CharlieSierra Posted January 16, 2017 Share Posted January 16, 2017 Hello, I have been using AivlaSoft EFB for a couple of years now and cannot start a flight without using it, but I seem to have a small issue since upgrading my weather program. I am sure that before I had upgraded my weather program from Active Sky Next to Active Sky 2016, the destination runway prediction has always been active no matter how far you are from the destination. By 'active' I mean that it always indicated wind position and and correct active runways relative to the wind even if I was still at the gate of my origin airport. For example on a flight from KIAD to RKSI with Active Sky Next, I was able to predict my approach all the way from KIAD. Now with Active Sky 2016, it seems I have to be within 200 NM or so of my destination (RKSI) until the EFB will display the any active runway predictions. It is the same with short-haul flights as well but instead of waiting until being within 200 NM or so it is more of 20-50 NM before the prediction is displayed. It is not that big of an issue, but if I can get it to act as before without having to downgrade back to ASN it would be a huge help. Therefore I must assume that the two data files which are generated by ActiveSky ASN and ActiveSky 2016 might be different regarding the wind information, or ActiveSky 2016 does not provide METAR data for all aircraft instead of only for airports within a certain range? Did you already compare the data files which are generated by ActiveSky Next vs. 2016? I don't have a copy of these programs, so I cannot do the test. If I am not mistaken, it is the file named 'current_wx_snapshot' that the EFB gets weather information from correct? Tried to attach them to this post but unfortunately I was only given a limit of 266.25KB which is not even a quarter of the files. Pictures seem to be too large as well. I did not want to use a public file sharing website as most people are uncomfortable downloading unknown links.
