Swordfish Posted July 17, 2011 Share Posted July 17, 2011 Hi, Today I discovered that EFB doesn't show ALL online traffic. Because, I saw a lot of online ATC and pilots, but for example Amsterdam Radar was online on EU12 (IVAO) and this was not shown in EFB. I had a bad confrontation with the controller because I didn't contact him......... Björn Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aivlasoft Posted July 17, 2011 Share Posted July 17, 2011 Björn, I often see it that controllers are logged in with an "unknown" callsign. What is an "unknown" callsign: Both (Vatsim and IVAO) have listed their FIRs/ARTCCs in a datafile which is considered by EFB. EFB can only recognize services that are listed in these files. Normally such a callsign consists of the FIR's identifier and an additional information about the kind of service that the controller is providing, e.g. LSAS_CTR means Switzerland Radar. LSAS for Switzerland, and CTR for Center/Radar. In big FIRs/ARTCCs it can happen that an area is subdivided in several sub-FIRs which mostly have an additional identifier like "S", "W" etc. Therefore a controller in the Langen Radar area can login with a callsign like "EDGG_S_CTR". As long as a callsign is used that can be recognized by EFB, EFB will show you this. But several times the callsign doesn't match the definitions and therefore it cannot be recognized, e.g. if a controller were using a callsign like "EDGG_Z_CTR", then it cannot be shown in EFB since it cannot be recognized. Hope this helps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Swordfish Posted July 17, 2011 Author Share Posted July 17, 2011 Hi Urs, Thank you for your fast reply (even on Sunday). Now I understand why I didn't see him. To bad that I still have to use IVAO'S Eye to see if there is some other ATC online. Maybe sometime there will be a solution for this. Have a good Sunday evening, Björn Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Swordfish Posted July 27, 2011 Author Share Posted July 27, 2011 Hi Urs, Isn't it possible to ad the EHAA_*_CTR to your datafile? You see, I really try everything before going to vatsim LOL Björn Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aivlasoft Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 Hi Björn, it's not MY datafile ... it's the official "firs.dat" file from IVAO. All the entries in that file must correspond to the "fir.dat" file which contains the data for the FIR boundaries. If wildcards like "EHAA_*_CTR" or similar patterns were allowed then it is no longer possible to show the corresponding FIR boundaries on the charts. The controllers must use correct callsigns or IVAO must update the "firs.dat" file. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dts Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 IVAO actually update there data monthly, all you need to do is download the new data file, below is the link to the lastest file june 2011, you will need to login to get it. http://www.ivao.aero/softdev/mirrors.as ... IvAeDataUp or you could just redownload IVAE and it should put the lastest update in Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dts Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 a little more testing on this today during my flight to Dallas. As you can see with the image below, KZBW is online, he is logged on as KZBW_CTR, he is in my data folder for the eye as you can see shows within the eye, but doesnt show in EFB, so was wondering what EFB looks for, The entry in firs.dat KZBW::US:Boston:Center:43.8:-71.9 The entry in fir.dat !KZBW 43.64:-76.79 44.11:-76.41 44.17:-76.33 44.21:-76.28 44.21:-76.23 44.24:-76.18 44.29:-76.13 44.32:-76.06 44.35:-76 44.35:-75.95 44.45:-75.82 44.51:-75.77 44.72:-75.5 44.67:-75.7 44.82:-75.75 44.97:-74.88 45.07:-74.97 45.15:-74.78 45.19:-74.56 45:-74.25 45.02:-71.48 45.29:-71.33 45.32:-71 45.69:-70.5 45.91:-70.25 46.31:-70.21 46.42:-70.06 46.75:-70 47.45:-69.22 47.29:-68.57 47.33:-68.53 47.37:-68.48 47.4:-68.42 47.43:-68.36 47.46:-68.3 47.48:-68.24 47.5:-68.17 47.51:-68.09 47.52:-68.02 47.53:-67.95 47.53:-67.87 47.53:-67.8 47.52:-67.73 47.51:-67.65 47.49:-67.58 47.47:-67.51 47.45:-67.45 47.42:-67.39 47.39:-67.33 47.35:-67.28 47.32:-67.23 47.28:-67.18 47.24:-67.14 47.19:-67.11 47.15:-67.08 47.09:-67.07 47.04:-67.05 46.99:-67.04 46.95:-67.04 46.9:-67.04 46.85:-67.05 46.79:-67.07 46.75:-67.1 46.7:-67.12 46.65:-67.17 46.62:-67.2 46.57:-67.25 46.54:-67.3 46.2:-67.22 46.15:-67.22 45.83:-67.58 45.78:-67.81 45.63:-67.77 44.94:-67 44.46:-67 43.99:-67 43.51:-67 43.04:-67 42.57:-67 42.09:-67 41.62:-67 41:-69 40.76:-69.34 40.58:-70.88 40.07:-72.5 40.29:-72.99 40.4:-73.24 40.41:-73.25 40.39:-73.4 40.33:-73.64 40.81:-73.29 40.86:-73.37 40.86:-73.86 41.25:-73.86 41.3:-74.01 41.32:-74.08 41.34:-74.09 41.49:-74.34 41.74:-74.96 41.87:-75.05 41.99:-75.34 42.31:-76.05 42.7:-75.97 42.86:-76.01 42.94:-76.09 42.94:-76.48 42.88:-76.67 43.07:-76.76 43.64:-76.79 !KZBW Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aivlasoft Posted July 29, 2011 Share Posted July 29, 2011 Dave, thanks for investigating ... If such a situation occurs again, could you please additionally take a snapshot of the page http://de1.www.ivao.aero/whazzup.txt (right click on the page and then save as "whazzup.txt"). This page shows all the currently active controllers and pilots. This is the data that EFB considers. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Swordfish Posted July 30, 2011 Author Share Posted July 30, 2011 Gentlemen, In the Dutch IVAO forum somebody gave me the following possible solution: Insert this line: EHAA:W:NL:Amsterdam:Radar:52.8:4.6 into the firs.dat file of the Eye. I will test it next time Amsterdam Radar is online. Björn Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
aivlasoft Posted July 30, 2011 Share Posted July 30, 2011 Björn, thanks for this info. Please be aware of the fact that such manual additions will be overwritten as soon as "the Eye" updates its files. The better way would be to ask someone at IVAO to add this line to their "official" data file. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dts Posted July 30, 2011 Share Posted July 30, 2011 Updates for the eye seems to be a progressive thing and if there is a new sector it seems to get updated very quickly, if however there is a new sector, it could be just a matter of asking the sector who owns it to post the information on the forum and this will update the eye next time round. dont forget thought that EHAA:W:NL:Amsterdam:Radar:52.8:4.6 entry will only say a possition but the actual airspace data also needs to be defined. Update Online tonight Urs the following centres were online , they appeared in Whazzup data and also are in my FIR/FIRS file, Hopefully this is more information for the bug to be sorted LFEE:U:FR:Reims:Upper Control:49:6.2 LFEE:L:FR:Reims:Lower Control:49:6.2 LFEE::FR:Reims:Control:49:6.2 LFEE_CTR:314528:Vincent Riff:ATC:128.300:48.95:4.8:0:0::::::EU2:B:5:0:6:200::::::::::::::::eu1.ts.ivao.aero/LFEE_CTR^§Reims control:20110730144123:20110730130346:IvAc:1.1.14:2:5:::::: LFFF:U:FR:Paris:Upper Control:48.4:3.2 LFFF:L:FR:Paris:Lower Control:48.4:3.2 LFFF::FR:Paris:Control:48.4:3.2:LFFF CENTRE LFFF_CTR:157774:Etienne SENAMAUD:ATC:128.100:49.0128:2.55:0:0::::::EU6:B:7:0:6:200::::::::::::::::eu6.ts.ivao.aero/LFFF_CTR^§Paris Center / CHARTS => https //www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/html/frameset_aip_uk.htm:20110730132351:20110730132351:IvAc:1.1.14:2:7:::::: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
