  1. shosi,

    according to the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thx.

    When I click on "check" there is no Center Position listed.
    There is also a tab called "Unknown callsigns". Did you also check whether it was listed there?

    Edit: Removed [Countries] Part. Same error now for [Airports]. That Problem has to be in the EFB.
    I'm not really sure whether the problem is in EFB if you manually changed that file :? . I recommend to download the latest (unedited) ServInfo.dat from VATSIM and give it another try.
  2. @ Frank,

    I just wanted to report that with SP1b I cannot encounter any stuttering. Nothing more and nothing less!

    Did you already install the latest EFB version 1.3.2 SP1 (released yesterday)? Do you experience any difference?

    And you might have read at the AVSIM forum that I already asked Ryan?

  3. Good morning gents,

    I just come back from a very nice one hour sight-seeing flight over the Alps using the 737 NGX SP1b. The entire flight was performed in the virtual cockpit, and all the time the VSD was "ON". Flightlevel was FL150 (I know that this is not a safe altitude for the area of the Alps, but I wanted to be as close as possible to the terrain just to stress FSX). The frame rate in FSX is limited to a target FPS of 30 (which in my humble opinion is enough to get the impression of a "fluid" film). I could not encounter any stuttering and all the way long I had frame rates between 20 and 30. The more clouds were depicted the deeper frame rate I got.

    Add-ons that were running:

    - AS2012, which generated many clouds

    - My Traffic 5.4

    - EZdoc 1.17

    - Switzerland Pro

    - FSUIPC 4

    - EFB (latest version 1.3.2 with SP1, released yesterday), DisplayUnit running on a second computer

  4. Robert,

    thank you very much for the kind words about EFB!

    Please check the settings (DisplayUnit > Charts > Ground), there are two options which have an impact on the behavior of the "Vectors to runways". Maybe one of these settings is other than before?

    COM1 frequencies: Do you mean that the "pop-up-menu" (which you can use to select the frequencies in FSX) is not available all the times, or do you mean that the frequency ribbon (which shows all the airport frequencies) in the upper chart area is not always visible?

  5. Bill,

    what AIRAC cycle do you have installed on that machine?

    When you select "Departure" or "Arrival" or "Approach" from the progress menu at the top of the chart, you will notice that the blue button on the left (or right) side changes its description according to the selected chart type. Press on that blue button to get a menu where you either can select an overview of SIDs and STARs, or you can select a certain procedure.

  6. Henk, Michael,

    currently a new service pack is undergoing tests at the beta team. It will have some improvements concerning the AI traffic system and hopefully the stuttering too.

    @Henk,

    Just for a test, I would recommend to move the sliders "a bit" to the left. Maybe it helps.

  7. Hi Kevin,

    normally EFB automatically indicates ATC controllers that are online. If no controller is online then at least the UNICOM frequency must be indicated in the frequency ribbon at the top of the chart. If you don't see the frequency ribbon at all, please check whether the ribbon is hidden. In the middle of the horizontal divider you may recognize 4 small dots (see image below). There you can pull the divider up/down using your mouse (press and hold the left mouse button).

  8. Hi,

    The profile view is only available on the approach chart. It shows the final part of the approach, beginning at the FAF (final approach fix).

    If the profile view is not visible then please press the most right button on the chart toolbar (see image below). This will open a sidebar where you individually select whether to show/hide parts of the approach chart. This is to help users with smaller monitors.

  9. Fabrizio,

    I have no idea what could cause your first screen to set such a resolution. EFB is not setting any single parameter in that direction.

    I suggest to do the following steps:

    1) Quit EFB DisplayUnit if it is running

    2) Locate the file "DisplayUnit_UserSettings.bin" which normally can be found at "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Settings".

    3) Remove this file

    4) Remove also the file which is named "DisplayUnit_UserSettings_current.bak"

    5) Restart your computer

    6) Verify and (if needed) adjust the screen resolution

    7) Now restart EFB DisplayUnit. Now you must see the screen where you have to select the settings.

    Hope this helps.

  10. Justin,

    thanks for this explanation, and no worries about the "long" text. It's better to explain in details than just drop a line and let the programmer speculate ...

    I encountered that sometimes controllers are using a callsign which is not defined in the file ServInfo.dat which contains all the callsign definitions. If a controller uses a not defined callsign then EFB cannot recognize it. If such a situation occurs again, please go to the "RouteSetup" page, press the button "Check ..." (next to "Online network") and have a look at the second tab "Unknown callsigns". Let me know whether the missing JAX center (or any other that you're missing) is listed there.

  11. Hi,

    the exception "could not read ...String was not recognized as a valid Boolean." means that the scenery.cfg somehow is corrupt. It contains lines which are not according to what they were intended for.

    This is a snippet from the scenery.cfg and it shows how it should be (where TRUE and FALSE are so called "booleans":

    [Area.037]

    Title=0402 Base

    Local=Scenery\0402

    Layer=37

    Active=TRUE

    Required=FALSE

    I often see it that lines in the scenery.cfg are messed up due to some installations which then might look like this:

    [Area.037]

    Title=0402 Base

    Local=Scenery\0402

    Layer=37

    Active=TRUE

    Required=FALSEAndHereIsSomeTextThatDoesntBelongToHere

    If the DataProvider is parsing the lines it will stuck because it cannot recognize "FALSE" or "TRUE" after Required.

    Please have a look into the scenery.cfg file on your computer and verify whether you find such lines. Normally (on Win7 systems) the file can be found as follows:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX

  12. Cedric,

    I tried to modify the timeout value in EFB, but no luck...
    If you change the values please make sure that they are equal on both sides.
    Is there a way I can test the DP and DU independantly to know for sure if the problem is on the server PC or the client (laptop).
    No, I don't know of such a possibility.
    Any problem with ESET Smart Security 5
    I do not have this software, so maybe other users can help?
    if necessary I'll try to reinstall win7
    Most often the best option, especially if you have a pre-installed laptop where the sellers often install a lot of rubbish ...
  13. Cedric,

    a timeout means that either the DisplayUnit or the DataProvider did not acknowledge a received message within a certain amount of time. The cause for that can be the network, but it can also be another bottleneck (most probably on the laptop).

    What are the specs of this laptop? What are the specs of the wireless network (transfer rate). Are you running other CPU-/Memory-consuming applications simultaneously on this laptop?
