  1. I must be dense Dave: I cannot find OTPV, nor the bottom menu. I have VATSIM enabled on EFB and have done the FP, etc. Can you give me more details about how to see the other a/c and move to a vacant spot before clicking on the VATSIM "connect" button? GG_Flyer: thanks for the offer. I will get one of the FSC plans zipped and on its way later today or tomorrow. Wish I had time right now but.....
  2. Thank you Dave. I did not know about this and am anxious to try it out later today. I will certainly simplify things. It is much more pleasure for me to start from the ramp or a gate. I have been getting flight plans from several places (Flight Aware is a good one too) but usually set up my own and just add in the SIDs and Stars using EFB. Happy skies and a nice tailwind for you
  3. 1. Is it possible to build a flight plan that begins at a gate or ramp location? I have read the manual and checked the screen and cannot find any way to do it. As it is, I must clear the runway before switching on Vatsim. 2. EFB will not accept flight plans created by Flight Sim Commander v8.6. Is there a fix for this? No big deal (I can use FSBuild instead) but FSC is easier for me than other planning software. In the meantime I still find EFB one of my best FSX purchases
  4. 1. Is AIRAC 1103 the free cycle for EFB or is there a later version? 2. Do you recommend buying updated cycles from Navagraph? 3. How do AIRACS help/improve FSX? Just for info: Most of my "flying" involves following proper procedures, using instruments, etc. Thanks in advance Neal H
  5. Sorry I didn't add to my post this morning. I was using another PC and couldn't remember my password. Anyhow...After removing EFB, I downloaded the latest installer and Service Pack 3, reinstalled and everything was perfect again. Strange that the original installer didn't put the Nav Data back ( I searched the PC and could not find it). All's well that ends well
  6. I just reinstalled FSX on a new drive (different drive letter also). Finally today I was ready to get EFB back to work. It was not moved from the original drive but the data provider could not find NAVDATA in the FSX folder. I checked and found that there was no such folder on FSX. I then reinstalled EFB Data Provider. It went through the aircraft checks, etc but as soon as it got to the step about Air_Ac(I think) the "...Stopped Working" Box popped up. EFB is installed on the FSX PC but on a different drive. Should it be installed On the same drive as FSX. Tomorrow I will try another install. I have got to have EFB up and running or I'm sure to get lost!!!
  7. Buy it Now....I cannot think of anything it doesn't already provide. The best/most useful software utility I have ever purchased...especially if you have an extra monitor or laptop networked.
  8. It was running and definitely not paused. No matter...just finished a flight from KSJE to KRNO and EFB was operating normally. I probably did something wrong yesterday. I really should never use the plane icon anyhow. In the "old days" ('50s-'60s) we didn't have goodies like GPS and lots of other nav aids were few and far apart.
  9. Everything seemed to be functioning properly but the plane icon was gray and I never could get the plane on the map. I restarted both the provider and display units (on separate PCs), connection between the two established, but still no plane. Any help appreciated. Btw...I have an earlier thread re. the many hours, and problems, I faced trying to get EFB up and running. As expected, the problem was not EFB but a router that was "too strict". Ten days ago I installed a new router and ALL the troubles went away. EFB connects with no delay, flight plans are a breeze, and the info available sure beats lugging all those charts and approach plates around. EFB gets my highest marks for value. Regards and thanks' Neal H
  10. Please pardon my delay in providing more information but spare time has been hard to find these past few days. I will complete and return the questionaire tomorrow if possible. I know now that the problem is definitely a firewall/network problem. Even f I disable windows firewall it turns itself back on after a reboot. Yesterday EFB worked flawlessly. Booted the display pc today and it could not connect EFB. I went through EVERY procedure I could find to give permissions, etc. After an hour of this I was ready to give up so I closed both the provider and display, brought up Radar Contact and started on the Fresno ramp. Dunno why but I activated the Data provider and client......EFB WORKED!!!!!!!! And I haven't the slightest idea what the magic formula is. What I REALLY want: TOTAL and COMPLETE access between the PCs in my Workgroup then these problems would never exist. So why can't Windows let me do that? Tomorrow I will try again to use EFB. In the meantime I have left the Display PC running. I REALLY like this EFB otherwise I would have surrendered several days ago. Regards to all and wish me luck Neal H
  11. EFB is probably the best sim addition I have ever purchased. Unfortunately though I have struggled for hours to get it configured. It was working flawlessly before the service pack update (Which may have nothing to do with the problem). Now thre display unit which is on my home network goes through the "initializing" stages but the "Connecting" stage never completes. A green light in the lower left corner is on with "Loading..." I have checked and rechecked folder locations, permissions, tested transfer of files across the network, etc but cannot get EFB to function. Both PCs are Win7 Ultimate 64 bits with all updates. FSX is Acceleration version which included all SP updates. I have read all the other posts re. this problem and checked everything I could. Only thing not tried yet is a complete reinstall on both PC. Btw...on the remote PC I have only the Display Unit. Any help getting things up and running appreciated. Neal Howard
  12. Another short flight today...IFR from San Jose to Reno using EFB, Radar Contact, Its Your Plane, REX, GEX, etc. EFB is the cream on the pudding. Every part of it that I tested was just perfect. I landed a few minutes ago and immediately used PayPal to buy a key . Looking forward to that email....no more trial days reminder will be nice. Thanks for such a sweet product. Some call it pricey but it can eliminate the need for at least three other pieces of software. A good buy IMO. Regards to all Neal
  13. I just had a look at the IFLY 737 and it is being downloaded now It is a beauty and I don't even like jets. As for the hijack: It makes me recall the last time a couple of fellows hijacked one of my threads. A strange coincidence but both experienced total loss of control and plummeted to earth (screaming all the way down). Oddly enough, the crash teams discovered that both aircraft had numerous bolts and loosened and fasteners missing. Heh, Heh Best Wishes Neal
  14. Thank you for the quick response and the clear answer to my question. I did add another plane this morning (Pilatus PC12) and used EFB for a short flight (Fresno to San Jose). It is really nice having all that destination data and plates on a separate monitor. My "check will be in the mail" in a few days. Neal
  15. I am in the 5th trial day and learning more each day. Aside from several hours getting my network to share everything seems ok. My question is: When I go to select my airplane shouldn't all my FSX planes be listed? The FSX/...../Sim Objects/Airplanes folder is properly shown in the Display Screen but none of my planes show up. Any help or information appreciated. Best regards Neal Btw.....I am really pleased with this software and will almost certainly buy it before my trial time is over. I do want to try it a bit longer....an expensive program needs a good trial. Thanks for the 30 days with the FULL program too.
