  1. Hi,

it's clearly described in the license agreement, pt 6.2: " ... Patches (within the same version) will be made available to the users for free."

Version 1.0 came out in November 2009. Since then we provided many upgrades with enhancements and improvements. Version 2.0 will be a total redesign and will also contain many new features, but - after almost 4 years of development - it seems pretty clear that version 2.0 will not be for free. Of course there will be a discount for existing customers.

  2. Hi,

the BGL file contains many pointers and values indicating a certain length of a sector within the file. When EFB is scanning the files it has to go from one pointer to the next. After every pointer there is a value that tells how long the section is. If such a value is wrong EFB tries to read "beyond the end of a stream". In other words, this exception message tells you that the BGL file is not entirely consistent. If you have a look at the folder where the logfiles are saved, you will find a file called "SceneryUpdate_log.txt". There you will find any errors listest along with the filename that caused the error.

  3. Tom,

that sounds to me like a .Net installation problem. The error message has been raised by the .net framework and not by EFB so I can only guess.

    - is .net framework 3.5 SP1 installed on that computer? (normally it should with an installation of Win7)

    - did you install SP2 for EFB on both computers?

    - I think that Microsoft has a ".net-framework repair kit" (I don't remember the correct name).

    Re "Firewall":

When the DataProvider has been started for the first time, usually the Windows firewall will come up with a dialog box where you will be asked whether you want to allow the program to access the network. Press "Yes" and the firewall will add an exception for this program. I'm not sure whether the same dialog comes up when starting the DisplayUnit for the first time, since the DisplayUnit is more "passive" than the DataProvider. I personally would also not disable the firewall, but add an exception for the programs instead.

  4. Hi Chris,

thanks for the additional information about FoxIt Reader. As I already mentioned in my earlier post, EFB is using the "Internet Explorer" control which is provided by the .net framework. It utilizes parts of the Internet Explorer to show documents like *.html and *.pdf. Therefore I think that it is necessary to install Adobe Reader to be able to view pdf files in IE. Maybe there is another pdf-reader plugin for the use with IE?

  5. Hi Travis,

(I'm guessing that "Italy" would work, but that's just an American hunch. )
That's not only a guess, that's the truth ;-). Sometimes - depending on the scenery - it's hard to figure out which is the right ICAO code for the country of a certain airport and one of the parameters that is then considered is the name of the country. If the name is not given in English the above mentioned warning text appears in the logfile.
  6. Hi Fabio,

    congrats on your investigations.

instead of searching only in "scenery" subfolder...
Since there seems to be no clearly defined rule where to place the bgl-files and every scenery designer has it's own preferences of "where is the right place" to save the files, EFB analysis the scenery.cfg file for any scenery path which is marked as "active". It takes that path and must scan all the bgl-files which are placed below that path. That's a "disadvantage" of an open system.
  7. Hi Fabio,

    welcome aboard ;-).

I assume that you're using a add-on scenery from LIMC? May I ask you who's the publisher?

    1) can you send me the "installation logfile" so I can have a detailed look what happened there?

    2) When I have a look at the default FSX installation I can see that MAL is the VOR for Malpensa. Also in respect of pt.1 I must assume that something went wrong when installing the add-on scenery. Somehow the MAL VOR is still available in the BGL files although FSX doesn't show it anymore.

  8. Hi,

it seems that you mixed the runway identifiers. On each line you must define the "old" (FSX) and the "new" (Navigraph) identifier for one side of the runway.

    For LSGS that is:

    LSGS 07 07L

    LSGS 25 25R

    LSGS 08L 08L

    LSGS 26R 26R

Although only the identifiers for runway 07/25 have been changed you must enter the lines for the other runways as well.
