Using the procedure from EFBv1 I tried updating to 1807 with Navigraph, but the DBbuilder says "No AIRAC data found in selected folder".

I installed 1802 initially (which worked) and if I delete the downloaded AIRAC and replace it with the 1802 that it came with it detects it.

I noticed the 1802 data is in a different format file wise.....

Navigraph promised to publish EFB v2 Navigation Data at the time of release of EFB v2 to the market. Navigraph has been informed that EFB v2 will be released on July 1st, 2018. I'm afraid you will have to wait until Navigraph comes up with the proper navdata. Unfortunately we do not have any influence on that. Aerosoft's NavDataPro however was ready on time.

  2. No problems here. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work with P3D V4.3. Most probably a SimConnect problem that happened during your update. I have here two different systems updated to V4.3 and SimpleCam is still working flawlessly.

Again, at no point did I ask anyone here on their opinion of competitive products, I simply shared my backstory of what led me to my interest in v2 of the EFB program to support my reasonable request for a detailed overview on the changes between v1 and v2 - entirely reasonable to mention the name of competitive products in this situation. Also it would seem you are making rules up on the fly in an attempt to support your deliberate and wild misrepresentations of me, just a quick search of competitive products of this forum yields multiple examples without any form of challenge to them.

This is absolutely baffling, just a simple, respectful and well reasoned request for information about v2 EFB can be met with absolute vitriol from Aivlasoft Staff, what have they got to hide?

    Bob, stop that please!

Nobody is making up rules on the fly nor do we have anything to hide. Your (in your view) reasonable request for a detailed overview on the changes between v1 and v2 can simply not be fulfilled the way you are expecting it. To address my answer as being a "deliberate and wild misinterpretation" of you is something I will simply ignore, as it is a completely illegitimate imputation.

Fact is that we did not issue a changelog or any similar list as there is simply no such thing. EFB v2 is - as has been written also on other occasions - a completely new development and the only commonality with EFB V1 is the EFB part of the name. We give the interested users free access to all User Manuals and we furthermore offer a free 30-days trial for the new product. I have no clue what else you expect.

one thing is not really clear with v2

always using efb in a network environment .

do i have to buy the server v2 or the client v2 ????

or will it be server v2 and the client  comes with v2 download????

Or the server v2 and download the client if needed for network andis free of charge ?????

how will it works for users v1 i have efb v1 via simmarket???

    kind regards

EFB v2 just uses a new naming convention. I can't remember the naming of the components in EFB v1 (sorry it's too long ago that I used EFB v1 ?). I think the DisplayUnit is now what we call the CLIENT. The SERVER is the part that is dealing with the Simulator and must be installed on the Simulator Computer.

The CLIENT is driving the display as you see it on the screenshots.

An EFB v2 installation consists of a SERVER and a CLIENT installation. If you want to use the EFB v2 display within your local network, you just use the CLIENT(s) on your networked computer(s) (as many as you like).

So: if you buy EFB v2, you buy one package containing the SERVER and the CLIENT installer.

You can use all combinations of SERVER and CLIENTS. The most iportant is that the SERVER MUST be on the same Computer as the Simulator. The CLIENT(s) can be on the same computer and/or on additional computer(s).

The second question is not clear to me and it makes me wonder a bit. You could NEVER buy EFB v1 via SimMarket. It was SOLELY marketed by AivlaSoft - that's at least my latest level of knowledge.

Go back and re-read my post carefully please. NEVER did I suggest that Aivlasoft make a comparison with EFASS NG or any other Flight SImulation companion app, I just gave the developer the respect of giving a little backstory to why I am making this suggestion.

Prospective customers shouldn't need to trawl through pages and pages of the manual to find out what the advantages of v2 over v1, nor should they have to install v1 and v2 trials side by side and carefully analyse what is and what isn't in each version of the program. Ultimately "EFB v2 has been developed from scratch" is meaningless without some detail. Companies release iterative products that are developed from scratch all the time but still manage to give you a good overview as to why the product is better than the previous iteration. I would be more forgiving if this wasn't a paid upgrade but since it is some sort of information on why it's better would be more respectful to your existing customers.

I will ignore your aggressive personal attack on me also...

    Bob,

I fully understand your point, however, I'm afraid that you don't understand mine. This is a private forum of the Developer AivlaSoft and for that reason we do not comment on any competitive products or developers here. Furthermore we do expect the same from our customers. This is not a strict rule, but just a matter of decency. There are many public forums where comparisons of any kind can be published. This is the only point that I made in my statement. Which part of this should contain the elements of personal offence will most probably remain one of the (few) unresolved mysteries in my life...?

Okay so what are the advantages then over v1? A few bullet points addressing this on the main website wouldn't go amiss. Spending hours trawling through a manual as suggested here trying to find obscure information is not that ideal really. I tried a v1 trial and didn't like the very complex and unintuitive setup so I bought EFASS NG but since the developer behind that has died in a car accident I am looking to v2 of the EFB program to replace it..

We do not do comparisons of any nature to competitive products. You will have a full 30-day trial period with the new V2 without any functional limitation. So, it's not about speaking of advantages or personal sensitivities. Just try and find out ?.

So I had read the manual and the configuration file is on my desktop and I did run it and made no changes. I did all this before sending this issue to the forum.

That is why I was reaching out for support.

I am trying to get this to work before the end of the free trial period so that I can see how it works before making the purchase.

The correct version is installed. I installed to another drive and directory than the default on installation.

So from my end, it seems as though I have done everything correctly but clearly I am missing something.

Did you store some camera positions to the respective keys? If yes, please look into the folder: "C:\Users\<yourname>\Documents\AivlaSoft\SimpleCam". There must be - along with others - a file named "XXXXXXX.SimpleCam", which holds the stored camera positions attached to the respective keys for a specific A/C. If not then you didn't properly follow the procedures laid down in the manual.

You need to store each camera position assigned to one of the numeric keys 0 - 9 (remember, only the keys of the keypad can be used) by pressing CTRL + <keynumber>. This way a file is created in the mentioned folder and the camera position is memorized for this specific key.

Another hint: don't move the camera with any other means than the keys mentioned in the configurator - especially do not try to "move" the camera using the HatSwitch. It is specific to FSX/P3D that there are 3 things to be distinguished for a specific view:

    1. The Camera position (keys as per configurator)

    2. The Camera View (HatSwitch)

    3. The Zoom Factor (set by specific keys)

Only the Camera Position can be stored ! (which is what SimpleCam does...)

Thank you. I am trying to provide as much information as I can.

I installed. I did not run a configuration as I did not see a configuration file to run.

     It seemed to install properly.

Numeric keypad is activated and when pushing any arrow keys to position the view, nothing happens. When I hit ctrl + arrow keys, the view moves up or down. When pressing ctrl+any numbers from numeric pad, occasionally it asks if I want to change the camera. If I say yes and then push the corresponding number, nothing happens.

Hope that sheds a bit more light on the issue.

    Thanks for helping.

It might be very helpful to read the manual, provided in the respective path: "C:\Users\<yourname>\Documents\AivlaSoft\SimpleCam\Manual"

A configurator icon should have been created on the desktop. If not, access it here: "C:\Program Files\AivlaSoft\SimpleCam-P4\AivlaSoft.SimpleCam.Configurator.exe"

As a short explanation: you need to create a file containing the stored camera positions to your liking. As every Virtual cockpit has different dimensions, a file containing the Camera Positons for each cockpit need to be created. Without this file SimpleCam can of course not work.

SimpleCam isn't working with P3D 4.2 for me. Anyone else have the problem?

    Matthew

Yes, we just noticed that too. Please be patient while we have to find the remedy. Obviously LM changed something on the camera side.

  10. Not an extremely good idea to uninstall and deactivate any sceneries without knowing what causes the problem. EFB can only draw a ground map on what it get's from the corresponding BGL. Whatever is installed it needs a rebuild of the database to properly show the layout. Moreover it will also help troubleshooting to indicate the simulator type. So - whenever something is wrong, it stems from a wrong BGL. Whenever the correct GBL is read, it will draw the correct layout. It's as simple as that :-D

    Hi,

Thank you for the replies, I have several problems since updating Windows 10 Pro to the Fall 2017 update. It created a mess on my machine.

    Bob

Oh well, THIS is the important piece of information that was missing :-D ! There have recently been a number of reports with that Fall 2017 (build #1709) update causing several problems. We will have to wait until MS comes up with a solution or - the second possibility - revert to the former build (#1703 I believe).
