That is difficult for me to show in an image, but luckily there are plenty of examples out there. For example, the FSX and Prepar3D Maps and Flight Planners do just that (other tools like Plan-G also do that). If one turns on airports (and ILS feathers) and intersections (and Victor or Jet airways), they are displayed. By hovering the mouse over one of these objects, relevant information (such as their names, ILS data, or airport data) pops up. To me, this is much more useful than a big list of VORS and intersections when adding waypoints. This is the kind of information that a real pilot would have available in his/her flight bag.
But as I said before, EFB already does a great job, but it could be better...
