  1. Waking up this old thread to let you know I decided to replace my second computer running EFB so...now I have an ASUS K53SV with a Core i7-2670QM processor, 4 GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with 2 GB and then I also replaced the standard mechanical HDD only running @ 5400 with an Intel 120 GB SSD 320 series and in a word...WOW what a difference to the better and no more problems with using the moving map and EFB just flies almost faster than my NGX can keep up with My FSX rig is starting to cost some serious $ by now but when you get these kind of results where you really notice the improvement and difference I'd say it's worth it !! So for anyone with similar problems I had...now you know what the cure is
  2. I never learned to like The Eye so I'm still using ServInfo to get the latest online info for ATC, surrounding traffic etc.
  3. I do see changes during the flight but the updates are most of the time very late.
  4. Well...in my case the netbook actually boots faster than my FSX computer and in general I don't find it as bad as you describe but maybe I should get a faster computer for my extra programs like EFB and so on because I'm starting to like EFB more and more the more I use it so would be nice if it performed the way it was meant to.
  5. No I don't think it's the same thing because the FIR eventually shows up in EFB as "online", it just takes a long while before it happens even though the IVAO data refresh time in EFB indicates a data refresh has been made. If it was caused by the reason you describe it never would show up as online in EFB don't you agree or am I missing something here? Not a big deal since I also use Servinfo to make sure I always have the latest online status for ATC coverage but of course it would be nice if the latest online data was more reliable in EFB...then I could almost stop using Servinfo
  6. 1. It's a HP Mini 110-3110eo with an Intel Atom N455 1.67 GHz and 2 GB RAM and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 2. Not sure if the CPU might be the culprit here maybe...? 3. Running Windows using the default settings for colors etc 4. On top of EFB I'm running Servinfo, ASE and IvAp
  7. A follow-up question...I'm flying GCRR-ESSA and I'm currently in Amsterdam FIR airspace and they are online shown just fine when looking in Servinfo but EFB still hasn't realized they are online although it updated the IVAO data several times already and I noticed this many times now along my flight...it seems EFB for some reason lags behind what FIRs are actually online on IVAO. Any idea why this is?
  8. I posted about problems where some parts of the EFB window doesn't get updated they way it should when I have the moving map feature enabled and I just discovered another thing and that also explains another questions I had yesterday regarding the IVAO update frequency. What I found today is that if I have the moving map enabled the time at the bottom of the EFB window that tells you at what time the IVAO data was last refreshed doesn't update but shows the same time all the time until I disable the moving map...then the IVAO refresh time immediately gets updated and shows the latest time the data was refreshed. Not sure what the deal is with this moving map feature but in my case it seem in some regard it "locks" some part of the EFB window and won't let them update. This is true both for the yellow rectangles indicating if you enabled to show NDBs, traffic etc but also for the bigger "buttons" at the top of the window showing the currently displayed phase of flight...Ground, Departure, Enroute etc. First I though it might be a problem that my computer doesn't have the muscles but I honestly don't think that is the problem but rather that it is something else that makes the moving map feature consume so much of EFB resources that these other parts of EFB I mentioned don't get the time they need to update. Would be great if this could be fixed somehow because it's rather annoying when you don't know for sure if you can trust the info you see in the EFB window without first de-activating the moving map.
  9. I realize that is a problem Well...will fly the return leg back to ESSA tomorrow and will then use the technique you tought me activating the route and then check it on the chart before the actual flight to see at what waypoint I need to adjust my FL.
  10. Thanks for your very clear answers to my questions, great support for a great product!
  11. Thanks, looking at the chart the way you describe is of course one way to do it. Another way and a thought I was playing with is how neat it would be if there was a country column in the flight log where you could see to what country each waypoint in the list belongs.
  12. A couple of questions related to online flying on IVAO... - is it possible to manually set the update frequency for online data? - noticed today flying over Holland that Amsterdam Radar was online looking in ServInfo but in EFB this was not reflected not on the map nor looking at the available frequencies at the top of the EFB window. The IVAO data was newly refreshed so that was not the problem - there are several 122.8 entries in the list, why is that?
  13. One thing I always find hard is when doing a flight that crosses different RSVM areas where you normally can rely on the NEODD-SWEVEN rule but you then enter an area like in France or Italy where they instead apply a northbound-southbound rule and to know what exact waypoint along your course is the one you should adjust your FL at. Usually there is an "entrance" waypoint just by the airspace border along the airway but since you don't always (or very seldom actually) can see on the name of a waypoint which country it belongs to it's hard to know. Would have been great if you somehow could get this info for your waypoint what country every waypoint belongs to. That would have made all this so much easier! Is there any way I could be helped by EFB to find out this info? Now for instance I'm flying from ESSA-GCRR and the route looks like this... DKR N872 ELPAX Z703 KESUR UZ703 CIV UN872 MEDIL UQ237 LMG UN10 SAU UN857 TERTO ...but the only way I found so far to know where exactly to adjust my FL is to keep an eye on myself using Servinfo where I can see the country borders and then when entering France airspace for instance according to the Servinfo map I look in my FMC (or using EFB) what waypoint is next and use that one and re-file my flightplan but there must be an easier way to do this and where you can also plan for this in advance. Thanks in advance for any tips if this is possible to find out using EFB or any other way for that matter that would make life easier in this regard.
  14. Yes, probably it is and not a big issue really...just a bit annoying having to uncheck-check the moving map feature all the time. What I find strange though is that if it indeed is a performance problem eventually the box should move to the correct segment of flight even with the moving map enabled but it doesn't. Well...will just have to learn to live with it I guess - thanks anyway!
  15. This happens on all routes and just to further explain...it's only the border that doesn't move, the actual chart updates to the correct one both when the program switches modes automatically or when I manually switch modes. Sometimes when this happens also the buttons themselves indicating the different flight segments doesn't show up when switching to the Enroute segment. My guess is this issue might in fact be caused by a graphical setting/effect in Windows 7, had a similar issue with the yellow rectangles showing you enabled the show other traffic feature. Or might be a performance issue with my netbook, almost like having the moving map enabled consumes too much power making other graphical updates not work.
  16. One of the few issues I currently have which in fact is a very minor one is that the border that moves from Ground to Departure to Enroute to Arrival etc at the top of the EFB window during the flight when you pass from one segment to the next indicating which segment is the active/selected one for some reason never moves from Departure to Enroute unless I deselect the 'Moving map' feature. If I deselect it the border will jump to Enroute right away and I can then re-select the 'Moving map' but I wonder why is this...any idea?
  17. Waking up an old thread here...sorry about that but just wanted to let you guys know I got sick of not being able to watch EFB the way it was meant to so I cleaned up my desk and did some re-arrangements so now I have a 21 inch monitor running at 1600x900 connected to my HP Mini Netbook and in a word...WOW did this transform EFB almost to what feels like a new program With this new "tool" on board it almost feels like cheating having all info so easily available Thanks for this GREAT application !!
  18. Thanks, I'll try that! Should also confess that I haven't worked through all the documentation yet so I have still plenty to learn about this software I'm sure.
  19. Hi, From time to time you will receive a direct-to instruction from ATC and when the instruction is to a waypoint not in your current route I wonder if there is an easy way to see and/or search for the closest waypoints around you to identify the waypoint ATC directed you to in an easy way? TIA,
  20. Well I guess it's more oriented towards north America. Nope, it's mostly oriented towards Europe. The developer is Polish, but it has routes for most places around the world. It does have quite a few South American routes too: is that route that you searched a real world one? There are so many airports that obviously there will be many routes not covered as it's users that have to input the routing into their database - this is then checked against the AIRAC and routing restriction documents. Jack Don't know if it's a route flown IRL but I doubt that so maybe it's not a surprise it's hard to find the route.
  21. It is from the Navigraph AIRAC cycles. The FMS data page on Navigraph's website used to include a code to download and enter into vroute, but now they've got an agreement where you can use the latest AIRAC cycle on vroute without a code from Navigraph. Hope this helps, Jack Ok, so does that mean you update the navdata directly within vRoute since there isn't anything to download for vRoute on Navigraph's site anymore?
  22. Hi Edwin, Actualy, I copy/paste the route in the EFB route select window. Simple as that. The only export I use is the one in EFB for the 737NGX. I then import it in my NGX via the FMC and then bingo! Fuel is also calculated in Vroute (does a great job). Have a good flight! Chris Verner Where does vRoute get it's updated navdata from? I remember seeing it over at the Navigraph site but just downloaded the latest AIRAC cycle and couldn't find it in the list anymore...?
  23. Just tried it with GUCY-SBRJ but no routes were found.
