How to create a 'Support file'

Recommended Posts

What is a support file

A support file is a zipped text file which contains log files, settings and other files taken from the current EFB installation. We only collect EFB relevant data, which usually helps us to find the cause for a reported issue. All of this collected information can be viewed by yourself, using any text editor like Notepad.exe or similar. In your own interest, please do not change any data in this file.

Where will it be created

There will be individual files created for the Server and for the Client. You will find the zipped file(s) on your desktop, beginning either with "Server_" or with "Client_", both having the ending ".txt.zip". If your Client and Server are installed on the same computer, then obviously both files can be found on the desktop, if you have a networked installation then usually only the Server's or the Client's file will be found on the desktop.

How to proceed

There are 3 different ways to create a support file (see below, 1 to 3).

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu, and select "AivlaSoft/EFB2 Create Support files".

  2. As an alternative you can start the program "AivlaSoft.Efb.SupportFile.exe" from the installation folder of the Client and/or the Server with a double-click. This will open a command window. When the tasks are done, close the task window.

  3. In addition to that you can also create a Support File from the Server's and the Client's System Menus:
