GG_Flyer
Greetings, EFBers! This is an all-in-one-basket look at the new features that are currently being tested for EFB 1.3. The first thing to note is that no date has been set for delivery of 1.3. While it should arrive before the seasons change upon us, we can't guarantee a specific date. Second - as always - this update will be free of charge to existing AivlaSoft EFB customers. With that said, let's take a look at what is in store for EFB 1.3. 1. Updated Ground Charts All FSX parking spots have been enhanced to easier differentiate between ramp (green) and gate (blue) spots, with size and jetway cues. Fuel spots are indicated in a near red color ("coral" for the fashion conscious simmer), and if you are taxing to a parking spot, it will be highlighted in magenta - even if ATC doesn't give you the complete taxiway routing path. MORA.jpg The MEF grid for the same area - now it's clear that 2900 feet near to SEA may skirt the Space Needle, so we're okay: Also on the subject of controllers, our best research into Transition Altitudes for every country and airport will be indicated on all ground, departure, arrival and approach charts. Transition Levels are assigned by ATC as they factor in the current governing QNH, but EFB pilots will now know when to set altimeters to standard or local pressures. 3. Other (possibly minor) features There's also extensive support for online (VATSIM and IVAO) controllers, FIRs/ARTCCs, frequencies, and pilots. AI, Online and Multiplayer aircraft are also depicted on every chart. It's too bad only three images can be added per post in the forum, or I could show you instead of tell you about these things. GG_Flyer
Ah, the perfect solution - another post! Here we see a typical route from Billund in Denmark to Cardiff, Wales. Because we're flying today on VATSIM, we've set our UNICOM frequency to 122.8, and since there's no departure Tower or Center controller active, we will use UNICOM for the first phase of our flight. Then once we reach the area covered by London Centre (the crosshatched area), that frequency block will highlight and we will switch to 133.7. Finally once we near Cardiff, that frequency block will activate and we can start dialing in ATIS and Cardiff Approach to ask Wycliffe (or whomever is on staff) if we may please land. Other traffic will also be shown, whether its AI, Online, or Multiplayer - remember these are screens of still-in-beta-development so things such as FL029 are noted for correction. (h/t to the beta testers who originally made these screens - I'm currently grounded....)
