  1. aritzer,

please can you send all the logfiles (from both computers) to support@aivlasoft.com. You will find them as follows: Windows-Start-Menu > All Programs > AivlaSoft > EFB > Logfiles. Thx.

I would prefer to use an IP address ...
If your computer is running within a DHCP-environment then the IP address might change from time to time, whereas the computer name (most probably) won't. Therefore I decided to rely on the computers name instead of an IP-address.

BTW: According to the forum rules please sign your posts with your real-life first name. Thx.

  2. Michael,

unfortunately Navigraph doesn't provide explicit info about procedure turns in their data. I just had a look into the EGAA file (airac-cycle 1003) and I found out that the approach doesn't describe a turn like on the chart you provided. The Navigraph data says

    ILS 17 with TRANSITION BEL

    1) FIX BEL AT OR ABOVE 4000

    2) HDG 122 INTERCEPT RADIAL 167 TO FIX CF17

    3) FIX CF17 2500

    4) FIX FF17 1530

    5) missed approach procedure

This gives me the following depiction:

  3. Frans,

first of all thank you for your effort in reporting about the problem.

For me the question is: Does FSX freeze SimConnect (and therefore EFB as a logical consequence) OR does SimConnect freeze FSX? Which one of them causes the problem?

      - What other add-ons are simultaneously installed and running on your computer at the moment when the exception is raised?
      - Does the exception also occur if EFB is the ONE AND ONLY add-on using SimConnect?

    - Could you create a SimConnect logfile using the instructions given at the following address: http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=58095 and send it to support@aivlasoft.com after the exception has been raised?

it would be great if Urs could find a magical solution to get EFB from within FSX (and not windowed)
Since EFB is based on .net I don't see an easy way to get them as an FSX-internal gauge or anything similar. Sorry.
  5. Hi Terry,

on the screenshot I see that only the DataProvider is currently running. Does that mean that the DisplayUnit runs on another computer? If the DU runs on another computer please make sure that the folder settings for the library are pointing to the library folder on this machine. Does this help?

Btw: thx for the info about "aircraft(s)" ;-) Didn't know that ...

  6. Jean-Louis,

Thanks for the flowers ... 8-)

On my system with Airac-cycle 1003 a lot of SIDs are available either out of 15, or 33, or 26. This corresponds with the Navigraph data file.

But I see a small mistake in the runways.txt:

    LFSB 08 08

    LFSB 26 26

    LFSB 16 15

    LFSB 34 33

    LFSB 16R 15R -> 16L 15R

    LFSB 34R 33R -> 34R 33L

    What Airac-Cycle do you use?

  7. Johannes,

sorry, but I must have overseen that you already mentioned the OS in the topic

I asked you about the language and the OS to be prepared for the advice which I would like to give you: If you say that the "first" folder is not available then this let me assume that the option "Show hidden files and folders" is not selected. To select this option, please proceed as follows (English terms are given in brackets):

    1) Start "Windows Explorer", not Internet Explorer.

    2) On the top left corner you see a menu item called "Organisieren" (Organize)

    3) Open the menu item, then select "Layout" and check whether the item "Menüleiste" (Menu bar) is selected. If the "Menüleiste" (Menu bar) is not yet selected, please do.

    4) At the "Menüleiste" (Menu bar) select "Extras -> Ordneroptionen ..." (Tools -> Folder options ..."

    5) Select the second tab, called "Ansicht" (View)

    6) Search for "Versteckte Dateien und Ordner" (Hidden files and folders)

    7) Select "Ausgeblendete Dateien, Ordner und Laufwerke anzeigen" (Show hidden files, folders and drives)

    8) Press "OK" and close the Windows Explorer

    9) Start Windows Explorer and you should find the folder:

    C:\Benutzer\[benutzername]\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider

    10) Now share this folder for "Jedermann, Lesen und Schreiben" (Everyone, Read & Write)

    Hope this helps.

  8. Terry,

moving the files to another location is just a temporary solution. After the next "FSX scenery data update" you must not forget to move all the files again from C:\ ... to D:\ (or wherever you placed them).

I'm with you if you mean that C:\Program files is a folder which will be treated in a secure manner, but in my opinion (and also based on my experience) the "Local Application Data" folder can be shared without problems.

Please navigate to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider using the Windows-Explorer, then right-click on this folder (in the left pane of the explorer) to see the context sensitive menu. Do you see "Share with" > "Specific people"

  9. beknow,

(according to the forum rules, please sign your posts with your real-life first name, thanks).

On a two-computer-setup you must first share two folders on your FSX machine.

    1) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider

    2) C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files

Thease two folders must then be selected from the DisplayUnit's settings (Folders and Links):

    1 -> Provider data folder

    2 -> FSX Flightplans

  10. Terry,

did you first run the DataProvider so that it can create its index files? If you try to set the DataProviders folder in the DisplayUnit's settings before the DataProvider has created the index files the error message is correct since then the folder doesn't contain the files that are needed.

Please have look into this folder (on your FSX machine)

    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider

This folder should contain some files named from "a.efb" to "m.efb".

  11. Peter,

at least the folders "Provider data folder" and "FSX Flightplans" must point to the corresponding folders on the FSX machine. The other ones "should" but it will not cause serious problems if they don't.

All the dynamic data while in flight is provided/broadcasted by the DataProvider through the network communication.

  12. Peter,

whenever a chart is displayed in EFB you will see two "blue colored buttons". These buttons are context sensitive what means that the content behind these buttons changes according to the current chart type. One of them is for the corresponding checklists, the other one is the button for the chart-dependent selections/tasks.

After you've created/selected your route and you've pressed "Activate" the progress module shows you the ground chart of the origin airport. On the top of this module you see the buttons "Departure" -> "Enroute" -> and so on ... Press on the "Departure" button, to load the departure chart. Once loaded press on the "blue colored button" called "ICAO Departure" (where ICAO stands for the departure airports ICAO code). Now you will get a submenu from where you select your SID. Same logic for all other chart-types like "Arrival" and "Approach". If you already know the SID, STAR and Approach you may add them to the current route using the Route Modify module (which is available from the Route Setup module).

    Hope this helps.

BTW: Details are described in the Operations Manual, Section 5 - "Route Setup" and 7 - "Charts".

  13. Maurice,

beginning to feel a little ashamed for such a trivial thing.
No worry at all! I'm here to help.

I'm a little bit "offside" because I don't have any experience about running FSX on an IMac. Anyway, FSX recognizes if you press a shortcut and sends this information to EFB. - Does EFB reacts on other shortcuts (e.g. Ctrl-Shift-C for Color Mode)?

    - Does FSX reacts on shortcuts?

  14. Hi Christian,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Can you give me some more information on the following items:

    - when does it happen? After a certain time of flying? After a certain situation (pause-mode on/off, slew-mode on/off), starting another add-on, other certain moments?

    - do you run other add-ons at the same time? Do they also stop?

    - did you already try what Rob mentioned?

Can you send me all the logfiles to support@aivlasoft.com?

  15. The error-code "Exception from HRESULT: 0xC000014B" is caused by SimConnect.dll due to not known circumstances and unfortunately it is not described in the SDK (Software Development Kit). The only information that can be found on the internet is "0xC000014B, STATUS_PIPE_BROKEN".

SimConnect.dll is the programming-interface to FSX which has originally been created by the unfortunately no longer existing ACES Studio. ACES Studio has closed its doors, so nobody is around to be asked for support.

If you search for '0xC000014B' over the internet you will see that many other add-ons which are also using SimConnect, must have similar problems. The solutions that are mentioned in their forums reach from re-installing the add-on to re-installing the operating system ... In my opinion it might help.

The following threads are discussing some of these problems:

    http://www.aivlasoft.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=41

    EDIT: 2014-11-29:

One user reported that the exception no longer occurred on his computer when he switched from "Windows-7-Aero" color schema to "Windows-7-Basis". Just give it a try.

  16. Hi,

please sign your posts with your real-life first name, thanks (according to the forum rules).

I'm afraid that I can't give you the right advice because this error is reported by the SimConnect.dll and unfortunately it is not described in the SDK. ACES has also closed its door, so nobody is around to be asked for support. I know that this doesn't help you in any manner, but if you google for '0xC000014B' you will see that many other add-ons which are using SimConnect too, must have similar problems. The solutions that are mentioned in their forums reach from re-installing the add-on to re-installing the operating system ... For me as a developer using SimConnect with EFB this is by far the worst situation because I can't help. This is really annoying and I would be glad to know the solution. On many systems there is no problem but on several there is. Hmmmh, I can only apologize for the inconvenience.

  17. Ingo,

first of all thanks for your detailed report. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I'm with you if you say that this is a very bad behavior of ... say SimConnect. Unfortunately there is no one of the developers of SimConnect available anymore so we cannot ask them. Bad luck. The only thing that we can do is trying to find the problem by "trial and error". You mentioned that other programs like ActiveSky and TrafficX are running at the same time. Do they also crash? I suggest to try the next few flights without them just to see whether the problem still occurs even if only EFB is running.
