  1. The distribution on two different Windows versions works flawlessly. My FSX is running on Windows 7 and the display unit is running on an XP system in the same network. Regarding the crossover cable you have to keep in mind that this is only the physical layer of the network stack and thus the lowest layer. TCP/IP sits, simply spoken, on top of this layer. There are other possible protocols but TCP/IP and UDP/IP are by far the most widely spread ones, and you need for sure an IP address for both. BTW, I would recommend to use a simple switch for a few $ and 2 standard network cables (Cat 5 or Cat 6) to connect the systems. You are much more flexible this way if you want to extent the network some day. Just connect every system to the switch and that's it. If you just connect the two systems without any internet connection it's easy. Just assign a fixed IP address to every system (e.g. 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2). If one system is a gateway to the internet, things got slightly more complicated, but there are many how to's in the Internet. Regards, Michael
  2. I just read in a review in a german flightsimulator magazin that "Aivla" means "Eagle" in Rhaeto-Romanic, which is one of the four official languages in Switzerland (besides Italian, French, and German). Hope this is correct, Urs. Regards, Michael
  3. Hi Urs, I know, the statement was merely meant for Bo, who said in his initial post that he would prefer to pay directly via credit card. That's why I prefer to pay via PayPal, because there is only one instance involved who knows the credit card details and everything behind stays mostly anonymous. But as I said before, it's all a matter of trust. Regards, Michael
  4. Hi Bo, yes, I know c't (magazine and TV) and I believe in them. However, all I can say is that I haven't had any problems with neither PayPal nor eBay until today. Of course this could have been luck. But as I stated in my first reply, everyone has to decide this for himself, and I can understand your opinion. On the other hand could it also be problematic to give someone you don't know your credit card details (sorry Urs, that wasn't meant personally). In the end it's all a matter of trust. And I personally prefer PayPal. Best regards, Michael
  5. Hi Bo, it's the first time I've heard that Paypal has bad reputation in Germany. Why is it so? I mean it's owned by eBay which is a very large company with an international reputation. Of course this is your personal decision but I have my account since nearly 8 years and never encountered any problems (and I am also from Germany). Regards, Michael
  6. Sorry, could have done this myself. And yes, everything has been solved very quickly. Thanks for the very good support. Regards, Michael
  7. Hello, I just tried (unsucessfully) about 30 minutes to purchase a license key from the online shop. Was anyone more successful than me and if yes what was the trick. First I tried to add a "Product Activation Key" to my cart. When I selected "Add to cart" at the product page I was forwarded to the registration page. The cart was still empty then. After registering (which was successful because I received a confirmation mail) I logged in and came to the page "What's in my cart" showing the status "Your shopping cart is empty". When I tried to go to the catalog again I am always redirected to the registration page. When I login first I am not able to go to the catalog again to select an item to purchase it. I really want to buy the software but it seems that the webshop is currently not allowing that. Any help is appreciated. Best regards, Michael P.S. I've tried 4 different browsers (IE 6 and 8, Firefox 3.5.5, Safari 4) on 2 different systems, evertime with the same result.
  8. Thanks a lot for your support. The workaround was succesful. Best regards, Michael
  9. Hello, after performing some tests with the evaluation version I have to say that I am quite impressed. As far as I know this is the first solution for the FSX (or any other PC based simulator) which can be called a solid software base for an EFB for airliners (as described in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_flight_bag). And I have waited quite some time for such a software to become available. Since the software is new there are still some minor problems to be solved (see this forum) but the overall stability and usability seems to be very good. I also found some flaws in the workflows but those can possibly be corrected in the future (e.g. when you want to display additional objects in a chart, like VORs or NDBs, you have to go through 3 menu levels for every single category to switch it on or off). I think, that's what the Wishlist forum is for. But the advantages of the software are really overwhelming for me. It is fast, flexible, has all the necessary feature of a Type A EFB software and some of Type B (see the Wikipedia link above), and has a very professional look & feel. The explicit touchscreen support is another plus. The nicest feature for me is, however, the dynamic generation of the charts via the combination of FSX and Navigraph information, so that the EFB always represents the current status of my simulator. Combined with the availability of the AIRAC cycles from Navigraph right from the beginning you can easily synchronize the Nav databases of many add-on planes and flight planners with the EFB. Five stars from me for this approach. And I am sure you will get a mail from me via Paypal soon. BTW: I really like the basic software architecture with one central data provider delivering the required information to the distributed display clients (ok, I have to admit that this kind of stuff is my job). I've also tested EFBFSX from FSWidgets for some time and although it is a really nice program it seems to be more intended for the GA area (including the look & feel). The main disadvantage for me is that one have to bring in all the charts as external files which can be an awful amount of work (e.g. when using NDAC charts). So thanks a lot for this fine piece of software and my best wishes for the future of the product (which is also a little bit selfish . Best regards, Michael P.S. No, I have no relations at all to Aivlasoft, neither private nor professional. The first time I've heard from this software was in the Navigraph newsletter last week. The reason for this enthusiastic post was simply the quality of the product.
  10. Hello, I can confirm this problem with my evaluation version. When trying to load a VATRoute from EGLL to LSZH I got the same error. When entering the route manually, the error also occurs. It does not matter if I am using DCT or SID/STAR. After the error the route is inserted as directly connected VORs and with the last VOR (BLM) omitted. Before: EGLL SID DVR UL9 KONAN UL607 KOK UM150 DIK UN852 MIRGU UT407 BLM STAR LSZH After: EGLL DCT DVR DCT KONAN DCT KOK DCT DIK DCT MIRGU DCT LSZH The software is running in the distributed mode with the DataProvider on the FSX system and the DisplayUnit on another system. Both system are running Windos XP SP3. Best regards, Michael EDIT: When using Route Finder the route is inserted correctly and I can select SID and STARS. So it seems to be a problem with the VATRoute interface.
