William,
I'm working on a test program which should help us to figure out the cause of all these strange things. I will get in touch with you (and Richard as well) as soon as I'm ready.
-
Nicola,
with version 1.3.2 we added a new feature to the "flight plan save" function. If you open the "Save flightplan as ..." dialog you will notice that there is a new checkbox "Write procedures". If you tick this box, EFB will write all waypoints, including procedure waypoints, to the corresponding flight plan format. If this box is not ticked, you will only have the enroute waypoints saved.
Your flight plan doesn't have a single enroute point and therefore I assume that you only get a plan which contains the origin and the destination airport only.

I think that this is the reason why you don't get a flight plan as you expect it.

Hans,
you're right. Ctrl-Shift-I is assigned for reverse pitch. I'm aware of this, therefore I wrote in the manual and on the shortcut-definitions window "... to make sure that the shortcuts doesn't conflict with current FSX settings". But anyway, thanks for the info.

Hi,
could you send me the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com? I'm not sure but maybe there is a hint what could cause the stutter. Never heard that before ... The logfiles can be found as follows: Windows Start Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles.
BTW, according to the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. I like to know to whom I'm talking . Thanks.
-
Richard, William,
do you see a chance that I could get the "IvAp" program, just for doing some tests?
-
Jopie60,
According to the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thx.
These shortcuts are only working if FSX is the foreground window.
Please make sure that FSX has the focus and not any other running program (You must hear the FSX sound, then you know that FSX is your foreground window).
-
Richard,
Any chance to test with IvAp on the same computer than FSX is running?I'm running in a networked environment with both IvAp and EFB running on a second PC.It is also important to know whether ALL pilots flying on IVAO are having the same problems, or does it affect only some of them?
In one of your posts you mentioned that you couldn't see an aircraft on the ground which was close to your aircraft (left or right side, at the gate). Did you check this via OTPV or were you already connected with IvAp and you did this check via TRFC? If it was via OTPV, please bear in mind that the delay can be up to five minutes.
-
Hi,
very strange, never heard before.
Does FSX already stutter BEFORE the DataProvider connect to any DisplayUnit, or only after connecting to any DisplayUnit?
How many other add-ons are simultaneously running on the FSX computer?
Do you run a network? (cable/wireless)
(please, according to the forum rules, sign your posts with your real first name. Thx.)
-
Peter,
Please have a look at the installation manual, page 28 of 33.Where does the Displayunit look for IVAO data? It's too long ago that I had set it up. -
Richard,
There has been changed something in the logic. Several issues could have been eliminated this way but it seems that the IVAO AI traffic now is worse than before.Would be interesting to hear if something did change in the latest update that actually could cause these issues with displaying online IVAO traffic. If you encounter such a situation where you don't see traffic on the DisplayUnit but you know that there must be some traffic, please open the AI aircraft monitor (from the DataProviders menu 'Extras' and have a look what is listed there. The AI aircraft monitor shows the unfiltered and direct outcome of FSX. If there is nothing in the list, then the DisplayUnit cannot indicate traffic, if the list is populated but the DisplayUnit is not indicating this traffic, then it's up to EFB. Are you running a lot of additional add-ons when flying online? Do you run a networked installation?

Hi,
FBS means "Fall back service". It's a service that is mainly implemented for user's convenience. If the connection to the AivlaSoft online data server breaks (this can happen due to maintenance on the server), EFB tries to get online data from the servers at VATSIM or IVAO. If FBS is on, every 5 minutes it then tries to get back to the AivlaSoft server. Once the service can re-connect to the AivlaSoft server the indication FBS=ON disappears.
-
@Richard,
Thanks for these screenshots. You can see that nothing comes out from FSX and therefore EFB cannot indicate the aircraft seen on the above screenshot. It remains mysterious why SimConnect doesn't provide this traffic. As already mentioned in earlier posts, what you see (or what you not see) on the AI aircraft monitor is the unfiltered output from SimConnect. I can't fix it, it's beyond EFB.Here is an example when there are online traffic (IVAO) seen in FSX but not in EFB for some reason. ... but the traffic was not displayed on the Display Unit either. -
Felix,
You're right, what EFB indicates seems to be wrong. I will have a look at this.
-
Hi Felix,
which AIRAC cycle do you use?
-
Richard,
if this happens again, could you please have a look at the "AI aircraft monitor" which can be opened from the DataProvider's menu. This monitor shows exactly the output of FSX, or in other words, what EFB is getting from FSX. If there is a difference between the monitor and what the DisplayUnit is indicating, please take a screenshot so I can see it.

Hi,
After some tests with SB4 I must come to the following finding:
Field "GS [kts]" most probably contains the value for "true airspeed" which is higher than IAS (approx. 2% for every 1000 feet ALT) e.g. ALT = 20'000 feet, IAS = 200 knots, then TAS is 20 * 2% higher than IAS = 1.4 * IAS = 280 knots.
Field "IAS [kts]" most probably contains the value for groundspeed. I compared several aircraft tags in VAT-Spy and all of them indicated the value from the monitors column "IAS" as their groundspeed.
We will do some further tests, also with FSInn and IvAp. As soon as we are sure that we know all the hidden secrets about "how-does-the-pilot-client-software-inject-its-data-to-FSX" I will create a service pack.
-
will have a look at this.
-
oskar11,
please, according to the forum rules sign your post with your real first name. Thx.
You cannot change the speed from knots in Km/h. The indication of the speed is always knots. But if you are flying online (VATSIM or IVAO) and the pilot client software you're using is providing the speed of the aircraft in Km/h it can be set that this speed will re-calculated as knots. (Display-Unit settings > Charts > Traffic: Pilot client software provides groundspeed in Km/h).

George,
could you take a screenshot and send it to support@aivlasoft.com. It would also be helpful if you were enclosing all the logfiles. They can be found as follows: Windows Start menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles. Thanks.
-
Todd,
with "the tool" you mean the "AI aircraft monitor"? If the monitor is indicating 807kts then this is definitely too much. Will have a look at this.
-
Todd,
I know that running in full screen mode is nicer ... but for investigations (and the "AI aircraft monitor" is only built for investigation purposes) it would be helpful if you could give it a try in windowed mode. Thanks for understanding.but the util is kind of useless to me as I run my FSX in full screen modeBTW, downgrading to 1.3.1 SP5 is not a good idea

Clive, Travis
a look into the "LHPP_AF2_X.bgl" file tells me that this file is a FS9/2004 bgl file. It contains unknown structures for EFB, which can only read FSX bgl files.
-
Vic,
thanks for the files. I think that I know what's the problem.
Please open the "Save as" dialog and tick the checkbox of the following two flight plan handlers to have a look at their patterns:
1) Level-D
2) PMDG RTE
Both of them have a single # as pattern. Unfortunately this pattern will also be considered although the handler itself is not marked as "active". This is a bug (sorry!).
But you can easily change the pattern for these two handlers by replacing the # by any other pattern (e.g. "ICAO_From"). Then press OK and untick the checkbox of the handler.
I hope that this workaround will solve the issue.
-
Brad,
Do you mean the OTPV (online traffic preview) function on the ground chart options bar, or do you mean the "AI aircraft monitor" which can be run from the DataProvider's "Data" menu? The Preview function works.Did you verify that there is no range limitation set? (in EFB and FSInn/Squawkbox).
Incomplete Flightplans ...

Nic,
Yes, that's right. But you still and always can save the route itself to the PMDG's FMCs.We should not forget that saving a route WITH procedures is not r/w like. So I always suggest to not save the procedures (SIDs, STARs, Approaches) together with a route. Save only the route. This way a route can be re-used at any time, adding any procedures will only be done later when you are in the cockpit and when you know the winds and the runways in use, etc.
