Hello
Perhaps a silly question, but do I uninstall the older vesion prior to installing the latest version ? Thank You, WilloW

Thank you Urs, WilloW

Greetings:
I have just updated my version of EFB to the latest version.
Do I also need to update the AIRAC cycle from Navigraph?
Where do I install the new AIRAC cycle ?
Thank you, WilloW

Hi Urs
I understand now. The charts used in EFB are the Navigraph FMC charts and NOT the Navigraph approach charts, etc.
Thanks for clarifying. Regards, Iain
-
Hi - Are the charts with EFB the same charts that can be purchased from Navigraph using their nDAC viewing program?
Thanks, Iain

Iain,
Could you email your xml files (the simconnect.xml, dll.xml and exe.xml files that is) to support@aivlasoft.com?
Urs - and many other - EFB users use ActiveSky, so it's not impossible to use both. It only seems to be a configuration issue somewhere.
You mention that when you installed the ActiveSky Service Pack that you were not able to run Active Sky. Is that still the case or have you been able to restore it to full function?
Regards,
Hi GG Flyer - As this is only a new install of FSX, to reload is not a huge issue. I will reinstall FSX from scratch including the SDK, then see what happens from there. If problems, I'll do as you suggest.
Active Sky Evolution was not able to connect with FSX, and after install of SDK, EFB also was not able to connect. I believe the issue is simconnect, or perhaps because I'm also running wide ex and FSUPIC (Peter Dowson). I require FSUPIC as this is used for other hardware connections (full flight deck). Thanks, WilloW

Hello;
Thanks for the replies.
OK I uninstalled SDK and EFB still is in yellow mode.
I reinstalled SDK from DVD and EFB is still in yellow mode
Date Provider states simconnect status "inactive"
How do I obtain a green mode light?
I also note that the Data Provider stops working and displays in the upper menu "not responding". It then closes when WIN 7 window comes up asking if I want to close the program.
Can you please provide advice on how to rectify these issues.
Cheers, Iain

Hello Urs, Is the SDK on the gold edition FSX DVD the latest SP2 version?
If so, I downloaded SP1A over the top of this (that was stupid on my behalf)
It maybe prudent to uninstall the SDK and reinstall from DVD again - perhaps this will solve my issue
Should I do this??
I also note that there is a SP2 update available.

Hi Urs
I installed the SDK from FSX gold edition disc 1. I have SP1 and SP2 installed for FSX
I then updated the SDK using this update from the below site

Is this the correct method? Thanks, WilloW

Hi - Both computers are running WIN 7. EFB working perfectly, until,
I installed and configured Active Sky Evolution SP3 on my client computer
Since installing ASE, the data provider works OK, but states in the black box "simconnect status inactive"
The display unit only now works in "yellow" mode and not green mode. Therefore the moving map and airplane icon is disabled.
As part of the Active Sky Evolution install I had to install SimConnect from the SDK and alter the port designation to 500. I also had to write my STATIC IP address in the .xml file
Maybe this has caused a problem? Can someone guide me to a solution please.
I'm really pulling my hair out on this - both active sky and EFB are now inoperative - thank you, WilloW

Ah yes I see now - thank you. I'm not sure how I missed that as it's staring at you in the face Willow

Greetings all:
I'm probably not doing this correctly.
I've read the manual (20 of 38), however, cannot seem to be able to view departure or approach charts based on my route selected.
Can some enlightened sole please point me in the right direction - if it isn't too complicated a method...
Cheers, Iain

Ah OK - thanks.

Hello:
Finally have downloaded and installed EFB into my new system. What I see to date impresses me - thank you.
Does EFB include a complete list of all charts from Navisoft - or just a collection of some of those available? Thanks, WilloW

Thanks for your replies and advice.
The SIM A PC will be running the Sim Avionics software and will be looking after all the display visuals (main instrument displays, FMC, etc) as there are 3 video cards with 6 outputs for monitors.
The FSX machine (which only has one video card with 2 outputs) will have the outside display/visuals - either 2 screens or mostlikely an overhead projector.
Therefore, I was thinking of running the EFB output on a seperate monitor running from the Sim A PC. So, I guess installing the EPB software on the SIM A PC is the preferrred option.
A lot to learn here, but I'll get there, WilloW

Hello: I'm constructing a B-737 flight deck and will be using Sim Avionics for my flight software. The simulation will be run from 2 computers networked. I'm working through the computer set up at the moment.
The FSX computer has one video card with 2 outputs, while the Sim Avionics computer has 3 video cards with 6 outputs. The 6 outputs are mainly for screen displays in the main instrument panel.
Which is the better computer to load the flight bag onto - the PC running FSX or the PC running Sim Avionics ?
Advice appreciated. Thank you, WilloW
-
@Hekla - I will be connecting to FS. It often is handy to be able to view charts and plan before actually beginning a flight or turning FS on.
Many thanks, WilloW

Hello
In other words can you view charts, procedures and create a flight plan without FSX running?
Did a quick try on my setup - answer is yes to the above.
Thanks Tom. I really appreciate you checking this for me.
I'll be purchasing in a few weeks. I am thinking of mounting a screen to the side of the flight deck (flush to the wall) similar to a navigation table. Although not viewable directly to the front of the pilot, it will be able to be viewed by looking sidewards. Another idea was to run it on an i-pad or similar device. I have a CDU/FMC that will handle actual navigation.
Cheers, WilloW

OK thanks for your help guys.
I'm net working computers that are in pieces at the moment.
I was thinking about the programme & thought I'd ask. Oh and before you ask why not don't I use the computer I'm typing on now - its a MAC.
Thanks, WilloW

HI @on-the-air
Very good question.
I do not have the programme yet!
I am constructing a flight deck & will not be purchasing until a few weeks.
I wanted to know if this is possible as it determines the location of a monitor in my design.
Thanks, WilloW

Hello
I may have missed something, but can the software operate when FSX is NOT running?
In other words can you view charts, procedures and create a flight plan without FSX running?
Thank you, WilloW

Thank you. The document answers the question. Cheers, Iain

Hello;
Quck question as I couldn't find it in the manual.
1: Can you export as a PMDG route file (.RTE) to input into the PMDG FMC?
2: I use Sim Avionics and FSX. Can a route be exported to be read as a flight plan in a CDU? O
Thanks, Iain
