ridge
I'm testdriving the EFB program and really like it. One question I have is on the Enroute charts I noticed that along the flight route the letters "DCT" are listed. Does this refer to the point along the route that you could begin your decent ? Thanks. Lee
GG_Flyer
Hello Lee, nice to have you aboard! Good point! The letters "DCT" in a route leg actually stand for "Direct" as in "direct from 'this fix' to 'that fix.'" If a route leg were on an airway, the airway ID would be listed instead of "DCT." For example this route string takes you direct from SJC to SAC: KSJC SJC SAC KSAC Soon after departing SKC, you'd see a [DCT] in the route leg. While this string takes you from SJC to SAC via Victor 334, adding four waypoints along the route: KSJC SJC V334 SAC KSAC Midway between each waypoint you'd see [V334]. Etc. We're working on the manuals for we-really-hope-to-release-next-Friday Version 1.2.0 and I plan to include a separate map legend to document these things. Thanks for your question... I might have missed such a detail. (And 1.2.0 will include in its new Flight Information System, auto-calculated Top of Climb and Top of Descent points, which you can elect to plot on your charts.)
