  1. That did the trick! Had the folder shared but not full control for Everyone. Thanks for the help! Josh Roberts
  2. Nope. I'm getting the same error. The display unit is installed on a laptop, not the FSX and data provider comp, if that helps.
  3. FSX is installed to a separate drive from the "C:" system disk, but I will try the "run as admin" and get back. Thanks!
  4. When I try to save an EFB created flight plan, I get an error stating "can't save to PMDG; access denied" I have shared the PMDG flight plan folder, etc. but I can't save them. Any ideas?
  5. I can send you my logs if you like. On one recent occasion, everything in the EFB folder was deleted! Damn Gremlins!
  6. First install both Data Provider and Display Unit on the first computer (the one with your FSX installation). Then, take the installer that you downloaded to the "second" computer and run it there, installing only the Display Unit, not the Data Provider. Start the Data Provider on the First (FSX) computer, then start the Display Unit on the "second" computer. Wait for them to connect, and it will work.
  7. In answer to the REX question, I'm using Essential plus overdrive, spearmint and whiteners. As to the disappearing EFB folder content: I have removed the malware (I have not been using sys. restore). My EFB has, on 2 occasions since then lost the files again but I found a stop gap solution; I made a back-up of the EFB folder. When It asks for the license again at start-up, I close it, replace the missing files and/or folders, start it again, and it works. Not a proper fix, but I can't figure out what is going on. Josh
  8. I think I know what was causing the deletions. A rootkit (virus) was apparently using system restore to replace itself after nightly virus scans. I have never heard of this before (I fix and build computers for a living) but that seems to be the case. I removed the rootkit, etc. and EFB has been working for 2 days without problems. Still can't get weather from REX, but I'll keep working on that. Thanks Travis for all your help. Josh
  9. By "Old logs" do you mean the ones from a previous install? If so, I no longer have them. I did send a previous batch to you, if you still have them. As to you only being able to guess, I would welcome it as I can't even guess. I cant fathom something external to the program making such specific deletions, especially the same ones twice! what other programs would interact with those files?
  10. Thanks. I have reinstalled both data server and display units, and ran them with no problems. I have saved copies of the disappearing files just in case. hopefully, if they are gone tomorrow, replacing them will fix it. we'll see what tomorrow brings. Crossing my fingers and toes, Josh
  11. I am attaching the log files. As to security programs; Avast free with no aggressive settings, Superantispyware Pro for spyware, scans every night but has only caught tracking cookies in the last several days. Back-up on Sunday mornings with Acronas but no ongoing update or DeepFreeze-like features. After the gremlins ate my kid brother, I was forced to kill them all, so no interference of that nature. FSX is installed on a separate SSD. I will reinstall again and take screen shots as requested. Should I have left the gremlins alive? Perplexed and frustrated, Josh Roberts
  12. Well... I thought I had solved the problem yesterday. I re-downloaded the program and reinstalled on both comps as before. Everything worked on both comps. Restarted comps, fired up EFB, still working. This morning I tried the data provider (FSX Comp) and had to put in license, name and email again. Got the error: cannot find transition altitude (as before). Fired up the display unit on the laptop, got the error: Unhandled exception has occurred...Could not find \\ GODZIRRA\Users\josh\AppData...(etc.) AivlaSoft.Efb.DataProvider\n.bin. It is still trying to connect after 20 min. I checked, "n.bin" is not there. Tried to fire up the display unit on the local (FSX) comp and got the error: Could not find file 'C:\Users\josh\AppData\local\AivlaSoft\EFB\AivlaSoft.Efb.DisplayUnit\s4.bin'. at System.IO._ Error.Winl0Error(lnt32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.10 .FileStream.lnit(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, Int32 rights, Boolean useRights, FileShare share, Int32 bufferSize, FileOptions options, SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES secAttrs, String msgPath, Boolean bFromProxy) at System.10 .FileStream .. ctor(String path, FileMode mode, FileAccess access, FileShare share) at f4.a(String A_O) at cl.qO at yf.iO atjc.gO Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? Perplexed Josh
  13. Thanks for the reply. I did install version 1.3.10 on both comps. there was no "old" or previous install. On my main computer (fsx comp), i installed both the data provider and the display unit. On my laptop, I just installed the display unit. At no time did I install the update as I assumed that the latest version (1.3.10) contained it. I will re-download per your link, reinstall on both machines, and report back. Josh Roberts
  14. I sent the requested logs yesterday and have not heard back from anyone. I purchased EFB over a week ago. I have been patient and I know life gets busy but, come on guys, how about some help form the company I gave my $69 to. Josh Roberts
