someguy5956
Hello. I have just downloaded the latest version of EFB, the full installer one. The installation went smoothly with no errors, but when I fist started up DataProvider the error message 0x8007007E came up after it had finished going through the FSX scenery files and went to restart. The error message reads as follows: ************** Exception Text ************** System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. that this problem has been seen before, and I searched though the forums for a solution, but I couldn't find one with this error code. On a side note, I'm running FSCopilot and FSUIPC if it makes any difference. I'm currently running Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8100. I'm afraid that this is all the information that I can give and any help would be appreciated. Best Regards, Riley Koczera
aivlasoft
Hi Riley, it seems that the ActiveSky file cannot be found. Please check the filename in the settings and whether the file is located at that place. Usually it is like: "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\HiFi\XEngine\ASX\Weather\current_wx_snapshot.txt"
someguy5956
I don't see anything about Active Sky in the data provider settings anywhere. I did a test earlier and found that the display unit works correctly, but didn't give me aircraft placement or FSX weather data. I don't think it was connected properly. The error message above was displayed for the data provider, but I dragged it out of the way into a corner and kept data provider running in spite of this error. I figure that is why it didn't connect to FSX. Thank you for the help so far, Riley Koczera
aivlasoft
Riley, sorry, that was my fault. It has nothing to do with ActiveSky. The error "File not found" happens at the moment when the DataProvider tries to connect to FSX. But I can't tell you which file is meant because this is beyond the scope of EFB. Just a guess, could it be a file that is listed in either the "exe.xml" or "dll.xml"? These files contain information about modules that must be started when FSX starts. They are located in "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX"
someguy5956
I must say that you have been rather helpful, and I know you have tried your hardest. I looked at those xml files, and indeed one of them did have the addons that start with FSX. I still don't know what causes the problem, but as I try different things, I'll give back information. As I said earlier, the display unit works properly except for FSX connection which I think is achieved by data provider. The error message displays when the data provider reaches the stage of "TcpConnector started" or sometimes "Provider is ready and running". I just achieved establishing a connection, but that was as far as it got before the error message. It usually displays the error before a connection can be made. If we can figure out this problem, then I plan to buy this program after my trial period ends. It would help a lot with my flight planning and would give me the realism I strive for. I don't wish to inconvenience you with this problem, but I want to use this great program properly and in the future. Again, thank you for helping. aivlasoft
Riley, ok, I'll wait for further information and hopefully I can help you to sort out this problem. Just to clarify, the error-message "File not found" is not raised by EFB but by FSX/SimConnect. You can easy identify such messages because they contain information like "Exception from HRESULT: 0x ....".
someguy5956
Well, I have tried many things as recommended by online forums. Nothing seems to work. You were saying that the problem was caused by FSX/Simconnect. Do you think I could be missing a file there? Thanks again, Riley Koczera
GG_Flyer
Hello Riley, Perhaps it's not caused by FSX/Simconnect but they are the ones raising the exception of a "file not found" And it un-helpfully doesn't say what file is missing. No, that would make it easier.... So for general troubleshooting... you can run FSX well I assume? Then let's assume FSX itself isn't missing anything. What version of FSX are you using? SP2 or Acceleration? IIRC, each version of FSX has its own flavor of SimConnect. Now what about SimConnect? Do you use other add-ons that employ SimConnect to talk with FSX? (I'm not an expert with FSCopilot.) If you do and they are working well, then perhaps that might not be an issue. But it seems that the exception is occurring when EFB is trying to connect with SimConnect. So that's the "most likely area" to check into. Have you sent your EFB log files to Urs at support@aivlasoft.com?
someguy5956
I am pleased to say that after reinstalling Flight Simulator twice, the program works flawlessly. I'll do a test flight tomorrow to see how amazing it can be. Thank you for all of the help you've given me, and I look forward to using your product.
