  1. * Windows 7 64 Bit * FSX Box was installed but removed with 'Wise Program Uninstaller' which catches many left over files/folders reg keys, but may be relevant if there are left over folders or keys * FSX Steam single instance installed * Ran FSX_Registy_Repair.exe - changes default reg keys Here are the keys and folders i have (from what i can find) 1b) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 1c) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition 2 - i have both but only FSX:SE installed "C:\Users\<yourname>\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files" - This one seems to be the active one "C:\Users\<yourname>\Documents\Flight Simulator X – Steam Edition Files" 3) Scenery.cfg path: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\scenery.cfg "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX" All appear to be actively updated when i make changes 4.) Processes fsx.exe located: "<install location>\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\fsx.exe" fsx.exe requires that the steam client (steam.exe) be running
  2. thank you, this is great to see. I will copy/add my info to that thread. Im happy to see this product moving forward to support the newer platforms. Though im a long time MSFS user, going back at least 15+ years, i only just recently started using FSX again. FSX Steam, while still really being an old product, is not available tons of people who previously couldn't even buy it if they wanted to. Not through Steam there are going to be tons of new users (and potential customers for you). As i have just recently got back into FSX, that means i have also just recently went though a period of learning and understanding all of the various add-ons that really make FSX in the current day and age actually a lot more useful/fun/realistic. i have found many, and they are all very expensive as things add up. Now that i have had a chance to start using EFB, i really think its one of those must haves, since its one of the more expensive, its going to be a bit less adopted, but still very useful so ensuring compatibility with newer platform will be very important for new customers. Again, very happy to see you moving forward, you have a great product and hopefully this will let you reach many more customers. Thanks for the support
  3. it looks like SE maintains both the new and legacy paths. since i dont have the boxed edition installed, yet both scenery files have the same modification date (a couple days ago), time and size. They are in the following two paths C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\scenery.cfg C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\scenery.cfg There is also a scenery.cfg file in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX" and this also seems to be current I know with some other applicaitons that haven't been updated for Steam Edition there are conf or xml files that can be updates to point here but i dont see any of those for efb. ##UPDATE## so i ran the registry repair tool noted above. this allowed me to do the install properly. Previously during the install the options for the AIRAC data (like Navigraph) were grayed out. after running the repair tool, i could select them and it seemed to fully install, and doesn't force me to the config screen that i cant click ok on without an error. When i ran EFB Display Unit, i got the config screen. when i click ok to close it i get a message The folder "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider" doesn't contain the requested data.. and it carried on about being the first run. I then started AivlaSoft EFB DataProvider, choose to install the Demo, provided the needed data in the configs with no errors. It started a analysis process that took about 5-10 minutes after this was done, i went back and ran EFB Display Unit, and this time i was able to click ok on the config screen, it accepted the details and EFB fully started up. It seems that at the core, the registry repair tool was what allowed me to properly install EFB and get it working. I included the above details for others that may come across this thread or have similar issues. I think i may have a resolved case.. but will update this thread if i find anything else. Thanks to those that offered input and help.
  4. Thanks for the suggestion, just for clarification, this seems to be a bit of an older tools, so running this will be ok if i only have steam edition installed and thats all i use? Just want to make sure that is what you are saying you have and used before i run it myself
  5. as i haven't received any reply to my last post am i to assume there isn't much i can do until SE support is officially added? was really looking forward to this EFB, it would be unfortunate to not have SE support
  6. Thanks for the replies I will clarify.. as in my original post.. While i have FSX Box, and it was installed some time back its currently not - as in, it used to be installed, but it is 'not' installed now The hive: "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\microsoft games\flight simulator\10.0" Does not exist, so i cant make the change recommended by Mike I could add it manually, but not sure if that would help. On my PC, i can browse this path to Microsoft Games, but its empty from there. And for the feedback from Aivlasoft, again, i don't have both installed. is there a way to point to the steam folders? should i point the Provider Data Folder option to the folder where my steam FSX scenery file is? is this what you are recommending? or are you saying there are many internal application components hard coded to the old FSX paths that i cant modify in the settings.. I had seen that SE isnt officially supported, but figured that support was coming soon (seems only logical), i also thought i had seen a number of people that hard it working with SE. Maybe it requires i actually have both box and SE installed? im not sure.. anyways, i appreciate the feedback, hopefully there is more where that came from now that i have clarified i dont have both versions installed, only SE.
  7. Im a long time user of MS FSX but havent used it in many years. Just getting back into it, and even when i did use it before, i never really used many (or any) mods, so im still learning my way through modding FSX and using addons. While i have FSX Box, and it was installed some time back its current not, and only FSX:SE is. In this case when installing EFB, it seems to complete fine, but it in the setup, it asks for the Data Provider folder, defaulting to: C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider This folder doesn't exist, and it wont accept. I have Steam and FSX installed using the standard directory structure, only on a different drive (Not C Drive), not sure if that is the issue, but i was wondering if someone could help direct me to a post on this or the answer. I have searched and i found many topics related to the DataProvider, i couldn't find any that answered this. I also didnt see it noted int he documentation (unless i missed it). Really looking forward to trying EFB out so would love to get this working.
