  1. Thank you for providing the trial of EFB v2  while the interface is an improvement over v1 it does not add sufficient new functionality to justify the price being asked for previous v1 users so I will not be proceeding with a purchase at this time.  This is a very expensive addon when you consider that the freeware addon LittleNavmap provides much the same functionality.  If at some future time EFB v2 is offered at a significantly reduced cost I will review  this decision.  In the mean time the combination of Simbrief, EFB v1 and LittleNavmap will quite adequately cover my IFR navigation requirements.

  2. Right, now I am confused.  I have selected all rwys operational in the Fly Tampa configurator but still can't see rwys 18R/36L and associated procedures inn EFBv2.  Again these rwys and procedures do display in EFBv2, littleNavmap etc.  What have I missed here?  Thanks.

EDIT:  OK figured it out - had to rebuild scenery in the DatabaseBuilder.

  3. OK thank you for that.  I must confess that I have never taken much notice of FlyTampa's congigurator. I take it that for whatever reason none of this is necessary for EFB v1 or for other addons such as LittleNavmap or for that matter PMDG's FMC as they seem to have all runways and procedures. What is the preferred option here use this AFCAD thingy or select all rwys operational in the Fly Tampa configurator?

  4. I will take these last posts as a "yes" as I use 1712 for fsAerodata but will be updating all my stuff to 1809 when it becomes available.  I didn't do a search as disabling the relevant files removed all the errors but I now see that there is an extensive history re FsAerdata on this forum.

  5. Just a slight mea culpa here. The reason the trial client would not run in my case even after fixing all errors in the DbBuilder was due to insufficient disc space on my system drive due to the fact that Windows Update Cleanup has left 9 gig of stuff that I can't seem to remove using Disk Cleanup or Ccleaner.  I have managed to delete some other files to leave a gig or so of space and this has been enough to run the EFBv2 trial.  Now running side by side comparisons between v1 and v2 and the jury is still out.  First impression is that even if I got EFBv2 I would still need EFBv1 and once again like to know if EFBv2 has issues with fsAerodata as most of the errors I had running DbBuilder relate to fsAerdata.  Thank you.

  6. Just to add to this I have disabled the files related to errors in the log - had to repeat this a number of times as each time the DbBuilder would find new errors - until the DbBuilder finished with no errors.  However this hasn't helped as on running the client I get that very annoying alarm and the database loading process stalls at airports. Glad I haven't (yet) paid good money for this thing.  Not looking real flash for a prospective purchaser.  Meanwhile the trial clock keeps ticking but I can't run the trial.

  7. Why then is "latency etc" not an issue for my Win 7" - it has no trouble connecting to an internet time server?  Also why not just have a limited number of uses trial - 5, 10, 20 whatever instead of limited time?  Now after many repeated attempts I can get this to run sometimes but it is still a PITA. However I now have a new problem. When running the DbBuilder I get the following warnings and errors and the client gets stuck loading airports

Does EFB v2 have a problem with fsAerodata?  What is the fix for this? Thanks.

Yes I know read all that before posting!  Comments in my second post still remain.  As things are now the trial is useless.  Grateful that you are providing the trial but if you are going to the effort to do this prospective customers need to be able to access it, otherwise what is the point?  Am I missing something here is there some other reason why I can't run the trial?  Thanks

  9. Thanks - yes a very sloppy system indeed. So sloppy I have yet to get it started.  But I am puzzled, over the years there have been many other developers who have offered time limited trials but none that I have used have had this issue.  Also if my Windows 7 install can connect to time.nist.gov why can't EFB?

  10. After many repeated attempts to use the trial I give up as I keep getting the cannot connect to an internet time server error.  I do have the file AivlaSoft_Efb_V2_0.dlsc in my users.../documents/EFB2/Server/License folder so I gather this is a time out issue and the fix is to keep trying.  Further when I check time date in windows control panel I am connected to an internet time server - time.nist.gov. So for how long do you have to keep trying?  Five minutes, ten minutes, half an hour.  Makes it all a bit impractical to use the trial.  Also, is the clock keep ticking for the trial while I try to get this fixed?  Thank you.

  11. Was very interested in moving up to v2 but I note that flightplan export is no longer supported in v2 according to the FAQ.  Goodness me this was the primary reason that I purchased EFB v1 in the first place.  Very disappointed - a very retrograde step  IMHO.  I will stick with v1.

  12. Hmm, well that's the Data Provider complaining that it can't see the Center runways either. Could you please post me your scenery.cfg file along with your EFB's SceneryUpdate_log.txt and DataProvider_log.txt files that you can find in your \Documents\AivlaSoft\EFB\Logfiles folder?

    Use [my name] at aivlasoft.com

    Travis

Files sent. One thing further if I add the following to runways.txt

    KSEA 34L 34C

    KSEA 16R 16C

    KSEA 16R 16R

    KSEA 34L 34L

34L/16R is renamed (correctly) in the KSEA ground chart to 34C/16C and I no longer get any error messages but but the new third runway 34L/16R is not displayed on the ground chart.

    Bruceb

  13. Runways.txt wouldn't affect the ground chart, only the procedures that are available.

Bruce, have you updated your EFB Data Provider with the ORBX scenery active?

If my Orbx control panel is set to "default" scenery, then I only see two runways - Lefts and Rights. With Orbx active, all are (should be) visible.

Unfortunately updating the Dataprovider with Orbx NA active does not fix the problem furthermore I get these error messages in data provider window

Warning - Navdata runway ident 16C at airport KSEA could not be assigned to FSX runway

Warning - Navdata runway ident 34C at airport KSEA could not be assigned to FSX runway

Available FSX runways at ths airport are as follows: 16L, 34R,16R, 34L

  14. If I have the option FTX Ground Poly + Static Airliners set to off in the ORBX YBBN control panel, during route setup EFB thows a hissy fit and complains that it can't find E:\FSX\ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_YBBHN\Scenery\Orbx_APX_YBBN_Poly_Statics.bgl and EFB freezes. This option is set to off in order to gain a few more fps from this notoriously demanding scenery but why shpould that bother EFB?

    Thanks

    Bruce

  15. What alludes me is how you do you insert a flightplan into EFB with airways eg the one used in the PMDG NGX Tut 2?

    Assistance appreciated

    Bruceb

  16. OK thanks guys I think I have it figured out now. The only thing is that it would be better if ILS details were displayed on the moving map the way FSC does and FSNavigator used to do (no prior procedure activation needed) and the airport information window could be less buried under several menu layers again (sorry to labour the point) like in FSC. As you can gather I am not a frequent EFB user - tend to use FSC - but I do like to use EFB for long distance flights because the moving map displays the world as a globe similar to the way FSNavigator did and unlike the flat earth world of all the other flight planners I have come across.

Thank you again for your assistance.

    Bruce
