all my PFPX plans as P3D?
  6. Hi Urs, Thanks for taking the time to post your plans for the next version. It sounds like you should have decided on a completely different name as it sounds far more ambitious than v1. I hope you haven't bitten off more than you can chew. Some of those features like restarting EFB from a saved flight seem to go against the concept of a flight logger. But it's your baby and you're doing all the work so who am I to argue? I'm approaching 66. Hopefully by the time I reach 67 I'll be the owner of this software. Keep your nose to the grindstone!
  7. Thank you for the update Urs. But I'm surprised you said you're on a journey for the first time. Surely that was v1? v2 as I understand it is using fsuipc rather than simconnect for the data. Clearly you've had a major setback so I hope the waters ahead are calmer for you.
  8. Hi Urs, I've seen your latest reply this morning saying you're still in alpha testing but you posted nearly 3 years ago (above) you were starting alpha testing. Three years seems an extraordinary long time for alpha testing. It might bring a wry smile to your face if I told you I was considering not buying EFB in November 2013 because I felt v2 wasn't too far away. Can we realistically expect v2 in 2017?
  9. Hi Urs, Thanks for your reply. Fully understand your reasons why it can't be extended to external views. I still enjoy SimpleCam though. Great utility, thanks.
  10. SimpleCam has greatly increased my enjoyment of FSX and for my favourite aircraft, Concorde. Is there any possibility it could be enhanced to include external aircraft views?
  11. Not for me Urs. I'm happy with the PDF option. I just found over 500 logs in that folder. Clearly I never read the manual showing where they would be saved. I've been using screenshots when I needed to send flight info as part of testing Concorde.
  12. Thanks Ken. I shall investigate. LATER: I've found a load of PDFs in that folder. They appear to be generated automatically. Here's one for a Concorde flight from EGCC Manchester to LPPT Lisbon. 60T fuel burn per hour on take-off! Just as well I don't pay for the fuel! EGCC_LPPT_20170123_2102.pdf
  13. Hi Ken, Yes, I have Excel 2010 but only a read-only version of Acrobat. I assume I have to open Explorer and navigate to the correct folder. There is nothing in the EFB interface I can see to do this.
  14. One suggestion. Make the Flightlog an exportable document. And as we're now into a new year any chance of an update on v2 progress? I'm not getting any younger Urs.
  15. Urs, if you need someone to test v2 with the fastest passenger aircraft ever built (Concorde) I respectfully offer my services.
  16. Thanks Urs. Given everything was okay until that .NET update today it does look like that might be responsible. I have configured my views again and so far everything is okay.
  17. It looks like my Concorde profile has become corrupted. I rename it and launched SimpleCam. It displayed a message about aircraft so looks to have loaded okay. It looks like I'll have to set and save views again. Any ideas why that might have happened?
  18. All of a sudden SimpleCam is not loading the aircraft profile. The only thing I can think of that has changed since yesterday is a Windows Update for .NET Framework. Might this be the reason? I'm attaching part of the log showing the problem. SimpleCamErrorLog.txt
  19. Urs, I'm really surprised to see you describe EFB as a flight planner. I've never used it as that. I'm unsure how I would add the various waypoints between the end of the SID and start of the STAR using the various jet routes. I use PFPX to create my FSX plans (minus the SID and STAR) then load them into EFB. I then choose the relevant runways and SID & STAR dependent on wind. Hopefully writing the manuals will be shorter than with v1 as much of what is there will stay I would have thought. Unless you really are throwing v1 away and starting again from scratch. Don't worry about a checklist for Concorde. The FS Labs's team have an excellent tutorial which includes all the required stages.
  20. Thanks Urs. Flight Plan exporters? Why? Exporting to what? Maybe some screenshots when it's released to beta testers? Have you considered a staggered release with some features released later? Like check-lists for example. Just a thought. I use Concorde so my check-list is quite different to slow aircraft. Wouldn't the PMDG 737 & 777 and FS Labs A320 have their own check-lists anyway? Duplicate work perhaps?
  21. Urs, Thanks for the background and the reasons why a rewrite was necessary. I understand you're now using FSUIPC instead of SimConnect which should make communication with the various flight simulation packages more straight forward. There must be an awful lot of code in v1 that requires amending or perhaps you don't work on it continuously. I would have thought changing parts of the interface to make SID and STAR selection would be easier once you had version 1 out. Perhaps v2is radically different. Is this rewrite taking longer than v1 did? I look forward to seeing the final product whenever that it. Hopefully not much longer but it is concerning when months go by with no news on progress. Perhaps that's something you can look at and maybe give us some news when certain milestones have been reached.
