NGX and Simconnect Fix
bradrcfii replied to nzch2010's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
How do I determine how many programs use simconnect? Is it based on applications running on a remote machine? I am running EFB, ASE, on a remote machine and running UT2 on the FSX machine. Thanks -
efb - no display of vatsim
bradrcfii replied to Rainbowtide's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
Hi Guys, I am a little confused. I read this thread and the Simconnect/PMDG threads. My DU does not show VATSIM traffic anymore. On my last flight, I had hundreds of what I think was AI traffic. I turned off the AI traffic but still no VATSIM online traffic. Not sure what direction to go so asking for some advice. Thanks, -
I am not up to speed on the NGX and traffic display issue. I downloaded and installed SP4. Last during during a flight, I showed traffic at every gate while on the ground. I thought that was kind of strange. I turned of the AI program but that did not solve that problem. I had a friend behind me on the taxi way and he did not show on the map. Once in the air, the VATSIM traffic was not displayed. I do not have the AI traffic box checked, only VATSIM. Any suggestions?

Loc dme BC approaches
bradrcfii replied to ontheair's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
They are common in the US and not considered dangerous. Yes, set your HSI properly, part of the standard approach checklist. What I find interesting about the backcourse is that the CDI is much more sensitive since the localizer antenna is located at the approach end of the runway in case of the backcourse. Normally, the beamwidth is set at the threshold to about 400 feet (if I recall accuraltly). So in the case of a backcourse, the beam width is 400 feet at about the runwway length from the approach end of the runway so maybe 1.2 mile final or so. You might think a more sensitve cdi might be safer. As for the crash, I am sure the cause was much more involved that a backwards CDI. -
published holdings
bradrcfii replied to Rainbowtide's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
A possible next step are holds found on STARS. These are more likely to be used meaning holds are issued more often during arrivals more so than enroute, at least online. I think Navigraph has published STAR holdings? -
I cross check TOD from EFB with what the FMC is showing on various payware aircraft. EFB is typically more accurate and consistent than payware aircraft TOD calculations.

iPad support?
bradrcfii replied to CaptainMike707's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
I purchased a used ELO touchscreen on ebay for about $120.00. In fact, I purchased two, one for a CDU and one for EFB. You can download their USB driver software from their web site. These devices work very well for me. -
I noticed a post elsewhere that we may be able to export a flight plan from EFB to Ifly 737NG(FSX). Is this true?

Without any traffic to be displayed, how do I know when the "traffic" display is toggled on versus off? Thanks,

ILS display had wrong fix name
bradrcfii replied to bradrcfii's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
Good catch. I did not look at the plan view and did not notice the fix name so there is no problem. Thanks, -
I hate like heck to bring up KBOS again however, I was cleared for the ILS 4R approach which I activated in EFB. I noticed the final approach fix MILTT had another name in EFB. The rest of the display looked correct, frequency, altitudes etc., and operation was normal. I have installed 1104. I can live with this but wonder what is going on? Thank You,

[solved] KBOS not available in FSX
bradrcfii replied to bradrcfii's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
I want to thank AivlaSoft support for going the extra mile to solve my KBOS problem. It was not the fault of EFB. Some how my scenery.cfg file was corrupted. Travis audited my cfg file, found a solution, rebuilt my file and returned it to me. Great product and unreal support. Thanks, -
[solved] KBOS not available in FSX

I know that EFB works fine with KBOS. It has worked for me as well. I downloaded the Airport finder you recomended. It did find KBOS, listed in the left pane of the window and found the AFX_KBOS_FlyTampa_dummy.BGL in the scenery/world/scenery folder. I am not sure we learned anything? Where does EFG go, which folder does it look for KBOS when selecting the "Origin" airport in Route Setup? Thanks, -
[solved] KBOS not available in FSX

I loaded up FlyTampa Boston scenery. This did not solve the problem For some reason, EFB does not see KBOS as a valid airport. What can I try next? -

I think I will just load up Fly Tampa. I hate to see you spend too many cycles on a problem not really related to your product. If you want to have a look at the Scenery anyway, let me know. Thanks, -

Please see the attached for the message I receive. I do not think the problem is with EFB. It seems EFB is looking for something in FSX and not finding. Other flight plans work fine that do not include KBOS. Thanks, -

I am running a scenery from Boston Virtual ATC that has been working for some time. I do have FT Boston and can load that. Running FSX. If I search on "KBO". I do see KBOI, KBOK, KBOS, KBOW but I also see many other that start with KB. Thanks, I will send the files. -
[solved] KBOS not available in FSX
bradrcfii replied to bradrcfii's topic in EFB v1 (Read only, no longer supported)
I tried to load a plan created by EFB that includes KBOS. It said that it is not a valid XML file and asked if this file is a flight plan created by FSX. I could not attach the file. I received the following message. I tried a different extension with the same error message. The extension pln is not allowed. The upload was rejected because the uploaded file was identified as a possible attack vector. Please advise, EDIT: Files sent to support email address. -

I am not surprised. I hate to be redundant, but did I tell you how much I like this application? Awesome. Brad
