  1. I run EFB with the display module on a networked PC without any issues for a few years. Recently, during flights I periodically get a error box appear saying

"Currently it is not possible to download online data due to the following reason : The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."

The display seems to be working normally though, with Vatsim data ( other aircraft ) appearing on the map etc. Recent flight, this occurred about 3 times in one hour.

Any ideas what could be causing this ?

  2. I usualy fly real world time, but occasionally I would like to be able to select my own time. For example, at the moment I am flying a series of routes around Sweden, Norway and Finland. At this time of the year there is very little daylight but even when I set the time in FSX to daylight to enjoy the scenery, it seems that EFB is resetting it back to real world time.

I've had a look thru the manual and cannot see anything about this. Dioes EFB set the time in FSX, or is this possibly being generated from somewhere else ?

    Thanks

    Andrew

  3. Hi Urs,

    I'm using Windows 7

The only file in that location is a Cimconnect.cfg file.

Now when I installed EFB I did not use Program Files. Its in a directory I use for FSX Apps. ie C:\FSX Apps\EFB\

The only .bin files I can find are located here...

    C:\Users\username\Appdata\Local\Aivlasoft\EFB\Aivlasoft.Efb.DisplayUnit\

In that location theres is a file FormSettings.bin and a series of 10 "s" "r" and "g" .bin files.

  4. Thanks Urs,

Uninstall - reinstall seems to have sorted it.

Odd thing tho. Even after reinstall, there are no files on the DU PC called displayunit_usersettings.bin or .bak. A search shoes a series of .bin files in the EFB subdirectory called g1, g2, g3 .bin, and similar s.bin and c.bin files.

Should there be "...usersetting.bin and bak files created somewhere ?

Howeverm, as I said, all working again and glad to have it back :D

  5. Had a look at that.

    Hmmmm....something odd.

There is no DisplayUnit_UserSettings.bin file on the DU PC.

Had a look at the same directory on the DP PC and sure enough, there is the DP bin file plus its .bak file.

Tried starting the DU but same error and its not rebuilding the .bin file, so unfortunetaly no further forward. I tried reinstalling the DU but no different. That said, I did not uninstall and then reinstall. Should I have done that ?

Flew a couple of flights today without EFB .... God how I miss it !!!

    Thanks for the help.

  7. what was your callsign, if i may ask?

    cheers from HAL55 (aka Marc)

and yup, i even suggested that somebody puts up a countdown clock towards the next edition - it's quite addictive :)

check out the worldflight forum and/or the FB (facebook) - has some nice contributions.

    sorry moderator:

wouldn't know of how else to get a 'private message' in this forum... hints? old fart here

Yes Marc I saw and heard you as HAL55 during my flights. I only managed about 10 or so legs and was flying as BAW994. Unfortunately I had a lot of comms issues with FSInn not dropping frequencies when I tried to change controllers. OK, it would change eventually, but when you are on the ILS and trying to get your landing clearance from TWR its not ideal  Had to bale out a couple of times to avoid causing carnage to the hard working controllers. But I made it to Sydney in the end. Its a great evnt and will plan to fly more of it next year.

  8. Hi Urs,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I know that during high volume online events, Vatsim needs to use some temporary ATC call signs when they are speading the load between a group of controllers, and I agree these are unlikely to be on the Servinfo data base. It's possible that's what happened here. I'll keep an look out for it happening again and get a note of the ATC call sign to see if that tell us anything else.

    Thanks

    Drew

  9. Just spent a fair amount of time this last week flying along with the WorldFlight groups.

On quite a few occassions I found that ATC frequencies that were live on Vatsim did not appear on the ribbon at the top of the EFB display. Some were there , but not all. All the frequencies were on ServInfo, so are definitely in the Servinfo database.

It wasn't a major issue since I could tune via the comms panel in the aircraft anyway, but wondered if there are frequencies missing ?

    Any ideas ?

  10. Hi,

I never fly without EFB now and I dare say I have only scraped the surface of its capability. I particulalry like the facility to select active and standby freq via the Progress charts.

However, one minor issue I have is when in Ground chart, there are no frequencies shown, you need to go to the Departure chart to see them. It would be helpful to have the frequencies available on all charts since depending what controllers are on line you could be calling CTR or Radar when req clearance or taxiing.

Only a minor gripe - still the great product.

    Andrew
