1. Hi Urs I've changed the title of my first post as it sounds like EFB was causing the problem which of course it is not, as you say its FSInn Glen
2. Just a heads up to others who use FSInn and EFB when flying online. Last night I noticed when I came to fill in the FSInn flight plan it was already filled in with a very long waypoint by waypoint route. I deleted this and entered the shortened version and sent my flight plan. Later in the flight I checked the FSInn plan again and it reverted to the long version again. Its not a fault of EFB, but whats happening is I had "Create Garmin GPS Flight Plans" ticked which sends the EFB plan to the FSX Flight Planner -as designed. FSInn unfortunately copies this information from the FSX Flight Planner to FSInn so each time you change something in EFB the FSInn flight plan changes. If you fly a non GPS aircraft like say the NGX make sure "Create Garmin GPS Flight Plans" is unticked. I'm hoping there is a way to prevent the FSX Flight Planner sending this info to FSInn so I don't need to keep changing EFB's settings. Glen
3. I also use UK2000 with Gatwick Extreme version 2 installed and I seem to have the same parking bays as the official NATS chart with the exception of the L and R stands. Glen
4. I'm already a big fan of this fantastic program, but I've recently started flying online with Vatsim using the PMDG 737NGX. I have been using either Servinfo or VATspy to get a picture of whats happening online. Which of course means having another program running on my networked laptop. Then the penny dropped EFB has an online mode. I am now able to get all the online information I need within EFB without having to run these other programs and I can change comms frequencies with just a click of the mouse. Nice one Aivlasoft - this program gets better the more I use it Glen
5. Hi Urs Thanks for your reply. I'll leave this problem in your very capable hands Glen
6. Hi I don't know if this is a fault with Navigraph or EFB, but the KENET2M should have a height restriction at MID of 4000', but its not showing up. The Navigraph data appears to show the restriction SID KENE2M RNW 26L TRK 259 UNTIL 10.0 FROM FIX MID FIX D064H AT OR ABOVE 3000 FIX MID 4000 TRK 259 UNTIL 10.0 FROM FIX MID TURN RIGHT DIRECT FIX KENET Airac 1108 Rev 2 in use Glen
7. Urs, I flew today using the Real Air Duke Turbine out of Gatwick and this time ALL AI aircraft showed up in EFB (airfield page). In my case, when flying the PMDG 737NGX I do get some AI aircraft being displayed in EFB, as in my post above, but not all. Regards Glen
8. I'm still getting a similar problem. I'm using EFB SP4 and FSX SP2, I was parked at Gatwick last night (offline) with about 8 parked AI aircraft showing up on the EFB airfield display - OK so far. But while taxying a AI aircraft passed in front of my nose right to left but nothing showed up on EFB. I have also been following an aircraft while taxying, again this did not show on EFB. Glen
9. Hi Urs, Yes I am using the PMDG 737NGX, but it was OK with SP3. The only problem I had with SP3 was a couple or red warning messages. I'll do some more experimenting and let you know what I find. Glen
10. Hi I have just tried a flight after installing SP4 and there was no AI Traffic showing on the map. I was taxying behind an aircraft and there were about 6 other aircraft on the airfield, but nothing on the EFB map ? I double checked the TRC button was pressed but still no AI showing up. Glen
11. Thanks Dave for the info. Did you try the iFly before ammending the SID text files as the PMDG worked OK without ammending for some reason. Glen
12. Hi Urs Many thanks for your reply I have changed the 'FROM' to a 'TO' as you advised, and for EFB it has fixed the problem. However, I checked the PMDG SID files which also said 'FROM' and loaded up the PMDG 737 in FS2004 so I could see a pictorial representation of the SID (KENET2M) on the nav display screen, but that showed correctly with the 'FROM' still in place ?? So it appears only EFB needs a 'TO' instruction at this point in the SID's text file - how strange. Glen
13. Hi I am using AIRAC 1107 Rev 2 in EFB and selected the KENET2M SID from 26L at Gatwick (EGKK). The route from 26L bypasses Midhurst, does a quick 180 and comes back to Midhurst before continuing to D10.0. Not sure if this is a EFB problem or Navigraph ? Glen
14. Hi Andy That was the problem I always use the Windows Classic background, I've just changed to the Windows 7 theme and now the yellow boxes have appeared. I use the basic Classic theme to save resources, any chance to make the 'Yellow Box' work in these basic backgrounds Urs Glen
15. I've noticed by reading the manual (page 14 sec 7) that the buttons on the 'Chart object menu bar' should have a yellow box around the button when selected - mine doesn't. The buttons have a white box around them whether they are selected or not - is there a setting I've missed ? Current version is 1.3.1 19197 SP3 and the computer is Win 7 64bit. Glen
16. If there is more than one altitude restriction within a STAR and the first altitude restriction has passed, will EFB automatically recalculate to the next one ? Glen
17. Hi Yves Wycliffe is correct in that EFB does not actually fly your aeroplane, but what it does do is send the route currently loaded in EFB to the MS GPS when you press Activate. Set the Nav/GPS switch on your aircraft instrument panel to GPS, and HDG on your Autopilot with the correct runway heading set on your HSI (compass gauge). After takeoff switch your autopilot on and the aircraft should fly in a straight line, then if you press NAV on the autopilot the aircraft will turn and follow your route from your GPS. If you now change your route in EFB, like using the Direct To function this sends this info to your GPS and the aircraft will turn to the new heading. Follow Wycliffe's advice to see your aircraft on the EFB moving map. Hope this helps Glen
18. Hi Wycliffe, I've edited my previous post, I was a Flight Engineer not a Pilot. I had the pleasure of delivering one or two 747 Classics into the maintenance base at Cardiff, but I'm blowed if I can remember the arrival procedure. Glen
19. Travis, I think from your answer you can see what I'm getting at. With the route described above, from BRI NDB I could select 'Direct To' CF30, but by that time I would already be in the descent, and the descent profile would then mean a fairly steep descent to arrive at CF30 at the correct altitude. I remember in another similar program, it may have been FS Commander (not sure now) it was impossible to modify a STAR, which is not realistic in the real world, as ATC (if and when available) could vector you to anywhere on the approach. This would be a very useful function in EFB version 2.0 Glen
20. Is there any way to modify a STAR or Approach ? In the above routing I would like to modify BRI direct to CF30 so the Decent profile makes sense, but EFB only gives me the option to Remove STAR or Remove Approach, NOT a waypoint within the STAR (in this case CDF NDB). A STAR or Approach is not set in stone and very often as Wycliffe has said the ATC Controller will vector you from the STAR to the ILS approach. When ATC is not available, it would be useful to be able to modify the arrival (STAR or Approach) during the Enroute phase so a reasonable descent profile is given prior to TOD. Glen
21. Urs, Wycliffe Many thanks for your help What threw me was seeing the transition in the Approach Procedures page saying CDF (Northwest), as I was coming in from the East I thought it didn't apply to me - wrong !! I can now see the Procedural Turns you mentioned Urs, although its a pretty tight left turn inbound to CDF then outbound on the 136 deg leg. Wycliffe, as you say the sensible thing to do is self vector onto the ILS from BRI. Wycliffe I'm currently trying to learn how to use PMDG JS41, FS2Crew Voice and EFB. When I'm happy with all three I'll come and practice the above route on Vatsim and you can tell me how it should be done Regards, Glen
22. Hi I tried to create a short flight from London City EGLC to Cardiff EGFF. The route from the UK SRD gave EGLC CPT CDF1C EGFF. Using EFB 1.3.1 SP2 I set up the flight as follows EGLC rwy 09 CPT6U to CPT then CDF1C to CDFNB. The runway in use was 30 so I used the ILS Rwy 30 option for the approach. I could not get the CDF1C STAR to join the RWY 30 ILS FAF or CF30, there is no smooth transition from the STAR to the ILS approach. What am I doing wrong ? Glen
23. That's good news Urs, many thanks for the info Glen
24. I appreciate this is not a fault of EFB as, I believe there is no 'Holding Pattern' data in Navigraph. One of the primary reasons for buying EFB was so I can have up to date charts while flying on the Vatsim network. Is there any way around this problem of not having Holding Patterns on the EFB charts. Having paper charts kind of defeats the purpose of buying EFB !! Thanks, Glen
