  1. Strange - I always thought the N stands for North.

It does stand for north; however, the reason that an association to this style (5520N or 55/20) can be made to the North Atlantic is because the 5 digit style waypoints are known as North Atlantic "points". These are only used for waypoints which are North and West of the equator and meridian respectively.

    A normal reduced length coordinate is 6 digits long, e.g. 55N20W, 20S40E, 44S32W.

  2. Marc,

Sorry if it was taken the wrong way. It was certainly a compliment and I didn't mean to make you seem accused of something; I believe you! I was watching on VATSpy throughout the week and saw you on every leg that I viewed. All I'm saying is it must've been very difficult to go without sleep for a week.

On a note of English definition, the word impossible is usually used to describe an event that was actually possible, but something pretty much unbelievable. If someone's in an impossible situation it means that they probably would be able to get themselves out of it, but it's used to overemphasise sometime. It has these meanings as well as of course meaning something that simply cannot be achieved. In my case of its usage I was using my first enlisted meaning.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  3. Hello,

EFB relies on your online client i.e. FSInn or Squawkbox to provide the traffic. This means that variables such as you visibility range in your client will determine which aircraft appear. Instead of checking ServInfo it's better to check the FSX multiplayer session, because if the aircraft are there and not in EFB then there is an issue.

Also there are some known issues with the NGX if you're flying that. Before they released SP1 it stopped traffic from showing on EFB on almost all occasions. Now with the service pack it's been showing all VATSIM traffic for me personally, but again some users have still reported problems.

  4. Hi,

According to the forum rules please sign with your real name, that way I know who I'm talking to! Thanks

The 747-400X as well as the rt2 file accepts a universal RTE file which supports all PMDG aircraft. So you can just use the export handler in EFB listed as the PMDG exporter, and it'll work fine with the 744 and can imported from the co-routes. In EFB just ensure that it's exporting to your FSX root folder/PMDG/FLIGHTPLANS folder.

    Hope this helps,

    Jack

  5. I have that scenery and my navdata has the same runways that you noted.

Could it be that you have another EDDP scenery in addition to the Aerosoft scenery? Perhaps something from an AI traffic package??

    Travis,

Could it possibly be that for EDDP there is a default config in the runways.txt file? I'm not at my flight sim at the moment, but I seem to remember seeing Leipzig in the list.

  6. Just tried it with GUCY-SBRJ but no routes were found.

Well I guess it's more oriented towards north America.

Nope, it's mostly oriented towards Europe. The developer is Polish, but it has routes for most places around the world. It does have quite a few South American routes too: is that route that you searched a real world one?

There are so many airports that obviously there will be many routes not covered as it's users that have to input the routing into their database - this is then checked against the AIRAC and routing restriction documents.

  7. Where does vRoute get it's updated navdata from? I remember seeing it over at the Navigraph site but just downloaded the latest AIRAC cycle and couldn't find it in the list anymore...?

It is from the Navigraph AIRAC cycles. The FMS data page on Navigraph's website used to include a code to download and enter into vroute, but now they've got an agreement where you can use the latest AIRAC cycle on vroute without a code from Navigraph.

    Hope this helps,

    Jack

  8. Here is our work around...

    Hi,

According to the forums rules, please sign posts with your name. Thanks

It certainly sounds interesting. We know that the reason for the issue of the traffic not always showing up on EFB in the NGX is due to the aircraft bombarding FSX with SimConnect requests. Perhaps the requests are most vigorous when the aircraft is being setup and loaded.

Hopefully, this hotfix that is yet to be released can solve the issue. The only problem that I see with your fix is that often at busy airports I'll use the OUTPV option in EFB to see where the other aircraft are parked and to not load up on-top of someone else on the network.

I'll give it some testing and see what happens - let's still hope that they PMDG release the fix soon as then we shan't have to do this at all and will be able to use it all normally.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  9. Does somebody knows the developers of FSInn? AFAIK they don't do any further development or maintenance?

    Urs,

The developers of FSInn and CoPilot operated under the FSFDT website. This website went down quite a while ago and since then the developers disappeared; that's why the version number remains a beta as they never got round to properly releasing it.

As far as I understand it it's almost impossible that anyone will make any changes to the software. I spoke to Florian one of the VATSIM Governors who told me a few months ago that a new team got together to make a new version of FSInn - this would have been a new group not linked to FSFDT. More recently though it seems that we'll stay on this same coding and version for quite a while.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  10. @Jack,

Do you know Michal? Maybe we were more successful if someone get in touch with him who knows him?

    Hi Urs,

Yes I sort of do; I previously had an email conversation with him about various exporting handles for another product (an aircraft).

On the other hand more recently I sent him an email and had absolutely no response, but I didn't follow this up and he's usually quite quick to respond.

If you'd like me to request for the data from him about the rte exporter then I can do so.

    Just let me know.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  11. Hi

    I'm a little confused!

If Vroute, FSBuild and Flight Sim Commander are all able to export to PMDG NGX out of the box (thus without an updated SDK) how is it that EFB will not?

    Regards

    Edwindf

As far as I understand it there's an rte format that can be used for all FSX PMDG aircraft. Urs is aware of this, but contained in those files are some parameters that we are not sure of the meaning of. We're all waiting for a response from PMDG to explain what all of these mean so that a PMDG universal flightplan handler can be incorporated into EFB.

    Urs,

As many programs such as vroute and FSC can create this file, would it be quicker to maybe contact someone like Michal of vroute to enquire about the format? - I say this since PMDG seem to be taking a long time to get back to you.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  12. It didn't work for me. My MaxClients was already set to 64 and I have increased that number to 512 but traffic still disappears after some time.

I've not tried it yet, but I'm pretty certain that you've misread Julian's post.

    - You need to work out how many applications you're using that requires SimConnect, add those up. The best number to set will be based on that. Try re-reading the post 8-)

    Thanks,

    Jack

  13. The bgls in the options folder aren't active though, only the one in the scenery folder is. Are you saying that EFB is scanning sub folders too even if they are not active scenery folders? If that's the case then all UK2000 xtreme sceneries will be effected as the option folder exists for all UK2000 sceneries.

Well Andy, all of my UK2000 Xtreme sceneries appear to be affected. - So that finding would appear correct.
