  1. Hi,
I am having an issue in launching EFB Data Provider.
I get the following error message (details):
"Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found.
    File name: 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll'
    ".
    Win10 Pro x64 and P3D4
Installation Path is C:\Program Files (x86)\AivlaSoft
Screenshot of error message attached here under.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers

  2. Dear Travis & Urs,

Happy New Year and thank you so much for the long awaited P3D compatible EFB version.

    Much appreciated.

I just installed the full version on the newly purchased P3D v2 and I am having problems with the license not being recognized.

Basically, after entering the old license key or product key, neither of them enable the activate license button.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

    Cheers

    Nic

  3. Update!

I thought I would post some new findings in case others may have the same issue.

I thought the problem was with the installation. Maybe it was.

However, I also found that if the weather provider's server is down, it will not inject weather info into the FSX and EFB.

That's what happened again a few days ago with REX, the connection with the REX server got reset and the wing speed and direction disappeared again.

So, if it happens to any of you, please do look into the weather source for solution, especially if it is injecting info into your FSX.

    Cheers

  4. Version 2 is a completely re-write of the code base with new features, a new and redesigned user interface and much more. Therefore it will not be a free update. Existing users will get a discount on the retail price. Currently no price is defined and also no discount.

Urs, I am sure the majority of the existing users appreciate what's going on behind the scenes and, I for one, will be more than happy to part with some cash, as the only possible token of appreciation for the time you are dedicating to what is being (for me at least) a much anticipated upgrade of an add-on I could not live without during sim-flying :D

Yes, EFB is a very professional add-on for FSX... and with luck, for other flight simulations in the future. :)

    Let's hope so, Travis ;)

  5. You need to speak with REX, if EFB and the aircraft are both showing nothing or ---/-- for the winds this means that no winds aloft are present in the simulator. You can confirm this by enabling the red text at the top of the screen in FS by toggling the function through its various modes with the key combination "Shift + Z", if that also shows 359/0 for example then you know there is no wind in the sim. So this must be an issue for REX.

Thanks a lot Andy. It was very helpful.

It inspired me to try a clean reinstall of REX first, before seeking additional support, which indeed sorted out the problem.

Perhaps it was just a bad installation issue.

    Cheers

    Nic

  6. Recently I upgraded almost at the same time both EFB and REX to latest versions.

And three days ago I added the PMDG B777.

Yesterday I did a flight (YMML to VHHH) and throughout the flight, while REX kept injecting weather into FSX, the wind direction and speed were missing on the both the EFB's Display Unit and the B777 ND.

On the EFB's Display Unit, I could see the a/c icon on the top left corner of the moving map. However, there were no speed and direction values (underscores were in the place of the relevant values) and no yellow wind direction arrow either. The moving map was in "follow the aircraft" select mode.

On the B777 ND, the wind speed and direction + the direction arrow were missing altogether.

I have no idea where to start from to pin point the issue.

I did point EFB settings to the METARXML folder within REX, as opposed to METAR folder used in the past. METAR folder is still available in the new REX version. However, it is always empty. And I did a clean reinstall of REX for this new update, after I had issues with their new updater.

I thought I would start asking here first.

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

    Cheers

    Nic

  7. Hi Urs,

    Thanks a lot again. :D

That Andydigitals post was very helpful and it saved me from wanting to do yet another reformat and reinstall of everything ... I thought, in fact, it was an installation problem.

Now I know where to look for trying and solving the problem ... I am going to try an external frame limiter. Fingers crossed.

    Cheers and happy weekend,

    Nic

  8. Dear Urs,

    This is an official apology.

It is as I suspected ... all I had to do was to click on the TRFC button, which I didn't know it even exists.

Please bear with me. Trying to squeeze in some leisure time in my already limited spare time and not always having the time to read the manuals ... in this case, I was actually reading the wrong manual and by chance I started reading the Operation Manual

    I am sorry!

    Kind regards

    Nic

PS ... I could still use any hints about the SimConnect error message :?

  9. Urs,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I emailed you the requested file.

Few more things I had forgotten to mention:

    1. I keep getting the error message on green tape: "ERROR: Please lower the amount of AI traffic configured. (More than 1000 simultaneous SimConnect requests!)"

    2. I use two monitors. FSX is run in window mode one the main monitor, with the Display Unit on the secondary monitor, alongside REX window.

Not sure if the above can have an effect.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

    Cheers

    Nic

EDIT: I have gone through the Operations Manual (release August 2011) and I have a sickening feeling that the answer may lay at page 19 of Section 7 - Charts, which I did overlook earlier on.

I may be able to check that only this evening (UTC + 8). And, if that is the case, I will be very embarrassed and I would deeply apologize for wasting your time.

With that been said, if you have any idea about the error message from SimConnect, in case it is related to the EFB, it will help solving something that has been bugging me for months and which I wish to resolve soon, or in the worse scenario by yet another formatting and clean installation at some point in my rare spare time :)

  10. Hi,

I ma having the same problem and I thought I would tag on this thread already started on the same subject, even if the OP had his problem solved ... lucky him :)

Traffic settings are as suggested in the Installation manual.

Ai Traffic monitor gets filled after starting a flight and I can see AI Traffic flying around me. However no AI Traffic can be seen in the Display Unit, neither airborne nor on the ground.

I tried and reset to defaults, like the OP did. No luck on my side.

The traffic add-on I am using is MyTraffic X 54b and the following are my settings for Traffic in FSX

    [TrafficManager]

    AIRPORT_SCENERY_DENSITY=2

    AirlineDensity=30

    FreewayDensity=20

    GADensity=30

    IFROnly=0

    LeisureBoatsDensity=40

    ShipsAndFerriesDensity=40

    My hardware: i7 2600 - GTX 660 Ti - 16GB RAM - HDD= WD Black Caviar 1Tb

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Cheers

  11. Ok, hit me with the runway IDs that you see in EFB for KJAX (or another airport) and I'll reply with the lines that your runways.txt file needs to align them with Navigraph data.

That's one of the nice things about the runways.txt concept. For any given airport you can have a scenery that's different than mine and ours can equally differ as well from someone else's.

Just add the correct entries in each of our runways.txt files and everyone's happy (as "happy as everyone can be" of course).

    Travis

In some instances I have encountered some unmatching runways issues ... at ZSPD, if I remember correctly.

Is there a tutorial on how to edit the runways.txt file (i.e. a guidline on what info to look for and at, and what to change and how) ... ?

    Cheers

  12. We should not forget that saving a route WITH procedures is not r/w like. So I always suggest to not save the procedures (SIDs, STARs, Approaches) together with a route. Save only the route. This way a route can be re-used at any time, adding any procedures will only be done later when you are in the cockpit and when you know the winds and the runways in use, etc.

    Great advice!

    Many thanks again.

    Cheers

    Nic

  13. I took this step in observance of PMDG's intent (conveyed to us) that they would shift to not supporting procedures on their 737NG's FMC.

    Regards,

Really? Does that mean we won't be able to export/save procedures to PMDG's FMC anymore?

If that's so, while my fav a/c is the iFly 737NGX and I only seldom fly the PMDG 747 and 748, that is still a little bummer :(

    Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

    Cheers

    Nic

  14. Nicola,

with version 1.3.2 we added a new feature to the "flight plan save" function. If you open the "Save flightplan as ..." dialog you will notice that there is a new checkbox "Write procedures". If you tick this box, EFB will write all waypoints, including procedure waypoints, to the corresponding flight plan format. If this box is not ticked, you will only have the enroute waypoints saved.

Your flight plan doesn't have a single enroute point and therefore I assume that you only get a plan which contains the origin and the destination airport only.

    .......................

I think that this is the reason why you don't get a flight plan as you expect it.

    Thank you Urs,

I had no idea of that feature ... I have been clicking on the SAVE button next to ACTIVATE all along

You are right about the missing enroute waypoints. I am not sure why!?!? :?

In the past, when I selected the two Dep/Arr airports ICAO and clicked ACTIVATE, I remember that EFB automatically built a complete flight plan, to which one only needed to inserts the SID/STAR. However, now when I click on activate it does not insert the enroute waypoints. And because VHHX is now a fictitious airport, I can't check the route with the online RouteFinder or VATroute provided in EFB.

So, I am trying to figure out how to enter the enroute waypoints manually. But, so far I have not managed to understand how it's done .... I have read the manual (pages 15-18) and I am following the instructions :(

For instance, based on the above flighplan, if I click in the lower pane on either AND (the last WPT of the SID) or MAGOG (= the first WPT of the STAR), I do not get any Navaids in the upper pane, regardless what range in Nm I have selected ...

If I am allowed a suggestion, besides the procedure explained at pages 15-18 in the manual, it would be nice to be "also" able to select a route visually, that is, like it's done in FSX, i.e. by "dragging" the flight path line shown in the preview to the desired waypoints if one wants to add that wpt, or remove an unwanted waypoint by clicking on it and then on the delete button :ugeek:

Anyhow, thank you again for your time spent looking into this ... I will check everything again tonight.

    Cheers

    Nic

  15. Travis,

To answer your earlier question correctly I should have added that I did not fly that route after upgrading to EFB 132. That is, the route is OK with EFB 131 SP5 and AIRAC cycle 1109.

After creating an image of the current OS tomorrow, I will have no problems to make those tests I had mentioned.

It bugs me too to find a solution, you know? ;)

And if that means helping you finding a solutin and saving you time, so be it.

Now I am really going to bed .... cheers

    Nic

  16. Travis,

I just remounted an image of the OS created at the time when all was well and EFB was 1.3.1 SP5 ... it's OK, I had a couple of unrelated things that I wanted to change and this gave me the excuse to address that as well.

To answer your question, yes, I was able to export the very same route to a complete flightplan in iFly, PMDG.

In fact, with the now downgraded EFB 131 SP5 and the earlier (for me) AIRAC 1109 I was just able to recreate that very same EFB route and export the relevant complete flightplan to iFly and PMDG and FSX, which you may download both from this link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13021350/EFB-ZSPDtoVHHX.zip

The flightplan appears complete when recalled through the a/c's FMC.

Now it's late I need to go to bed. However, my plan is not to re-create an image of the current OS, after which I will upgrade EFB to 1.3.2 and run a test before upgrading also the Navigraph and see if it is Navigraph responsible for this issue.

    Will keep you posted.

M/W, thanks a lot for the kind assistance.

    Cheers

    Nic

  17. Thanks William, this evening I should be able to remount an earlier installation with EFB 1.3.1 ... will report later how it goes, after everything else has been fixed :)

Sorry to hear about yr VHHX experience .... have you ever given it a second try? To me, while it is quite demanding, it gives me a great feeling of achievement when I get it right :P

  18. There is something in your route that EFB does not like which is why there is nothing appearing in the ATS Routing box.

Try using ZSPD AND G204 SHZ B221 LJG A470 DOTMI VHHX which is a reversed Vataware route. However there are no approaches for VHHX in EFBs database so you would have to manually insert an approach.

    Thank you William.

That route I tried to fly (well ... similar) used to work fine. Unfortunately, I never saved it as a back up.

I am having problems with any other routes for which I manually insert SID and STAR.

BTW, when I try to insert above route manually, G204 SHZ B221 LJG A470 DOTMI are not in database!?!?!?

Re VHHX, please refr to my reply to Travis

    Cheers

    Nic

    Hello Nicola,

Did you make any manual changes to your Navigraph data as noted in this forum thread from 2010?

    Hi Travis,

That is exactly what I have been doing since the first day I purchased EFB. In fact, the main reason why I purchased EFB was that at that time, there were no VHHX SIDSTAR procedures available for the iFly 737NGX and EFB was able to export the complete flightplan, including the famous IGS RWY13 approach, without me having to resort to manually inserting all the fixes.

It has been all working fine with EFB v1.3.1.

When I installed the upgrade v1.3.2, I never tried that route until yesterday, when I found out about the problem of exporting the complete flightplan.

Should I try and reinstall v1.3.1 and see if it works as it used to?

    Cheers

    Nic

  19. EFB's flighplans get exported to the corrrect directories.

But, the files created are incomplete, lacking all the route legs.

From here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13021350/Proble ... tPlans.zip you may download a zipped file conating the Flightplans I exported for PMDG, iFly and QualityWings, besides the one for EFB itself, along with a screen capture of the route I wanted to export and which intended to fly.

Thanks in adavance for any support you can provide.
