WebMaximus Posted November 18, 2013 Share Posted November 18, 2013 This Santorini X scenery from Aerosoft doesn't seem to be the best one when it comes to compatibility with EFB. I had issues before with one of the runways and now I noticed another thing that doesn't work the way it should with this scenery. For various ground services I use both FSDT GSX and Aerosoft AES and looking at the airport ground chart for Santorini X in EFB the location of the parking spots doesn't match the scenery in FSX and also what GSX and AES expect. I have of course run the FSX scenery update in the DP after installing the scenery and I also made sure there's nothing in SceneryExclude.txt that would stop EFB from recognizing the scenery correctly. Any idea what might cause an issue like this where the parking spots/gates don't end up in the correct location on the EFB airport ground chart? Andydigital Posted November 18, 2013 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Are you sure you aren't seeing an AFCAD for MyTrafficX or similar instead. If you open the GSX airport editor while on the ground at the airport in question it will tell you the exact path to the AFCAD you are seeing in the sim. Andydigital Posted November 18, 2013 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Perhaps its FS9 coded then and EFB isn't able to read it, Aerosoft are notorious for doing this. Try opening the file mentioned in the GSX screenshot in ADE and compile it without changing anything. Obviously make a backup first so you can restore it if something goes wrong. Just tried this and now I clearly see why the ground chart for LGSR in EFB doesn't match the actual scenery and what's used by GSX and AES. For some reason EFB doesn't use the correct BGL but instead a standard FSX BGL as seen in the screenshot below. Any idea why EFB uses this default FSX BGL for LGSR rather than the correct one? Andydigital Posted November 20, 2013 Share Posted November 20, 2013 Yes because it cannot see the Aerosoft version, its unreadable to EFB 1. Its really easy to fix, just open AF2_LGSR.bgl in ADE9X (freeware) or whatever they are calling it now and simply compile it over the existing version of the AFCAD after having made a backup of it to somewhere safe. There could be several other scenery-file-nerdy reasons why EFB doesn't see the Aerosoft, ranging from "you inadvertently added something to the 'scenery exclude' file which is triggered here," to "gremlins ate my scenery file," to "something we've not come across yet." But my money's on Andy's idea. If you feel so inclined, back up that file outside of your FSX installation, load the original into ADE and see if it compiles over the original file. (ADE may report errors preventing a compile - I came across such recently on another commercial scenery.) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Still though, it might be ideal as an example for Urs as to "what to ignore" when he revises his EFB 2 scenery parser.
