Over the last few weeks I have moved over to Steam edition of FSX, with a new installation of the operating system which made me lose all the EFB & FSX settings. I believe that Steam is the way forward for FSX, as it has stood still for so long. From what I have seen so far the performance is better and more stable.
I have managed to get all of my software installed in Steam I had a few small problems in the beginning and had to wait a while for the new PMDG installers. But now everything is working fine.
Except EFB.
I have done several flights now and I really miss EFB. Have had to resort to using FS Commander but it is not as good as EFB, and is driving me up the wall.
I have tried several things to install EFB but it stops at the beginning with the error report that FSX is not installed on this machine and only the Display unit can be installed.
Having experienced how easy it is to install other applications in to the steam edition, I can not imagine that it would be that much work to modify the EFB installer to work with Steam.
If this is not possible in the short term when can we expect the next version of EFB that will work with steam?
