  1. Version 2 may not be unless Pete Dowson upgrades FSUIPC or Urs decides to follow the SimConnect route.

A lot of simmers will be in a quandary as to which direction to take - me being one of them. I suspect I will purchase v4 and install alongside v3 and gradually transition across as i did from FSX only getting on board P3D at v3.3.

  2. Hi Urs

I had another attempt earlier to setup EFB with the following results.

Firstly I uninstalled EFB with the Uninstall.exe file, deleted any folders left behind and created by the original setup, rebooted and reinstalled EFB.

I then opened the application and after initialisation pressed ‘Route Setup’. The error message was displayed with the message ‘Specified Network Name No longer Available’. In the Inline Network Box it showed ‘VATSIM/Running’ on a green background. I then pressed ‘Continue’ and once again ‘Route Setup’ followed by Select then EFB Routes. I selected a flightplan and activated it. Everything displayed OK but ‘VATSIM/Running’ was still showing and nothing in the Aircraft Box.

I the shutdown the application and when I went to restart a message bocx displayed indicating there was no access ‘VATSIM/Running’ to the Aircraft Folder on the main FSX machine.

I went to the FSX machine and found the folder share access had reverted to an unshared state. When I corrected this and restarted EFB it started perfectly, all accesses and no sign of the Online Network Box. I have since used it on a number of occasions and without any further errors.

I did take a copy of the Display Unit log but forgot to get the Data Provider log until a few minutes ago (after a few more shutdowns and restarts).

I will send the log files separately..

    Regards

  3. I have just had to reload EFB on my networked PC and when I open the Display Unit I set up the links to the shared folders on the Data Provider/FSX machine. I then select a default aircraft and the unit opens. As soon as I select the button to access a flightplan I get an Unhandled Error with a message that tells me the network is unavailable. After selecting the continue option the default aircraft is removed and an addtional data line for VATSIM is displayed. The display unit then becomes unusable and it demands an aircraft be selected.

After I close down and try to restart the display unit no longer works. I have no idea why EFB thinks I want to connect to VATSIM and am at a loss to resolve how to move on.

The display unit works OK on the fsx machine.

Why is this happening and how can I get it to load without looking for some mythical VATSIM link?

    Thanks

  4. I have just completed a flight from EGKK to LOWW.

Upon leaving EGKK the display was full of live AI heading as you would expect in all directions together with a pretty much full house at EGKK.

As the flight progressed across Europe and in particular as I passed over EDDF I noticed the number of aircraft start to thin out to the point that when I arrived at LOWW there was not an AI aircraft to be seen.

I noticed something similar when flying into the UK fro Dubai a couple of weeks ago where there were less than a handful of active flights over the southern UK in the EGLL and EGKK area. It should be noted that when I arrived at EIDW on this occasion it too was devoid of activity but upon re-starting FSX all was once more well.

BTW, the TRFC button on the menu is/was activated in all screens.

It is also worthy of mention (I think) that I am using EFB across a LAN.

Any suggestions as to what this could be related to will be appreciated.

  5. Periodically the Data Provider crashes causing the Display Unit to follow suit i.e. disconnect.

Upon reloading the Data Provider the Display Unit reconnects without hesitation.

The Data Provider is on the FSX machine and the Display Unit on a networked Laptop.

Also, on occasions the Display Unit will disconnect for no apparent reason and need to be restarted.

Is this a common occurrence for others or just a nuisance for me?

    Thanks

    Andy

  6. I have just loaded EFB to plan a flight from OMDB to OTBD. When I went to select a STAR for the arrival the STAR Overview, Select STAR and Direct To are both greyed out. I checked the Data (AIRAC 1310) and information is present. Just no STARS.

In FSX the stock OTBD has runway alignments as 16/34 when the AIRAC 1310 data shows the as 15/33. In view of this I adjusted the runway alignments to reflect the AIRAC data with SIDs shown but no STARs.

I am using a third party addon OTBD which has correct alignments.

Could this be checked at your end to see what the problem if it is a data of EFB problem.

    Thanks

  7. Hi,

according to the forum rules (see at the top of each page), you have to sign your posts with your real first name. We like to know to whom we're talking. Thanks.

Development of new features in version 1.x has been stopped quite some time ago. Version 2.x will allow the change of the ICAO identifiers.

    Done - sorry

  8. Hello

I was trying to search by typing YSCH in the Advanced Search box then clicking the magnifying glass beside the entry - wondered why it didn't work.

Have now seen the threads but my query goes a little further in relation to the suggestion that EFB could allow the airports to be manually entered and then when transferring the data from the route planner copy only the waypoints.

It could save a LOT of manual data entry.

  9. In FSX the ICAO code for the ORBX version of Coffs Harbour is YSCH. This was changed some time ago in real life to YCFS and is reflected through Navigraph data imports. When I use a flight planner supported by EFB and enter YCFS I get a plan but when I try to import it into EFB it fails. Equally when I try to select a plan from the planner using YSCH I get nothing.

Is there some way around this other than manually entering the required data?

It's not a big problem but perhaps EFB could be programmed to enable the data between the origin and destination airports to be imported whilst stripping out the airport codes.

Just a thought but I do acknowledge the number of instances where this would occur is quite small.

    Thanks

    Andy
