  1. Dave,

    could you please send me all the logfiles (from both computers). The logfiles can be found as follows: Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles. Please send them all to support@aivlasoft.com.

    Another thing that might cause the problem is a "port-number-sharing-conflict". If another program or service on one of your machines is already using port number 51747 then this could be the problem.

    Could you do the following:

    - Close DisplayUnit and DataProvider on both machines

    on computer 1:

    - Open "Windows-Start-Menu"

    - Select "Run" (a dialog box should appear where you may enter some text)

    - enter "cmd", press "Enter" (now a black window should open)

    - type "netstat" (without quotation marks), press "Enter"

    - this will show you a list of all the active connections that are running on your computer. Please make a screenshot of this list.

    Now go to computer 2 and do the same.

    Please send the two screenshots also to support@aivlasoft.com

    Can you tell us what kind of DLink router you're running? Maybe there is another user of EFB which has a same router?

    If you can find the file "SimConnect.xml" at the following folder, could you please forward it to me? C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\[Application Data Folder]\Microsoft\FSX\SimConnect.xml

  2. Hi Albert,

    it seems that with 1.2.1 on several computers the DisplayUnit does no longer start up properly. When reading the settings file the exception is being raised.

    The solution (workaround) for that is as follows:

    - Close the DisplayUnit

    - Open the folder: "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Settings"

    - Delete the file "DisplayUnitSettings.bin"

    - Restart the DisplayUnit

    - Enter the settings

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  3. greatspirit,

    please - according to the forum rules - sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks.

    Can you provide us with some more information as

    - which version of EFB do you run

    - is it an update or a "clean" install

    - networked installation or standalone

    - is it a "stock" airport or add-on scenery

    Maybe you could post a screenshot which shows the situation when the exception is raised?

    Could you please send all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com. You will find them as follows: Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles

  4. Hi,

    according to the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks!

    After installation and configuration of the DU on XP, I'm not able to start up the DU, every time i get an error message, and the DU terminates.

    What kind of error do you get? Can you provide a screenshot? Could you please send all the logfiles from the DataProvider and the DisplayUnit to support@aivlasoft.com? You find the files as follows:

    Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles

  5. Hi,

    according to the forum rules (see at the top of every page), please sign your posts with your real first name. Thanks.

    Can you please send me all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com. You will find the files as follows: Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles.

    Can you also send me the following two files:

    - DataProviderSettings.bin

    - DisplayUnitSettings.bin

    The files are located as follows: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Settings

  6. Hi,

    please check the settings on each side (DataProvider DisplayUnit). The settings should be similar to the following picture:

    EFB.[attachment=0]NetworkSettings.gif[/attachment]

    Green boxes: the values must be identical on both sides

    Red boxes: DataProvider > Any (it will listen to any computers within the same network), DisplayUnit > Remote (plus the name of the remote computer). Don't enter an IP address.

    If all these settings are correct, the problem is to be found outside of EFB (Firewall settings, Network settings, Router settings ...).

  7. Dave,

    turning off the firewall isn't a good idea! Please turn it ON again.

    Supporting network problems is a very difficult job, especially "online" via forum posts. I'm afraid that we must go "back to square one" where you asked "Does anyone know of a step by step tutorial on how to manage a home network". Is there a colleague in your neighborhood that could help you get this network running? I know from my experience that sometimes a problem can be solved in a couple of minutes but one must sit in front of the computers having an "overall" view on the several components of a network.

  8. Hi Dave,

    Are the Aircraft, Library, Flight Logs and Routes folders to be directed to the data provider computer or the display unit computer?
    That depends on your personal liking. If you have installed only one DisplayUnit than it doesn't matter where the folders are located, if you run a second DisplayUnit it might be helpful to have at least the routes folder at the same location.

    In fact on the data provider computer under aivlasoft......... userdata there is only a sound folder.
    That seems to be OK. The sounds folder is used only by the DataProvider.

    Network:

    Did you already have a look into the Windows-firewall-settings on the DataProviders computer? I remember that I had a similar issue many months ago and I opened the firewall settings, then removed all the entries that were from the DataProvider. Then restarted the DataProvider just to force the firewall to show the dialog where I'm being asked whether I want to allow the DataProvider to access the network. That helped (at least on my computer).

    Other questions:

    Are you running a network with a domain controller?

    Do you have DHCP enabled?

    Are the DataProvider and the DisplayUnit within the same network address (192.168.0.xxx)

  9. Salut Jean-Louis,

    of course the guys at IVAO are serious! But it seems to me that there is a lot of misunderstanding concerning the different file formats for FSX and FS9.

    Flight plans that are created by FSX are saved as XML files.

    Flight plans that are created by FS9 are saved as pure text files.

    Just to confuse ... both flight plan formats have the postfix "*.pln".

    Because FSX is capable of reading both formats many add-on developers and websites offer the possibility to create "FSX" plans although these plans are in fact FS9 text file plans.

    @ Andy,

    thanks for pointing in the right direction ;-)

  10. @ all,

    it seems that the FS2004 plugin now works as expected ;-).

    I will integrate the updated plugin into the next fixpack (version 1.2.1). If anyone needs the plugin before this fixpack will be released, please email me and I send you the plugin along with the instructions on how to install it.

  11. Hi,

    It's by design that when running EFB for the first time one must create a new aircraft from within the settings dialog. On the most right tab called "Miscellaneous", just beside the drop down menu "Current aircraft", there is a button called "Create new ...". Please see the "Installation and Configuration" manual, section 3, "Configuration", on page 24.

    Once an aircraft is created it can be selected as the "current aircraft" either from the settings dialog OR from the "Route Setup" dialog (there is also a button on the right side of the drop down menu, called "Edit ...".

    Hope this helps.

  12. Hi Ingo,

    thanks for the plan. A closer look into the several plans shows that the difference seems to be only in the waypoint lines. There are either 6 or 9 elements per line. I just changed the plugin so it should work now for both versions ;-).

    @ Jean-Louis, Patrick, Dave, and Ingo

    To verify whether the plugin works fine I need you as a tester 8-). Can you please send me an email to support@aivlasoft.com so I can return you the new plugin along with the instructions on how to use it? THANKS.

  13. Salut Jean-Louis,

    I just went over to "SimRoutes.com" and generated a simple FS9 flightplan to be sure which data format it is:

    [flightplan]
    title=LFBO to LFPO
    description=LFBO, LFPO
    type = IFR
    routetype = 3
    cruising_altitude=0
    departure_id=LFBO, N43* 37.74', E1* 21.83', +000499.00
    destination_id=LFPO, N48* 43.52', E2* 21.57', +000291.00
    departure_name=Blagnac
    destination_name=Orly
    waypoint.0=LFBO, A, N43* 37.74', E001* 21.83', +000000.00,
    waypoint.1=TBO, V, N43* 19.93', E000* 08.74', +000000.00,
    waypoint.2=GONUP, I, N43* 27.65', E000* 45.53', +000000.00,
    waypoint.3=TOU, V, N43* 40.85', E001* 18.59', +000000.00,
    waypoint.4=FISTO, I, N44* 27.68', E001* 13.63', +000000.00,
    waypoint.5=PERIG, I, N45* 07.03', E000* 58.17', +000000.00,
    waypoint.6=DIBAG, I, N45* 47.37', E000* 47.25', +000000.00, UT210
    waypoint.7=TUDRA, I, N46* 32.33', E000* 46.85', +000000.00, UT210
    waypoint.8=BEVOL, I, N47* 00.72', E000* 55.85', +000000.00, UT158
    waypoint.9=AMB, N, N47* 25.09', E001* 02.46', +000000.00, UT158
    waypoint.10=LFPO, A, N48* 43.52', E002* 21.57', +000000.00,

    You see that especially the lines beginning with "waypoint.nn" are quite different from the plan you provided.

    There is also no information about "AppVersion=9.1.40901". The later information I've only seen in FSC flightplans.

    Can anyone shed some light on me?

  14. Hi Terry,

    from EFB's point of view one must distinguish between "Save" and "Activate".

    When pressing the "Save" button EFB currently saves a flightplan only in its own data format (*.efbr) and this format is only used to re-use a flightplan within EFB.

    When pressing "Activate" EFB is doing the following steps:

    1) it saves this flightplan as an FSX flightplan (*.pln) to the folder according to the current settings

    2) the flightplan will be loaded into the FSX flight planner and Garmin GPS as well (if this option is selected)
