Timeout issues

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm having issues where I keep getting a timeout ,timeoutsnd which is coming from  my data provider (I think) As the message appears in the data log and not the display unit log.

I've never really used my efb  although I've had it for some time  and I'm really not very savy when it comes to networks.

I'm runing the DU on my Laptop and the provider is on my flightsim pc. The laptop connection is wifi

I recieved a new router hub from my internet provider a few months ago, but apart from plugging it in an putting the various passwords in for all my devices that require internet,I've not done much else,so it is possible that my router is causing it

Can anyone offer me suggestions on what to try or look for?

I did see someone a while ago that had ipv6 issues (he turned it off ) but I have no idea where to look or even if it is enabled.

The only other info that I can provide is that My sim pc with the data provider is a win 7 pro machine and that the laptop is running win10 home

I also recently removed fsx as I run p3d exclusively now

many thanks for any help

Pete

Hi Pete,

although I cannot give you some advice on how to proceed with the router, I can explain what the message timeout SND means. This message comes up when either the DisplayUnit or the DataProvider does not reply on a request within a certain time. This can have several causes. You wrote that you run a wireless network. That's usually one of the possible bottlenecks. Another one can be that either the DisplayUnit or the DataProvider cannot respond within the required time because other tasks on a computer take too much CPU power. In most cases it's the WiFi, but also in some cases the weak power of a computer (sometimes a disk defrag can help, or any other things that help to increase the performance).

Hi Urs,

Sorry not been back before now been a bit busy so only having another look at it now.

I tried uninstalling as I had an older version, but still sort of getting the same problem. Without starting a plan or anything the connection stays established without issues but on using a flightplan the dataprovider  stops working now and crashes, and I get this pop up

C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9A30.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml

C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp\WERA5E5.tmp.appcompat.txt

C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Local\Temp\WERA643.tmp.mdmp

As i've no idea what this means, perhaps it might mean something to you, that may help with the problem?

I was not getting this before just continual disconnecting

would you prefer I raise a ticket ?

Thanks

Peter,

I don't have a ticket system, it's just this forum.

What you describe looks like an indication that a Windows event-log entry has been created.

Why did you uninstall to get back to an older version? Older versions most often are worse and contain more bugs than the current version. Usually old versions are also not supported.

As I mentioned in my previous post already, the bottleneck seems to be the WiFi or the performance of one of the computers. You should start improving there.
