  1. Ingo, first of all thanks for your detailed report. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I'm with you if you say that this is a very bad behavior of ... say SimConnect. Unfortunately there is no one of the developers of SimConnect available anymore so we cannot ask them. Bad luck. The only thing that we can do is trying to find the problem by "trial and error". You mentioned that other programs like ActiveSky and TrafficX are running at the same time. Do they also crash? I suggest to try the next few flights without them just to see whether the problem still occurs even if only EFB is running.
  2. Michael, you're right ... and I have to say "sorry" . I've never tested with this configuration, ... the bug will be fixed with the next version.
  3. Hi, please sign your posts with your real-life first name. Thanks. I tried this but I wasn't successful to replicate the behavior. As already mentioned in earlier posts (see below) the error you reported is raised by the simconnect-object and the information which is given by this error is not documented in the SDK . I tried to find some information by a Google search but I was not succesful. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=49 viewtopic.php?f=5&t=41 I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
  4. Michael, I'm sorry but I can't see anything wrong in what you're doing. Did you close the DisplayUnit after the moving onto the second monitor or was it closed by the restart (maybe due to some changes in the settings that require a restart)?
  5. abax2000, what other add-ons (which are also using SimConnect) are running at the time when FSX hangs? If FSX is being killed it will no longer be able to terminate properly and as a result of this SimConnect will also crash. Therefore also the DataProvider crashes. It's like in a cascade ... Best regards, Urs BTW: According to the forum rules which can be found at the top of every page, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thx.
  6. Tom, I don't know the Realty GNS 430/530 so I don't know what file formats it is able to read. Currently there are the following ways to get a flight plan out of EFB: 1) Route Setup -> "ATS Routing" Copy to clipboard 2) Activate a route to get it as FSX flight plan saved (FSX XML-format)
  7. Hi Bob, it seems that these FS(X)-flight plans are actually FS9 *.pln files. Currently the only way to get them into EFB is to read them by the FSX flight planner (which is able to read FS9 plans) and then save them as real FSX plans. The next version of EFB will have the possibility to also read FS9 plans. This behavior seems to be the time synchronization between the computers and the FSX internal clock. You may switch-off this feature by deselection of the corresponding option (DataProvider > Settings > Miscellaneous > "Synchronize ..."
  8. Oliver, I will have a look ... Most probably for FSX default aircrafts it should be possible to get the required data. In case of add-ons like PMDG it could be more difficult because a lot of data is not accessible through SimConnect.
  9. Version 1.2.1 is available now As per today (Dec 16th, 2010) a new installation package version 1.2.1 is available from the download area. For all new installations please use this package. Installations made prior to Dec 16th, 2010 based on binaries with versions equal to or lower than 1.2.0.* can be upgraded to 1.2.1 using the Update 1.2.1, which is also available from the download area. Quick link to the download area: http://www.aivlasoft.com/download/index.html It is recommended to upgrade to this version 1.2.1. For all questions concerning this update feel free to contact us either by postings in this forum or by e-mail to support@aivlasoft.com
  10. Jens, I apologize for the delay but unfortunately a bug has been encountered just before release . The bug could have been solved now, and therefore I decided to test some more days. If everything is OK, I will release it tomorrow or on Wednesday.
  11. Hi, I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Could you please send all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com. You will find them as follows: Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles. Thanks a lot. Best regards, Urs P.S. Please sign your posts with your first name (according to the forum rules found at the top of each page).
  12. Jean-Louis, It is planned to release it by the end of this week.
  13. Robert, What you describe is most probably due to the "UTC synchronize" function. Please see the DataProviders settings, (Menu "Extras", "Settings" -> "Miscellaneous" tab) and then uncheck the UTC synchronize option. This will prevent the "black out" screen. The DataProvider (hence the name) provides the data for the DisplayUnit. Therefore the DisplayUnit cannot run until the DataProvider has been started.
  14. Bill, I'm also flying the PMDG 744 ... and I'm using EFB on the same computer than FSX is running. The DisplayUnit runs on a second monitor. No problems in my opinion. If you run the DisplayUnit on a separate computer connected through a network I assume you also won't slow down your FSX computer. Any users that can tell about their experience? If the developer is praising its own software it always sounds good .
  15. Robert, I'm not sure whether you mean the EFB-DataProvider if you talk about the "database on the server"? The DataProvider should be started before the DisplayUnit, but only for the first time use (until it has created the database). After the initial creation of the database it doesn't matter whether you start FSX or EFB-DataProvider or EFB-DisplayUnit first. I'm not aware of such an "in-middle-of-the-flight" problem. Could you please describe this in more details?
  16. The server is up and running. BTW: please sign your post with your real first name (according to the forum rules). Thx.
  17. Hi Alex, I'm sorry but it seems to be a problem with 1.0.3. Next version is under way ...
  18. If anyone knows the data format or can send me the description of the *.RTE format I would be pleased to implement a flight plan builder also for the MD11.
  19. Henk, the synchronization of the UTC time is an option which is on by default. Please see the DataProviders settings (=> Miscellaneous) where you may unselect this option.
  20. Hi Henk, If you use FSX in full screen mode you won't see any other window, regardless of whatever application you run beside FSX. FSX must run in window mode and then it depends on the size of your monitor and on the size of each window. Hope this helps.
  21. Frank, at the moment I don't have any idea why the creation of an FSX flight plan doesn't work on your computer. Please send all the logfiles and the two screenshots you mentioned to support@aivlasoft.com. Maybe you could also send the flight plan as an EFB route (by pressing the "Save" button)? Best regards, Urs
  22. Hi, you will not be able to open EFB from within FSX because EFB is a standalone and independent software (it's not a so called gauge). You must start EFB as you would do with any other windows application. Once EFB is running and connected with FSX you will be able to use the shortcuts which can be defined from the DataProvider's settings. ______________ best regards, Urs BTW: according to the forum rules please sign your post with your real name. Thx.
  23. Hi Frank, a) DisplayUnit - Settings - Folders and Links: The folder that you set in the FSX Flightplans textbox is the folder from where the DisplayUnit is getting the FSX flight plans. DataProvider - Settings - Folders: The folder that you set in this textbox is the folder wherein the FSX flight plans will be written by the DataProvider. Obviously both of these textboxes should point to the same/identical folder which must be the default folder for FSX flight plans. (e.g. "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files", for an English version of FSX running on Win7). Don't use another folder or even a sub folder to prevent loading errors for the Garmin GPS. c) DataProvider - Settings - Folders: Only if the checkbox "Create FSX flight plans ..." is selected the FSX flight plans will be created. d) The FSX flight plans will be created whenever you press the "Activate" button from the "Route Setup Module".
  24. Server is up and running! Thanks for your patience ... and a BIG SORRY for any inconvenience!
  25. Hi, I'm really sorry but it seems that the server is down. Unfortunately the server is hosted at an external service provider which also seems to be unreachable. Personally I'm very much disappointed with the current situation because it happened already a few times in the past. Please be patient I'm still trying to get in touch with the support but it seems that on Saturday all of them have gone fishing ...
